Oh My God Expensive. I really loved the vet and nurse, they took a lot of time with me and my pets however, I almost had a stroke when the bill came. I can't afford these prices...

Owner, Dr. Fling, and office staff take time to know the ""ins and outs"" of your pets, and your concerns. I'd go back! more

Highly Recommend Dr. Brittney Barton 4/13/2011

I have to respectfully disagree with R.H.'s personal and professional assessment of Dr. Bayles-Barton. While I am sorry they had a unfortunate experience, I do not believe that it is right to try and ruin a person's reputation. Dr. Barton is currently treating a dog I am responsible for and she has gone above and beyond to do everything she can to save this dogs life. The dog is in extremely poor condition through no fault of its own (it came from a puppy mill) but I truly believe that it is Dr. Barton's expertise and care that is going to help her pull through. She is through in her examinations, has sought out expert opinions on certain aspects of the case and has done an excellent job keeping me informed as to the treatment plan and prognosis. Eastlake is lucky to have her as a part of their outstanding team. more

WORST Vet Hospital I've ever been to!! 2/20/2011

NIGHTMARE of a hospital!! Where to begin... Well, the front staff is pretty much completely incapable of putting chat to a halt in order to receive patients in a timely manner.... Even when animals needing IMMEDIATE care are waiting in pain..... In addition, the Doctors here fly out the door every couple of months or so, so don't plan on seeing the same Vet....ever. And certainly don't except any sort of diligence from any of the staff members regarding animal care, test results, etc. Oh, and to top it off, they were trying to charge me FOUR TIMES the amount for a procedure that another wonderful clinic performed promptly using an incredibly well-established Doctor. If you care about your animal at all, don't bother with this hospital. You'll regret it....unless you enjoy sitting around, wasting your time. more

Do your research and ask questions 2/14/2011

I recently brought in my dog for a "meet and greet" with the vet and to remove a tick from his back. What I really appreciated was the fact that they are open late on weeknights (until 9pm). My husband discovered the tick one night and wasn't sure how to handle it. I immediately got on the internet and saw that they had extended hours. Knowing they were still open (albeit it was 8:55 pm) he immediately called them and someone answered right away. She immediately handed the call over to the nurse on staff who was very professional and answered all of our questions. Even though she gave us a few suggestions on how we might handle removing the tick at home, she did recommend us bringing him in (but not in a pushy way). I figured this was the best time to schedule an appointment anyway and go ahead check our dog's vitals, etc, since we recently adopted him. We were able to get him in the following morning. So with that said here are my pros and cons:\r PROS: Very professional sta more

They will make sure you are satisfied and do care about your pet. They have taken care of many friends dogs over the years more

East Lake is wonderful 11/23/2010

East Lake is hands down the best vet I have ever been to, and I've been to my fair share. The veterinarians we have seen there have always been honest and friendly. I have had 2 pets that needed immediate surgery to save their lives and East Lake has always cleared the schedule of at least one vet to take care of my puppies as soon as I broght them in. While their prices are slightly higher than other vets, it is totally worth it. After all, you get what you pay for and I've always received the best care available. Even though I now live in McKinney, it is worth it to me to drive 45 minutes into the city in order to get the best care for my pets. more

Great Quality Pet Care 6/30/2010

OK radyfurst, if I want my pet to be mistreated and get higher prices than Eastlake I will take him to City Vet. It is your responsibility as a pet owner to educate yourself about your pet's needs, and no one forces you to agree to any test. I worked at City Vet Uptown briefly and the treatment there is horrible! Just read the reviews about City Vet and you will see what I mean. Granted Eastlake is not cheap, if you want cheap get your animal beat up by Petmobile or Banfield like the rest of the ill informed petowners. Pros: High Quality Professional Pet Care more

over priced 6/2/2010

many of the reviews here talk about how great the place is and you get what you pay for however there are other vets that do not consistantly overcharge their customers for everything. everytime I take my dog in they use fear factor to do more tests and charge more...the vets sometimes are good and other times actually mean. I had one guy there that stuck a stick so deep in my dogs ear she yelped and he said oh that is natural...PLEASE. try city vet. cheaper nice and good vets Pros: clean and location Cons: price more

Dr Deason 2/20/2010

There is really only one reason i take my pets here and that is because of Dr. Deason. She has got to be the kindest most gentle person i have ever met. I absolutely adore her and if i don't have an emergency on my hands then i wait until she is in the office and schedule to see her specifically. The bad part is that she only works on Tuesdays. There is no doubt this placed is overpriced. I have almost choked on a number of bills I have received here. i actually left and took my pets elsewhere for about 5 years before returning to Eastlake. It was just so close to my home and i missed dealing with Dr Deason. I do close my eyes and hold my breath though when they put that bill in front of me. I hardly every get out of there for under $300 or $400. I have even noticed that the front office staff are even a little nervous about giving the amount due. They have obviously seen many reactions to the outlandish prices. The facility staffs and enormous number of employees so they o more

East Lake Veterinary Hospital is WONDERFUL 9/19/2009

I love East Lake, I boarded my Cocker Spaniel there last month for the first time and had no complaints. My pet is just like my child and there is NEVER a limit on the cost when it comes to his well being. The only complaint I have is that the hospital is not close to Duncanville, and with me flying out of DFW this location is not close to my vicinity. more

East Lake Veterinary Hospital is World Class 9/1/2009

When I took my English Bulldog, Meatball, to East Lake, I knew she was getting the best care and the answers to her issues were going to be found? and they were! I?m not sure what all the services were that your pet got or what medications he got, but a ?check up? is not ?$750? at ANY veterinary clinic! I feel comfortable knowing that Meatball?s doctor truly cares, I have never been to a vet before where the doctor gets down on the floor with my dog to give her loving to calm her down after a long car trip. I know that there are lots of choices for vets, but I don?t think there?s a better place for people who will love your pet like their own and the care is as good or better than in a human hospital. more

Worth it if you have a lot of money. 7/15/2009

Oh My God Expensive. I really loved the vet and nurse, they took a lot of time with me and my pets however, I almost had a stroke when the bill came. I can't afford these prices especially when there are less expensive alternatives nearby. I just wish I would have been given a heads up prior because most people can't afford a $750 checkups. That is more than I pay for my children. more

Compassionate Quality Care 2/13/2009

I have had dogs all my life and tried several Veterinarians in the area. When I walked into East Lake the atmosphere was warm and friendly, they have a Pet Orphanage inside the hospital which impressed me because I felt like this was a place that truly cared about animals. There are several complaints about the prices of this hospital but I felt like my pets had a more thorough exam than they have had in the past and I liked the way the staff took the time to answer my questions and explain things in detail, without making me feel like they were trying to rush me out the door.I left feeling confident that if there had been a problem it would not have been overlooked. In a nutshell you get what you pay for, sure there are less expensive places but if you consider your pets a part of your family as I do, I want a veterinarian that I can trust to give my pet the best quality of life they can have. The staff seems on top of the latest technology, one of the doctors even has experience in S more

Overpriced but good at what they do. 7/17/2008

Its defiantly for those with more money then I. Not to mention they can't get the pricing right to begin with. I got four different prices in less then 24 hours and that was AFTER I got my dog back. They are very nice but unless you have PLENTY of money and its no object then find somewhere else. It seems after looking at my bill that quite a few things they charge for are not totally necessary just look good to jack the price up further. more

This vet will give you a headache! 7/17/2008

I went to this vet for a while when I first moved to Dallas after having it recommended to me. The first few times I went it was fine and I saw a good vet, but after that it became an absolute nightmare. When I got my second dog, I brought him in and was told but the vet that he was 3 years old and needed $900 of dental surgery or he would lose all his teeth (several other vets all confirmed that he was 6 months and did not need anything done to his teeth). The vet insisted on it even though I told him that the people I adopted him from got him when he was a few weeks old and that he was only 6 months. Then I booked boarding at East Lake for my two dogs when I was flying out of state. I called the day before to confirm and everything was set, and then when I showed up to drop the dogs off they said that I was not in the system and that they were fully booked so I could not leave my dogs there. I almost missed my flight after spending an HOUR AND A HALF trying to work it out with the people there and ended up being able to leave them in the medical section with the sick dogs rather than having them boarded with the other dogs who were just there for a visit. After that I knew I could not rely on them at all. The one good thing about East Lake is that when you need your flea and heartworm medicine, they will match the prices you find online (from sites like 1800petmeds) if you bring in the printout showing what the medicine is currently selling for. Pros: matching prices for flea and heartworm meds Cons: service, incompetent vets, loses boarding reservations more

Wonderful staff and great care 6/4/2008

I have been taking my babies to East Lake for years. My dog goes to day camp and has so much fun. When he comes home he is tired because he has been playing all day. The day camp people are always watching over the dogs and playing with them. They stay with them all of the time they are out there. I have been to places before that had so many dogs playing and the person would leave them alone or ignore them. Not at East Lake though. The people are wonderful. The veterinarians and team are always helpful and take wonderful care of all of my babies. I would recommend East Lake Veterinary Hospital to anyone that wants their baby to have the best care and fun possible. more

My Arm and Leg Are Gone! 5/20/2008

I guess I'm a little slow, but I'm really having some serious second thoughts about this clinic. I only went to this clinic because this was the orphanage that raised the dog I adopted and sponsored his care. After mutlitple visits with my pets, I'm being bled to death with their fees. Once my cat is done with his surgery, I'm never going back. A basic annual physical with rabies shot, heartworm pills, etc, for a dog typically costs in the neighborhood of $500.00. The tooth extraction currently being done on my cat is going to cost me $800.00. The actual tooth extraction on their itemized list is only $30.00 along with $47.00 for the anesthetic, and roughly $50.00 for antibiotics and pain killer. The rest of that is all kinds of diagnostic fees, nurse monitoring fees, Dr. observation fees, etc. etc. I'm never going back! more

I love East Lake 3/17/2008

Yes, East Lake is pricey. If you aren't willing to spend money on your pets, you are not going to be happy. That being said, I think the vets, staff, facility, and care given to animals is outstanding. Our dogs LOVE going to visit the vet. When our puppy had a serious, life-threatening issue, the vets were very helpful, answering our phone calls, responding to emails. I never feel rushed and we always get a lot of personal attention. When my elderly GSD had to be rushed in for an emergency euthanasia, everyone was so caring and compassionate. They sent a sympathy card and made a footprint cast as a memento. It meant a lot to me. more

Best Place For My Pets 7/20/2006

As the old expression goes, you get what you pay for! The cost may seem high at first, but I get one on one time with my vet. I don't feel rushed in the room and my pet is getting excellent treatment and the diagnosis has been correct each time I have visited. The people are friendly and always show an overt interest in my pets. PROS: Excellent care for your pets CONS: more

Good If You Have Money 6/26/2006

I found this vet to be very good but EXTREMELY overpriced! The hospital is nice and the doctors seem knowledgeable but only if you can afford it. If you cannot they are not interested in working with you but they will give you the number of a reasonably priced vet which to me is an admission of severe price gouging. more
