I recently went here for a weekend getaway and was dissapointed when I arrived and the rooms look nothing like the pictures display on the internet. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathrooms were nothing to write home about. Valet was much more expensive than other hotels in the city- so look into other options. Pros: great location if your wanting to shop on michigan ave. Cons: overpriced valet more

Was Okay wasn't completely impressed! 5/18/2008

Parking is $49 the most I have paid to park at a hotel in Chicago. Then we go to check in to find out we had 2 beds. When we tell them we would like one bed they tell us we have to pay $50 to upgrade ... They told us how much nicer our new room would be and it was worth it. It was an ADDITIONAL $106 after taxes just walking in the door. We get to our room and it is okay but no different than many 3 star hotels I have been to. It was a lot less than what I was expecting. Saying the walls were thin was an understatement... the neighbors were talking normally and we could hear them as plain as day through the wall. We were trying to have a romantic weekend but that was not happening because we didn't want them hearing us through the wall as well. The cleaning people walked in on us kinda early in the morning while we were unexposed. They did knock but we were so used to hearing all the noise going on in the hotel room we didn't realize they were knocking on our door. They should have some type of system so they know who checked out of their room so they can clean without bothering people. For breakfast you had to pay about $50 for 2 people to eat. I was in the hall and saw them bringing food up and it was set up like a hospital tray with saran over the small 6oz cup of juice that costs $5 and plastic trays. I expected more quality for that amount of money so after seeing that I didn't order it. I booked this room through hotwire and got a amazing rate so it made me tolerate the situation much better but I would never pay full price for this hotel. I have been much happier and more impressed with 3 star hotels than this 4 1/2 star hotel. This experience was not the best but we tried to stay poitive cause it was our big weekend in the city. I wouldn't waste your money here paying full price. Everything was way over priced for what you get! The wine and cheese tasting bar was nice, but again overpriced for what you get. Pros: It has great shops and resturants around it. Cons: Overpriced for what you get. more

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in 2006. We went to Chicago a week before Christmas-the hotel was decked out for the holidays with a GORGEOUS christmas tree in the main lobby to greet you. The staff couldnt have been nicer, we tried our luck of asking if we could be upgraded and sure enough he gave us a tower room which was beautiful! Great view, four posters beds with feathtop mattresses, gorgeous bathroom and beautiful victorian like decor. The doormen were so friendly, can't say enough good things about them. Great location, couldnt be better really. Right on Michigan Ave, across the street from Nordstroms and surrounded by many great stores. My husband and I have just booked 4 nights there for this June, I insisted that we go there so he can see how nice it is! Pros: Everything! Cons: Kinda pricey more

Good Location 4/12/2007

Great Location. Front desk is freindly and accomidating. Conciere's could have been better. They referred us to a salon called Zeza which was overpriced and the quality of service was terrible. Pros: Great Location good price more

At 5:30 AM 0n april 13, 2006 I was waken from my sleep by water coming through the ceiling over my bed. I am 80 years old, and it shook me up. I called the desk and a handy man came up. His comment was looks like a leak. They tore out the ceiling. The Asst Mgr. (Not Freindly) comped for 1 day. Day Mgr. (not freindly) Said have a nice day.Noby was friendly. I guess that is HOTEL Policy. Never Again Stay There. Pros: Location Cons: Not Friendly, Help is not happy more

The worst experience at 5 star hotel. 3/22/2006

First of all, room quality and design looks so old. I cloud't belive that it is 5 star hotel, comparing with InterContinental hotel Sydney. Then, I requested a suite room with a beautiful view.when I went inside the room, it was totally diifferent from my request, even though they were not busy at that time. Also, when I tried to change the room (talked with receptionist),the receptionist was not really helpful. Room service foods were as same quality as first foods!!one of reservation operator was very snobbish and there is nothing customer service, also, the hote is not really generous as a 5 star hotel. Maybe, I expected too much, intercontinental hotel Chicago was like a intercontinental hotel Sydney. Pros: location Cons: service, room quality & design, food quality more

Very Deceiving 3/12/2005

There was no 1920's atmosphere bar, it was just a dull bar. There was no Judy playing jazz, there were 2 guys playing agonizing slow boring music. The pool is a joke. You are asked to shower before entering into the pool which is fine but here is the kicker. There is NO entrance from the shower to the pool. You have to shower, walk back out to the main entrance wet and cold, up the stairs, through the workout area and then enter into a cold pool. What were they thinking? The rooms were nice but small and cramped. This hotel is not, I repeat not worth it. I will never go there again. Don't believe what you read on their website. Very deceitful. Cons: Awful Pool, No 1920's Bar, Jazz bar? more

No better "bang for the buck" on the Mag Mile! New rooms in North Tower & South Tower is always great. Best pool in Chicago. Huge & Historic. Centrally located. Great concierge service. Six Continents Club is a great value & adds amenities and upgrades. Kid friendly. Excellent web site. We stay 3 or 4 times each year & have never been disappointed. Best memory...Visited Chicago for our anniversary and were upgraded to a Penthouse Suite ! Pros: Location, Value, Rooms Cons: n/a more

Having stayed at this hotel several times over the past 10 years, we have always be welcomed back to the hotel as if we were "part of the family." They know our car when we approach and we are always welcomed by several of the staff. The rooms are nice and the historic part of the hotel is beautiful! Since remodeling, every room we have had has been fantastic. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends when visiting Chicago. And it is right in the middle of the Mag Mile! Pros: great location, beautiful pool, great employees Cons: need a coffee shop, teh elevators more

The Inter-Continental is a wonderful hotel located and the Mag Mile. It is close to all the shopping and sight seeing that you would want to do. The hotel has a wonderful olympic size pool. The pool area, as well as the rest of the hotel itself is just beautiful. I would recommend to everyone! Pros: Close to shopping, Romantic, Great for everyone Cons: Rooms are small more

We stayed there in March for two nights. Our original upgraded room wasn't ready and we just took was available. It was a bad room; the worst I've ever had. The next day we switched to our correct room and that was wonderful; I wish I would have been patient to wait for it on the first day but a special regular patron had the super extended stay checkout time which was a bummer for us. Pros: Good location, Historical, Plush Cons: Small t.v. more

A Chicago Classic 5/19/2002

No complaints about anything here. A renovation of the lobby and entrances in the summer of 2001 have made things even a bit nicer. The pool here is a can't-miss attraction -- ornately tiled and like you've seen nowhere else. Rooms are smallish, but everything is in great shape. Pros: Nicely re-done, Pool is outrageous more
