Worst Peach Farm on Long Island 7/29/2009

This used to be a good place to peach pick. NOW you have to pay $10 in advance. So if after you have walked 1/2 mile to the trees, and you only pick 3 pound, you are out of luck. You dont get any of your $10 back as a refund. Secondly, if you pick more than pounds then you have to pay EXTRA money. We went there, we went in the rows they told us, put we mistakenly picked plums and ""donut"" peaches in those rows. There were no signs. They confiscated all of our peaches and told us we HAD to pay them $5 per pound for the donut peaches. THen they cursed at yelled at us when we walked away --- leaving our $10 deposit because they would not give it back. Do yourself a favor go to LEWINS. Its only 1 mile west on sound avenue on the right hand side. Pros: Lewin Beach Farm is 1 mile WEST on Sound Ave. Cons: The worst people to deal with, you have to pay in advance ?? more

The best fruit available ANYWHERE,fresh, sweet and delicious .Fresh picled vegetables Daily from real neighboring farms 10/16/2008

I have read the reviews posted and i really am suprised. I have been going to Davis Peach Farm for over 20 years as well as the other local farms. The Davis, work hard all year long, and they still have pride in what they do. Believe me, their product shows it. They are kind people. Just ask to speak to one of them. I have seen conflicts over the years and I can tell in all truthfulness that the conflicts are always caused by people who visit the long island farms, steal, expect everything for free, want to eat everything, liter the orchard, etc. etc. I have witnessed people caught stealing in their pocketbooks, diaperbags, their clothing etc. and when they are caught they laugh as if its ok. They wouldn't be laughing if they were caught at a supermarket or a restaurant and the police had been called. But for some reason because its a farm everyone thinks it ok or a joke. The owners are not paranoid they are tired of seeing their farm being hauled off to the city and elsewhere by people who feel entilted to certain things. Both the Davis and Lewin Families have been an important part of Long Island history, and as a native long islander i hope the Davis can stay forever. If we keep loosinf our farms we are even more dependent on foreign countries and recent events have proven that those countries cant be trusted to keep our food safe and free from contaminants. Im tired of visitors ruining my island on weekends and holidays and being pushy, rude an demanding. Do that where you r from. Not here. And just so you know, Lewin Farms Farmstand was sold to a man who owns a house in hunts point market. You can buy his produce anywhere. Pros: Best fruit available anywhere. Cons: having to put up with tourist and citidiots more

This place is very strange Don't waste your time going there. 7/26/2008

My wife and I decided to go out the on the island peach picking. We had seen an add for Davis Peach Farm in the paper and decided to check it out. When we got there we say about 100 signs that said No Strollers, No Diaper Bags, No Pocket Books, No cameras, No Knives, No Weapons, All bags subject to search, etc. etc. There were flood lights on all fhe fence posts. My wife and I thought this was very strange. The place looked like a concentration camp. Why would they not allow cameras?? The owners of this place must be paranoid lunatics. After talking with the snotty woman, about the 10$ minimum, we asked if the peaches were ripe and what the conditions were. I got the feeling the woman was being less than honest when she said all the peaches were ripe. We had seen Lewins farms on the way in to Davis and decided to try that instead, so we left without going in to Davis. The guy working at Lewins was very nice to us. We had a fun time and got a bunch of great peaches. I see no reason to ever go to Davis Peach Farm again. I can't believe they are still in business running their peach orchard like a prison. Pros: None I can think of Cons: Paranoid, No cameras or diaper bags, Workers are nasty. more

Do not go there! 8/31/2007

I'm so glad that I read phenomenah's review before I went! I took his advice and went to Lewin Farm where peaches were indeed large and juicy. The guy working there was really nice and friendly, too. My friends and I went to Davis Peach Farm after having a great experience at the Lewin Farm, thinking maybe it wouldn't be so bad and we can pick other fruits from Davis Farm. First of all, we saw the many signs that said no this no that which included ""no diaper bags, no pocket book"". And when we asked them how it works with the fruit picking, the female that seemed to be the manager told us to read the sign, which said -$10 minimum, if you go over you pay the difference, if you have less than $10 worth of peaches we are even. They were absolutely mean and paranoid and we decided not to pick any fruits there, seeing that the review was absolutely true. As we were leaving, we saw that they actually had police there trying to have them arrest this guy who was ""picking peaches for too long"". He actually paid to pick and everything but it seemed that they told the police that the guy didn't pay and was trespassing. The police officers even looked annoyed and said they can't arrest him for picking peaches when he actually paid (the information the woman omitted over the phone to the police). The woman replied and said, ""but he was there for over an hour and we found him in the trenches and he could've been eating all the peaches."" We were all like, are they for real? We left astonished and wondered how they even have a business treating people like that. I will never go there again. Pros: I was happy when I left the property Cons: I visited the property more

DO NOT PICK PEACHES AT DAVIS PEACH FARM 7/21/2007

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT PICK PEACHES AT DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

HORRIBLE, HUMILIATING experience 8/12/2006

I went to this farm yesterday with my two sisters and was SHOCKED at our treatment. First of all, only 3 rows of peaches were made available for picking - and the peaches were all the size of walnuts - and unripe. When we found nothing large enough to take home, we were walking out of the orchard when 2 male workers started following us into the parking lot. They pointed to their MANY signs (no strollers allowed, no this, no that, charge for this, charge for that) and asked us if we had not seen the ""$10 minimum"" sign. When we refused to pay $10 to merely look at their unripe peaches, the horrid, psychotic female manager screamed at us, ""We're going to take your car make and model and license plate number - and if you ever try to come pick peaches here again, we'll have you arrested for trespassing!"" So we went around the corner to Lewin Farms where the peaches were large and juicy - and the person at the counter was friendly and warm. DO NOT GO TO DAVIS PEACH FARMS!! It was like going to peach-picking bootcamp or something! Cons: Unfriendly staff, unripe fruit, limited picking options more
