Great Thai food 8/2/2010

I live in Brookline and this is one of my favorite Thai restaurants. This is likw a typical family run restaurant you would find in Thailand. They have many platter options for $9.95. Great Thai tea!! Pros: friendly, delicious & cheap Cons: ? more

Good for what you get 2/19/2010

Went here first time yesterday -- 9 of us were accommodated almost immediately on a Friday night - not sure if this is common practice but if it is, BIG plus on service -- Lots of good looking entrees on the picture menu, but we were all immediately drawn to the dinner specials...all around 11 dollars and you get a good amount of food and tons of choices. Dinner specials all come with tom yum soup...a little spicier than some other thai places but still good. Also comes with two fried veg spring rolls, two pork fried dumplings, and two sauces, and rice For my entree I got tofu and veggies...pretty good, but the favorites from around the table were the pad-see-ew (wide rice noodles sauteed with chinese broccoli and beef) and the pineapple fried rice. The service was awesome, constantly filled our glasses, were really attentive, and nice all around. There's also a cool little fruit-drink bar inside that accompanies a fun islandy atmosphere. Good amount of food for the price -- all 9 of us were satisfied. Will definitely go back. Pros: Reasonable, Good portions, Good Service more

Thai me to the moon 2/9/2010

Dok Bua reminds me every time what I saw in Thailand. It's a marriage of street food and family owned atmosphere without skimping on authentic flavors and dishes. Whether you're a Thai novice or a craving some a home cooked meal (for you expat Thai's), Dok Bua delivers. I often come here when shopping for bagels (Kupel's) or other jewish deli picks, and crave that sweet/spicey goodness that I cant get in my own cuisine (Russian).. Service is fast and no frills. But the flavor delivers every time. Pros: Authentic thai Cons: No frills decor more

The place for Thai 3/19/2009

This is a great place for good thai. They have great lunch and dinner specials with soup, salad and apps. I usually get takeout because they're always busy. Pros: Lunch and dinner specials Cons: Eating in a grocery store more

Best Thai in Boston 9/16/2007

I grew up in Boston and tried MANY thai restaurants both here and in NYC where I go to school. Dok Bua is hands down the best of all. The place is small, but comfortable and colorful. The food NEVER dissappoints. I've tried numerous dishes here and all of them were excellent It's the most flavorful Thai I've ever had and every dish has its own unique 3-dimensional taste. A previous reviewer mentioned that Dok Bua is not authentic Thai, but this couldn't be further from the truth. I lived in Thailand for several weeks and as far as I'm concerned, this is as good as it gets. It's the real deal. No imitations. I hope to come back to Dok Bua soon!!! Pros: The food more

Not authentic Thai 3/29/2007

I was very disappointed by this place. I read that it served authentic Thai, but I suppose whoever wrote that is not familiar with real Thai food. Nothing we ordered tasted like it was supposed to. Who in their right minds puts chicken in tom yum goong? That was a first (and hopefully last) for me. Pros: inexpensive Cons: weird interpretation of Thai food more

Awesome lunch special!! 2/6/2007

I love this place!! Lunch is great. The servers are so friendly and helpful. You must try this place. Pros: Easy access and great food!! more

YES! What a FIND! 7/13/2006

I *love* Thai food, and have eaten quite a bit of it on both the East and West coasts. I went to this small local restaurant off the green line looking for decent Thai. What I got blew me away. \r \r Their menus (yes, there are two) are extensive and feature pictures of each dish. The execution was incredible. Wonderful. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. The Pad Ki Mow was ""to die for.""\r \r Service is knowledgeable and pleasant. The ambience is serviceable: The place looks like a converted grocery store (cuz it is) with contact paper covering glass cooler doors on one wall. What's really amazing -- aside from the food -- is that the prices at Dok Bua are so incredibly low.\r \r If you want great Thai food and you're not looking for fancy atmosphere, you won't be disappointed by Dok Bua.\r Pros: food (GREAT), prices (low) more
