Shut them down!! 1/31/2012

I know from a girl who used to work at La Casa, that all of the good reviews written in the last 2 years on ANY internet site was written by someone who used to work for La Casa. He made up fictious emails and made the reviews up. Pretty pathetic when an employee has to make stuff up to make them look better.\r This is a disgusting facility that should be shut down. more

STAY FAR AWAY!!!! 1/31/2012

DO NOT SUBJECT YOUR FAMILY TO THIS RAT HOLE!! Pros: null Cons: null more

PLEASE STAY AWAY, READ ME FIRST 8/3/2011

I placed my lovely Mother in this place thinking that she was going to be safe. Well, it ended up as the place from hell...I was visiting her every day, and every day I ended up helping serve dinner to the residents, when it rained the hall in front of my Mom's bedroom would get soaking wet, and it was not an outside hall it was inside the building....carpet and all would get soaking wet. A lot of her personal items were stolen and no one was capable of telling me how it happened, importan heirloom items that her grandchildren will never be able to enjoy ...too much to tell....The NA and the nurse showed no compassion for my Mom or other patients, she was neglected and hurt so bad that she ended up in the hospital...I no longer have my precious Mom with me because she passed away from the injuries inflicted by these horrible people after going to a rehab place .... It is very painful to continue but please, please, please do not take your loved ones to this place. This place should be more

I would recommend Emeritus at La Casa Grande to everyone! 2/7/2011

From the moment my family and I came through the front doors of Emeritus at La Casa Grande we were treated with the utmost respect and dignity. During the touring, nurse screening, and paperwork we were introduced to almost every manager that works at Emeritus. \r Once my parents moved in they had the usual transition period where it was hard on them. However, the staff at Emeritus checked in on my parents every day and made sure they had all they needed. They were watched over very closely. \r My parents haven't been this active or social in years. They take walks every day in the open garden areas. My mother has joined a Book Club and my dad is getting ready to go out with the men's club next week. My brother and I couldn't be happier about our parents new home. more

With appreciation for all you do..... 5/10/2010

Thank you for making my mother's transition to La Casa Grande so pleasant. She is so happy with her appartment the staff, and her new friends. She always tells me that everyone is "very nice and helpful". It is very difficult for my brother and I to be so far away, but we know that she is in good hands. When we ask her "mom, how are you today?" She says "I'm fine; I love it here!" You can't get better than that!\r \r With appreciation for all you do..... more

Dreadful Place, La Casa Grande 4/8/2010

User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars \r by Sheila 04/08/2010 \r Dreadful place! Food atrocious! \r Mother-in-law in Independent Living, despite our daily visits we were never told of symptoms that were obvious to them (only one person mentioned it to us too late). There was no-one around, even when front desk is manned by an elderly woman who has obviously been there many years and is not up to date on modern day customer service, I stood 5 mins to speak and ask a question, she was "busy" on her computer and ignored the fact I was there! When asked to speak to someone, took me 3 days to locate a person and then it was the activities director who never passed along my message, if she did, I never received the promised call. I never did get any answers. \r Food was so bad that many days it was inedible. Chrsitmas Eve I stopped by and folks were being served 2 white pieces of toasted bread with a slice of cheese between and a small bowl of canned tomato soup. The elderly sat like zombies and all I c more

La Casa Grande is neglectful to your family members. 10/7/2009

Would anyone that has had a loved one neglected at La Casa Grande please email me. mariawallace@yahoo.com I just recently removed my mother from their so called care and she is slowly recovering from their neglect, after hip surgery. more

La Casa Grande is not a place to care for the elderly 8/16/2009

When you have medical staff that opening neglect the residence, I find that to be a real concern. The staff are not trained to care for the elderly in a fashion that even a kindergartner should know, like call 911 when someone is in distress more

THINK BEFORE YOU LEAVE A LOVED ONE 5/27/2009

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. My mother has been in the Home for almost 3 yrs. At first it was very good but the last 6-9 months, it has been a nightmare. My mother fell and they could not even give her an ice pack for her badly swollen knee, even after I took one down there they would not give it to her. The worst thing is she fell sick on Friday and I was told it was a virus, a lot of the residents had the same thing, not knowing any better I believed them. On Sunday I went for another visit to find her very sick and again was assured that it was just a virus and it would run it's course. The nurse on duty said the staff was very good to make sure that they got plenty of fluids although she had had only milk that day and she had not drunk that. On Monday evening I go to see her and found her in a diabetic coma, the nurse on staff was absolutely useless, even the paramedics were appalled at the lack of knowledge from this woman. I later was told by the paramedics more

STAY AWAY!!!!!! 1/2/2009

My beloved Mother was placed here.It was understaffed, so much, that I helped the nurse's assistant serve the food to the patients. One day it rained so much that the hall in front of my Mother's room was flooded, and they did not seem to care. To make a long and painful story short, the NA dropped my Mother on the floor and caused her to go to the hospital (the NA denied the events)and caused a contusion . We sued the place and won,Later on she passed away. Please do not even attempt to step foot in this place. Try to keep your loved one with you. My Mother was supposed to reside there temporarily. These people do not care about the residents. The doctor in charged even prescribed meds for my Mom that she could not take, (I wrote them on her chart myself). I have been in mourning for 8 years because I missed my Mother terribly. The nurse in charged LIED along with the NA..The best witness was MOM. more

Avoid if possible 10/24/2007

This is not a facility you will want your loved ones in. Several of the buildings are less than sanitary. Housekeeping was handed cans of pesticide spray to handle oneof the problems. the juice that is served to residents is watered down in an attempt to cut back on expenses. Residents are also only allowed to have juice at breakfast, unless they specifically request it at other meals. They are also served chicken repeatedly during the week, because it is cheaper than other meats. The cleaning chemicals used by the housekeepers, are also watered down. example is the pine sol, which is now a mixture of 25% pine sol to 75% water. The secured unit does not have enough staff to properly watch the residents. The level of care you receive in this unit, is based on whether or not you have family that visits you. No family, your bed dosen't even get made properly. Seriously consider other properties when placing your loved ones. Cons: thumbs down more

There are better places around. 7/18/2005

I had a friend living in La Casa Grande on Trouble Creek Road. When entering the property there was no one to show me to the room. Later on I needed to ask questions concerning the health of this person. I was told that they would contact the person. After waiting forever I finally got to speak with a nurse. I found this retirement home to be lacking in staffing. Hopefully this was just a bad day. PROS: The dining room looked nice. CONS: Not enough staff on duty. more

Hard to find help when visiting 6/25/2005

I had to visit a friend in the establishment. I spent a long time finding somewhere to park. On entering the building there were no staff around to ask directions. It was not the most welcoming of places. PROS: None CONS: No staff to ask questions. more
