Worst

Ditmas Management only provides heat for 1 hour on, then 3 1/2 hours off from 9 am until 11 pm in the winter months. Then, usually no heat from 11 pm until 9 am the next morning....

NO HEAT, BAD PROPERTY MANAGER, 11/23/2011

11/23/2011, day before thanksgiving.\r \r I came home today at 7:00 PM, there was no heat when I came in and until now I am typing up this email which is 11:23 PM, there is still no heat. The outside temperature is 40 degrees. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. This sure does feel like a cold holiday season as a tenant of the building under your management.\r \r \r \r As a property manager, please address this issue promptly and adjust the thermostat and temperature control of the heating devices so that tenants in this building can have heat during the cold weather. I have lived in this building for almost 4 years, and there has never been any heat issues except this year. A new property manager was assigned and since our long time super has passed has passed away, we do notice the deterioration of the condition of this building. Tenants' requests have been neglected, tenants' basic right like heat and hot water left unprotected . My balcony is still such bad shape. The balcony re-construction takes too long and is apparently being mismanaged. \r \r more

Management is cheap and lazy 6/3/2011

The super is great he has been here 15 years and always answers his phone. The Building Manager on the other hand is terrible he never ever answers the phone and responds in exactly 24 hours. I live on the 6th floor and the roof had a bad leak it took me 4 days to get a hold of the building manager, and his response was: "" we started working on it 2 months ago but had to stop because of the weather, this is a process and could take some time."" BullS***T. The buildings are in shambles they always stink, the outside is always covered in trash and dog poop. Twice a homeless person tried to follow me in the lobby I had to kick the door to get him off the property. The front door lock is stripped so you don't even need the right key to open it. the door itself is barely hanging onto the door frame with the 6 or 7 screws that are smashed in the corner of it. So basically if you can avoid this management company at all costs, of yea they send the rent checks out with a return envelope that does not have return postage paid freaking cheap pricks. more

MY PARENTS LIVE IN THEY BUILDING FOR OVER 10 YEARS. EVERY TIME THER,S A PROBLEM THE SUPER IS THE LAST TO SHOW UP. FOR THE LAST 6-8 MONTH THEY,D BEEN COMPLAINING ON GAS SMELL FROM THEY GAS RANGE.AS USUAL SUPER IGNORED IT AND,FINALLY,THE GANGE COT ON FIRE.ALL THE SUPER DID WAS CLOSING THE MAIN VALVE. THEN HE SAID""OK, I,LL LOOK FOR SOME OLD GANGE SOMEWERE FOR YOU"".NOT EVEN GIVEN AN IDEA HOW SOON. THEY,RE OLD,SICK PEOPLE ON STRICT DIET. I WAS FORCED TO RUN TO A NEAREST STORE AND BUY A NEW RANGE AND INSTALL IT THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I CALLED TO ""DITMAS"" THEY REPRESENTATIVE JUST HANG UP ON ME WHEN I SAID I EXPECT THEM TO COMPENSATE THEM IN THEY NEXT RENT. IT WAS NOT SOME FANCY STOVE. SOME YEARS AGO SAME HAPPEND WHEN THEY LOST A REFRIGERATOR. THIS,RE JUST SOME COLD,ARROGANT PEOPLE . more

I moved in about 7 years ago, what i first noticed was how bad the side walks were from dog pooh, but that is from nasty dog owners. Anyway if you look out side across the street in the summer time to the other side of the building that Ditmas does not own, hell they take care of there grass and we have dead grass in our little middle because no one wants to water the grass. so ours is dead and look across the street its beautiful. Then lets talk about the walls in the apartment, we live on the top floor and the moisture gets in and causes peeling and stuff and it happens quite often. so our walls were never nice and i mean really bad. then there is the roachs and mice. roaches not as bad as the mice, but we had mice 3 times infestation, and they said it was from our dog. This place is really not that great to live in, everytime they fix something in the building the rent goes up. for the money people have to pay to live there, it is so not worth it and lets talk about the elevator. we have alot of old people in our building and the elevator is stuck alot. the mice and roaches are seen in the basement so of couse they are going to make there way upstairs. more

not worth it 8/4/2010

I have never written a review online for anything in my life, but when a company is this bad, a review is in order.\r \r First of all, in order to even APPLY for an apartment through Ditmas, I had to hand over $5,000 in bank checks (essentially cash)... and still had no guarantee that my application would be accepted. I tried to get around this, but I really wanted the apartment (and it was getting closer to my move out date) so I went for it and hoped for the bst. \r \r I waited almost 2 weeks to hear back from them and when I tried calling to find out about my application and ALL OF MY MONEY, they were so rude I could not believe it. It was 3 days until the 1st of the month, and for some reason I had no right calling... ? Needless to say they did not give me an answer, and instead proceeded to scream at me for calling in the first place. (""Who are you? Do you have a broker? Have him call me! I have a million applications here..."") \r \r OH and BY THE WAY it is absolutely impossible to get through to anyone if you call... you need an ext. After doing some serious detective work, I was able to find some... Try ext. 122 or 118.\r \r I wound up getting the apartment, but only because I was backed into a wall... I applied around August 12th and they told me on August 28th... they had all of my money and I needed a place to live! I don't care how busy a company is, it takes no more than 10 minutes to check someone's credit and give them an answer. At the very least, they could have updated me on where they were in the process. There is also NO reason to require all of the money up front like that...Why should anyone pay more than an application fee to apply for an apartment?\r \r There are a million apartment buildings in NYC that are just as nice and have GOOD management companies... this place is not worth the stress, and they certainly do not deserve your money. more

\r I lived at 111-50 76 Road in Forest Hills. They are a great management company- never had any problems. Mario, the super, is the best. Also, I moved out two months early and they gave me back my security deposit plus a month of rent- very fair. Recommended very highly.\r \r Alex more

people!!! you need to know these people are FILTHY TRASHY LOW LIVES who only live to screw people over. they are all going to hell... they live to make others miserable... and use their money to support republicans. they are evicting me and i couldn't be happier!!!! more

Seriously.. IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They are the most disrespectful, money hungry, greedy P.0.S building management EVER! They should be reported to the BB Bureau for fraud and intimidation tactics. WARNING: IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT SIGNING A LEASE WITH THEM, AND GIVE THEM A HOLDING FEE, THEN DECIDE NOT TO GO WITH THEM, THEY WILL KEEP ALL OF YOUR DEPOSIT!! IN OUR CASE IT WAS $3000.00. Frankly they are CROOKS. The buildings they manage are nasty and filled with insects. Are OLD and unkept buildings. I have lived at 11150 76th Road in Forest hills. YOU WILL HAVE R.O.A.C.H.E.S..LOTS OF THEM!!! They ""require"" a 90 day notice if you are going to move out.. anything less than that and they start taking away from your security deposit. Forget about trying to get a rider for a month to month lease after living there for a while. They charge you a $750-1000 amendment fee AND will raise you rent. They employ strong arm tactics and bully their renters. \r \r WARNING: THIS COMPANY IS BAD FOR YOU AND YOU MONEY - Rent is ridiculously high and always going up. THEY WILL SCAM YOU FOR YOUR MONEY. AVOID DITMAS MANAGEMENT AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Cons: EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE!! Bullies, intimidators, theives. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! You WILL BE SORRY more

They took nearly $5,000 deposit from me and refuse to return any of it. There isn't even a lease signed yet!They provided me with wrong address to file a complaint just to make everything harder. As soon as you hand over the cash, don't even think about getting anything back unless you take them to court! Pros: NA Cons: Extremely greedy more
