Decline of Hearthstone 7/28/2011

As other posters reported, we were over billed by Hearthstone, Inc during my mother's last months. The local manager, billing department and corporate refuse to acknowledge or reply to phone calls or letters. I am considering small claims court but their is a clause in the contract that seems to deny you that right.\r \r See our story at www.DeclineOfHearthstone.com more

Emergency Cords don't get staff attenion 1/5/2011

My grandmother lived there for only a few months. Extra services like incontinent care ($475) were being paid for. They would change her and put her in dry pants, but would sit her back down in a soaking wet chair. Or when it was at night they would take the sheet off and put her back in bed on her plastic mattress cover instead of putting on the clean sheet sitting on the dresser. Once my mother wanted some assistance in changing her. She hit the call button, 10 min later no one came, so she hit the button again and waited another 10 min. Finally she pulled the emergency cord. 20 min went by and still NO ONE showed up. My mom then called the front desk and 10 min later a lady showed up very upset, stating she had been called off her break. Don't leave your family members here. more

Great Care 1/1/2011

My mom moved into the assisted living 4 months ago and she is gettin wonderful care! I agree with the other posts, that the staff care and wants to help. I would not have her go anywhere else because that is the most important to me. I don't know what the other post is talking about. There is a hotline posted next to director's door with a hotline number and the office has been responsive to me. more

Hearthstone is Unsatisfactory!! 10/4/2010

Hearthstone in Arlington was where my mother lived for 10 months until her death in June 2010. YUCK!!! The facility was marginally clean and the service provided was spotty at best. In ten months, only one or two of the bills were correct; they have very disfunctional billing department in Houston. Mom required little assistance until a month before she died and then the facility hit her with $1600 of service charges even though she had hospice assistance that covered those services. She was supposed to get a refund for services and rent that were unused, but all attempts to reach Hearthstone at their headquarters in The Woodlands went unanswered. No one answers the phone, no one returns voice messages, no one answers any written correspondence. They are hiding under their desks! Please don't put your loved one there. more

A Blessing! 5/12/2009

My parents have been at Hearthstone since October 2008. I never thought this would work in the beginning due my parents being so reluctant to move from their home (which they absolutely could not stay anymore). This place has been the biggest blessing to us! My parents are well taken care of, they are entertained, they are fed good nutritious food, and most of all they are loved! The staff is top notch from the cute little sales rep to the housekeepers! It is so warm and homelike. The staff always has a smile on their faces! I am so thankful for them! more

Thank you! Thank you! 10/23/2008

I have had my dad, who is not easy to deal with by the way, at every facility in Arlington and the surrounding area over the past few years. Hearthstone in Arlington was the only one we had not tried yet. When we moved him there this past spring, we did not unpack all of his things because we have been through this before... To our dismay he is still there 7 months later!!! He loves it!!! We definitely love it!!! The staff is extremely caring. Angie, the sales person, phenominal! Very clean, very upbeat for assisted living! Thank you Jesus! more

When you work with any public service it is difficult at best to please everyone 100% of the time. Food is of course by taste buds themselves. As an person of general finicky tastes, some meals work for me and some do not. It is all preference. As for the treatment of residents, if it is not someone of your family it is not always what it seems to be. When you are working with seniors with multi-faceted needs, we as care givers do try our best to provide appropriate care and support for the resident needs as possible. When specifically working with a resident with cognitive impairment, it takes patience and determination to still provide the care, whether it means: try, walk away, come back and try again. I do agree, folks need to educate themselves on what is out there. Hearthstone really is a great place to work and to live and the staff are there to provide the best care. more

A Very Satisfied Daughter 3/26/2008

My mother has been a resident at the Hearthstone Facility in Arlington for almost a year. The service has been great. The care staff compassionate and caring. The meals outstanding, my mother has even gained weight! The weekly events/entertainment and exercise has been a huge plus for my mom. The sales representative, Angie, was honest, warm and sincere. My mother is truly happy in her new home! Highly recommend Hearthstone in Arlington! more

For $4200 a month, you might expect some care.... 3/22/2008

My wife is at one of the Hearthstone facilities, and some of the things they provide are great, others are sub-par. She has a great apartment and is allowed to have her 2 cats. She is allowed to have her cats because the sales person lied about almost everything. The meals leave a lot to be desired. For a while it was almost all fried. Lets feed someone who has had 4 strokes food that will cause her to have a stroke! Great plan. The frequently serve liver, and most residents opt for the alternative, which they run out of, forcing residents to order dinner in from somewhere else or eat liver. The accounting is not great either. My wife was served liver (she eats in her room), she told them to take it back, they said to keep it because they had plenty. They then provided her with the alternative, but charged her for the liver she did not want. They also seem to have a hard time filing insurance claims and keeping payments straight. A friend and I were picking up my wife for more

Who are these people? At the request of my sister they're keeping my mother incommunicado, refusing to let me or other family members talk to her. I've made dozens of calls--she's out, she's asleep, she can't receive calls, nor can she have visitors. How moral is it to treat someone like this, a woman in her upper eighties and mentally impaired? \r \r My God, if this is not criminal then the legislature should make it so AT ONCE! I've called the corporate headquarters in The Woodlands no fewer than three times, so far without the courtesy of a reply more

Top Notch Assisted Living!!! 1/24/2007

In my opinion Hearthstone at Arlington is a wonderful place. I have had nothing but great experiences with everyone. The review by Truth Teller sounds like a disgruntled employee to me. The staff at Hearthstone has been nothing but wonderful and helpful. I have always felt they were at the top of their game. Compared to others in the area I always feel the residents are well taken care of and assisted with all of their needs. The management staff has always been very helpful and ready to listen to my needs. Thumbs way up to all staff members and keep doing a terrific job!! more
