Dane's Dairy

When I first ventured to Iowa City almost 20 years ago I stumbled upon Danes and my love affair with Ice cream began in earnest! Since discovering DANES, I have tasted and tried almost all the ice cream places in the area (see my list of reviews if you don't believe me!) but I still find myself when I am in the vicinity, heading towards DANES for a tasty treat.....it's almost like my van knows the way all by itself! LOL Seriously, DANES has fabulous ice cream but alas...it isn't open all year around so at this time of year it is closed up tight......BUT...next spring when the flowers are budding and the trees beginning to show green, DANES will open again and you will be able to see for yourself what wonderful ice cream they have.....trust me, I'd never let you down! more

Dane’s Dairy is a place you really must visit if you love ice cream. There are several flavors to choose from. They even have a location on First Avenue by the Hy Vee. This location is out by the airport if you are one who needs land marks. Dane’s Dairy has been around for 25 or more years. I really do not know how long. more

I know I just reviewed an ice cream store in Coralville, but it dawned on me that if I was going to review one I had to review Dane's Dairy. After all, Dane's has been around as long as the Dairy Bar and it WAS one of the first places I frequented when I first moved to the area 20 years ago! Dane's dairy is conveniently located just off the main drag in Iowa city. Another small ice cream place, it has the added feature of a drive through window for your convenience! Although I DO suggest you buy this ice cream in gallon containers, I also suggest that you add a couple of cones onto your order because when you see and feel that cool ice cream container, you will be salivating like Pavlo's dog before you get home if you don't satisfy that ice cream urge with a quick cone. The service is friendly and quick here and it is a breeze to get in and out of this place. I cannot imagine Iowa City without Dane's Dairy and I think if you make the trip yourself to Dane's you will agree with me that Dane's is a creamy dream come true! more
