I am originally from San Diego, CA and moved to Virginia a few years ago. Since I have been here I have been looking for mexican food that reminds me of my hometown in Escondido, Ca (a city in San Diego) In Virginia I have tried Plaza Azteca, Mi Hogar, and a variety of other ""Mexican"" restaurants that have came close in some areas but never really what I was looking for. I heard about Diegos on the radio and thought this is it! So my family and I were going down Independence one Saturday and there it was ""Diegos"". Not only did it have My favorite teams the Padres and Chargers memorobilia everywhere, It had Mexican food that tasted just like what I was used to getting in Escondido. The atmosphere also reminded me of being home. I had the Bean and Cheese burrito my husband had the Carne Asada. The only thing that wasn't the same was the flour tortillas. I believe that in San Diego the tortillas are made from scratch, the tortillas at Diegos were like Mission Tortillas from the store. But other than that I give it a 9! I will be going back to try one of everything off the menu. Thank You!!!
Pros: All the food, the atmosphere, Total THUMBS UP!!!
Cons: The Tortillas
