Amazing Custard! 1/17/2006

Nestled in the close-knit community of Del Ray, this little shop offers a delicacy almost unknown anywhere else in the region: Wisconsin-style frozen custard. Richer and creamier than your avergae soft-serve ice cream, this is a treat not to be missed. Owned by a native Wisconsinan, the shop tries to foster a sense of community by offering daily flavors and featuring Wisconsin-themed activities such as bretwurst night. more

Paying for location 8/23/2005

Because this is in upscale Del Rey, it is more expensive than it ought to be. The ice cream and treats are good, that is true, but you'd save a lot of money getting everything from the store and taking it home. They do also have a lot of baked items like cookies and single-serve desserts. On a nice night, this place is very busy and many people are walking their dog with a cone in their hand. Flavor selection is pretty good. more

Mmmmm... custard!! 8/4/2005

It’s like being in the Midwest again (but without the miserably cold winters and super-hot summers!) Del Ray Dreamery makes their own vanilla, chocolate, and “flavor of the day” custards; homemade sorbets and yummy desserts (mmm… truffles!) are also available. An amazing summer treat!! And, don’t miss the monthly brat nights – a true taste of Wisconsin!! more

delicious frozen custard! 8/4/2005

This place is so yummy! You can order vanilla, chocolate, or the flavor of the day, which is posted on their website. They also make their own sorbets with various flavors to choose from each day. I recommend that you combine a scoop of custard w/ a scoop of sorbet.....it's amazing! Neat atmosphere....there's a puzzle in the works on a table in the back, and benches to sit outside when the weather's nice. Also seems very dog-friendly, although they have to wait outside while you order. But you can get them a "puppy pop" (yogurt, banana, and peanut butter) so they can have their dessert too! more
