I don't think I've ever had a better breakfast...EVER, even with a 1/2 hour wait on a Thursday morning at 9:30am. I had the True Blue plate for $9.95 - 2 eggs over easy (the he...

I've been in 3 times and will never go back. The service was consistently bad. The waitress has no concept of what ""sense of urgency"" means. The food is OK, but does not make...

Breakfast at Dottie's 8/20/2006

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in SF. They only open for breakfast and lunch. I think they open from 6:30am to 3pm in the afternoon. They are closed every Tuesday. This tiny little place always packed with people, and the wait is usually an hour or longer. Loved my first time at Dottie's, we were seated by the counter, the chef put on quite a show, it's like having a private iron chef show at the Dottie's. Did i mention the food is excellent. I love their omelet, country style potato (usually comes with the meal), Italian sausage, French toast. Pancakes are average, but they are big and fluffy. more

Great local breakfast spot 5/17/2006

Dottie's Cafe is one of those local secrets that everyone knows about. My sister introduced me to the wonders of Dottie's breakfast when I was in the city for work last week. I ordered the blueberry pancakes, and she got some sort of omelet. I took one bite and was in bliss. The pancakes were so heavenly, they tasted like dessert. Made with a dash of ginger, and succulent blueberries, they were absolutely delicious. The omelet was also memorable. Two drawbacks were the wait--the line was growing down the street when I left, and their baked goods--they sound and look tasty, but are not. more

Top breakfast spot 3/17/2006

It's worth the trek into this slightly sketchy neighborhood to visit Dotties for breakfast. There is usually a line of people out the door waiting but it usually won't take more than 30 minutes to get in. The earlier (like 8 AM) or later you come, the less wait there will be. On to the food! They have fabulous pancakes and french toast, great omelets, and some unusual baked goods. Try anything that's a daily special and you won't be disappointed. more

Worth the Wait 8/23/2005

We went there twice on our recent trip to San Francisco. We were treated to attentive service, quality food and a fun experience. We waited one hour on one visit but soon forgot the wait when we sunk our teath into the scrumptous cinnamon rolls. The baked goods are fantastic and anything with the bread in it was great from the vegetable strata to the wonderful french toast. more
