We initially hired Peter Vress to cut our lawn and learned he was a house painter. We hired him to paint our house and deck. The deck stated to peel within 6 months and he promised to fix it for us and never showed up to do the repaint. He brought a sub contractor to fix our front patio stating this guy was a ""buddy"" and asked us to make the checks out to him (Peter..our 1st mistake) rather than the gentleman doing the work. The job was bigger than originally quoted so we paid more (to Peter...our 2nd mistake) than agreed upon. The patio failed the next winter by buckling, the steps fell apart, and it looked terrible. When we asked Peter for the name of his ""buddy"" so we could pursue him for a fix he (Peter) could not remember his phone # and stated he couldn't find ""the guy. How does one lose a ""buddy""?
Previously,we gave Peter an advance at Christmas time (he was in need of $$) on a interior paint job (before the patio and deck debacle). After the problems with the deck and patio we decided that we didn't want him to paint. He has returned $500 of the $1500 advance and subsequently disappeared. We are left with a peeling deck we have to repaint for $500 (Peter charged us $1,000) and a terrible patio which we had fixed this morning.
We have been more than understanding with Mr. Vress and as such have been trampled on. We are feed up and taking him to court.
Cons: Unreliable, doesn't do the job promised, doesn't stand behin
