I have been going to Deborah for 12 years and I always get compliments on my hair! Deborah always comes up with something new and fresh to do with my hair so there's no chance I'll ever get bored with it! Deborah did a great job coloring my hair using the balayage technique. I am very very VERY picky when it comes to my hair. Being Asian, I wanted to make sure my color looked very natural; Deborah definitely made my hair look pretty and natural. I highly recommend her for color. more

Rachel knew exactly what to do! I told her I spent little time on my hair & wanted something low maintenance. The attention to detail was unprecedented, at least in comparison to the other stylists I've been to over the years. The best thing is that the cut still looks great when styling it myself! Rachel suggested products to enhance my style and did so in a respectable & nonpushy manner! I received numerous compliments the minute I left the salon, which by the way has an atmosphere that is very calming and relaxing! Rachel did an incredible job and I would highly recommend her. You won't be disappointed at Daquila ~ the salon, the stylist, and their website (great job Robert!) are all first class! more

I came to Daquila by chance after moving to Pittsburgh for school and having some bad experiences at other salons that had reputations for being well-visited but I didn't find them satisfactory because of price, atmosphere and styling. On a student budget, Daquila always has great coupons or special offers. They have a super friendly front desk and all of the stylists are well-trained. At other salons not every stylist is that great. Here I feel I could go to anyone if I needed to and come out looking great. The salon atmosphere is de-stressing. You're not crowded by too many people or stylists working at once like in many salons I tried. And the stylists will listen to you. They're not trying to force a vision on you. They'll give you advice if you ask but they'll do what you would like. You won't get a bad hair cut or color here. I didn't really like my hair or feel it was manageable before I came to Daquila. I just let it be, but the stylists here changed my hair and my attitude towards it. Now I'm sad to be leaving Pittsburgh at graduation. Wish I could bring Daquila Salon with me! I'm going to really have to search for as good of a salon and someone who can do highlights that look so natural growing out. P.S. Pick up Aveda pure abundance range here if you want more volume to your hair and have never found another product that worked. This range really does! When the hairdresser I had been using for years moved out of state I had my hair done at 5 different salons in the city. Then I tried Daquila's - Deborah the owner did my hair. I'm an older woman with natural, straight brown hair and I like the look of highlights but most stylists don't listen to my request for a natural look and go ahead and bleach my hair out. Deborah however, did listen to my request. We had a consult before she did my hair - highlights and styling. She was able to give me advice about my cut and to my surprise this is the BEST haircut I have ever had. Someone stopped me on the street to ask where I got my hair done. My hair looks beautifully natural - like I've been sunning on the beach for a few days. Pros: Beautiful setting, professional work Cons: A bit pricey, but worth it. more

I was referred there by a fellow student. I saw her cut and it was amazing and this was first time I was going to try a hair cut in pittsburgh and it is hard to trust a salon you have never cut before so when I saw her hair I was like where did you have this haircut? And pop comes the name of Daquila. It was an amazing experience. Joanna cut my hair and she was highly patient which I appreciate very much in terms of hair as we tend to be fussy about the haircut. If it goes wrong then you have months to wait before it grows back. She gave me a really nice cut and then also did my hair complementary. Being a student it was expensive but due to their awesome discount plans I got a good discount but at the end of the day it was a value for money. I just wish they do some more discounts for students on their id!! I have referred friends here and be sure to check it out yourself! I consider myself a person who knows talent when it comes to hair salons. I have had my hair cut at most all of the well known Pittsburgh area salons and in NYC at Nick Arrojo's, Oscar Blandi, John Barrett Salon, and the Butterfly Studio just to name a few. It's my thing some people buy watches in Chinatown or shoes at Barney's I get my haircut whenever I go to New York City. I have very fine straight color treated hair so finding someone who can cut my hair has always been a challenge. What impressed me about Daquilla is they use natural light when they apply color to your hair (no surprises when you walk outside). I also like my haircut. I knew it the next day when I styled it myself. I am very pleased with this salon. They do offer coupons on the website which is nice especially if you are having both cut and color the same day. As well as little discount coupons for repeat customers. I would recommend this salon I see Deborah she is the owner. I had a really terrific experience at Daquilla back in March. It's been so long since I have walked out of a salon and actually LOVED the hair cut that I got so much that I didn't immediately rush home to try to fix it myself. I can say many positive things about Daquila Hair Color Studio but I will mention a few.... Personal attention,no cookie cutter approach to hair care. I have seen the stylists treat everyone's hair different. We all look unique when we leave. The appts are easy to schedule, I can always get an appt even with my busy schedule. Easy and free parking, no loud music or lots of people talking on cell phones, more calming atmosphere, which I appreicate after a busy day. When I first arrived I met Danielle and we sat down for a consultation. She asked me questions concerning my work, hobbies etc. She suggested that we radically change my hairstyle as it did not fit my personality. She stated ""you should always strive to match hairstyle to lifestyle"" and a week does not go by that someone does not compliment my hair and color. I will go no where else! I lived in five different countries including 10 years in the US. I always had a problem finding a good hair stylist. A friend recommended Daquila's. This was almost four years ago and I still go there exclusively. Shadyside neighbourhood location is great; the salon space is contemporary and pleasant; the service is prompt, always punctual, and staff is very friendly. Best hair cuts and highlights! I have been going to Daquila's for 3 years now. I have been many salons in my travels and never returned to any specific salon b/c there was always one or two things i wasn't satisfied with. yes, I'm picky, but when it comes to my appearance, I'm the one who has to live with it and I want to feel comfortable and look the way I want to look. I first went to Daquila's bc a friend of mine worked there and he did awsome with the color and cut I wanted. Since he was my friend, he knew my personality and it was easy to incorporate that into my style and color. After he stopped working there, I continued to go there hoping the results would be the same. I do not request any of the stylists b/c so far I have gotten a different one every time and always get the same, perfect and amazing results. At Daquila's, just explain what you want an they will make sure they understand what that is and deliver excellent results. You want something, you get it there exactly the way you wanted it. Easy as that. I moved out of the area and have to drive an hour just to go to that salon b/c I know they'll do it right. That's why they need more salons around different areas, I'm sure they'll do great wherever they set up shop. Scale of 1-10 on results, +15! I was so pleased to learn that our favorite senior stylist, Matthew Murphy, had left the high pressure salon on Walnut Street and was relocating to Daquila's Salon in the East End.
