Nice salon with friendly people 11/2/2011

In the interest of supplying perspective customers with review that does not reek of personal bias, I would like to tell you a little bit about The Salon. Having not been a customer before the management change, I cannot speak to the difference. However, I can tell you that the staff I have encountered at The Salon have been nothing but professional and friendly. I regularly use the same stylist, but I have not heard anyone behaving ""trashy"" or seen anyone be anything but kind to all patrons. I feel quite comfortable bringing my children with me for appointments since they have a movie room in the back. Please do not base your decision to visit The Salon on the negative reviews from those who obviously took the management change personally. Stop by and see for yourself. more

The Salon is the new name and under new managers. I hated. It is awful. The vibe is negative and unfriendly. They said hi when I came in but just stared at me with a snarl. I went to get just a hair trim and Rebeca used a razor on me. There are chunks that are to my scalp. While I sat there getting a cut Rebeca kept talking ghetto. I am not sure if she knew she was white. She stunk of cigarrettes. If you are going to smoke, then please wash your hands and gargle please. She said she just liked to have fun when she worked but it was white trash. So I got greeted with reluctance, a shotty hair cut, a white trash show and stinky cigarrettes for my service. I wont be back and I will be going back to my old stylist. The only reason I thought I'd try this place was that my hair person went way up on her prices. You get what you pay for and I not only wont be back but will tell everyone not to go. I didn't really get the name of The Purple Cow, but The Salon is a terrible name anyway. I should've known better. The best places I have been to in Rincon are Studio 21 or Glaze. more

Still There but new name 7/13/2010

First of all, the owner, Jennifer, sold the salon and the new name is The Salon. (how original is that?) Jennifer and Johnna are still there, but somone from Studio 21 bought it. I have used both Johnna and Jennifer. They do great hair so it just depends on who can get me as to who I go to. They are really good and very nice. I would give 5 stars but I can't. I used to love this salon. I loved the name and the decorations and the people. It was comfortable and inviting. I hate the decorations now. It is dark and just doesn't fit. I hate the name, but I love most of the girls there. Some of the girls are friendly. I happen to know one of the other girls there, Becky, and she is great too. I've gone to Studio 21 and left it for several reasons and I was upset some of those girls bought it, but I wont stop going. I would use, Johnna, Jennifer, or Becky. more

Some people lack class 5/28/2010

Your review was absolutely terrible! None of the material about Johnna is true and i know that for certain, considering i have known Johnna for almost ten years and never heard anything about her having an affair. And we talk almost every day. Secondly, Johnna is the friendliest, most helpful, most caring individual i have ever met. She is a great friend and is extremely dependable. In my personal opinion Johnna is the best hair stylist there, and that is no offense to the others there, it's just my personal opinion. The nerve of some people! 5/26/2010

U4beal needs to grow up and get a life! What does anyones personal life have to do with how they do hair. I think they are using this as a way to personally attack someone. I have gone to what used to be ""The Purple Cow"" for several years and I love Jennifer and Johnna. I have never had any bad experiences at the salon. Some people just need to learn when to SHUT UP! It is no longer ""The Purple Cow"" , it is under new ownership, but Jennifer and Johnna both still work at the salon. I would recommend both of them to anyone I know to do their hair. I will continue to use them as long as they are doing hair. As long as my hair looks good and I am treated kindly and with professionalism, who cares what goes on outside of the salon. Don't Close 2/7/2010

I am so upset. I never thought I would se this place close. I have loved this salon and have been coming here for years. I have never had a bad anything here. Jennifer is the best hairstylist I have ever been to. I have used people in Savannah from the best salons and Jennifer has done my hair better than they ever did and cheaper. She is also treated me better than anyplace ever has. I am so sad. I know she said she was staying in hair, but I can't help but feel that she doesn't have to close the salon. I told her 5 years ago to get rid of Johnna and she was ruining her business. But she wouldn't do it. Johnna is not friendly. I have been coming here for over 7 years and not once has she spoken to me without me speaking first. She wears tight tops and dresses like trash. She is always texting on her phone and looks like she is mad at the world when she even works. She is having an affair with my friends' husband and has been living with him for months. I think that if she would leave the salon then Jennifer could keep it open. Keep it open, Jennifer. We love your shop. We love you! The best stylists you ever had there was Jamie, Shanna, Autum, and the little brown haired girl. You need people with personality. I LOVE The Purple Cow! 10/16/2009

I love going to the Purple Cow and have been since it first opened. I honestly can't remember how long ago that was. I've only ever had my hair done by Jennifer and Anna. Jennifer has been cutting mine and my brother's, Matthew, hair for a long long time now. He and I both are always extremely satisfied. Anna has colored my hair twice, and bless her heart, seriously. I have very THICK CURLY hair, and it takes about 3-4 hours to color it completely, and I'm always satisfied with it when she's finished! I love when they wash your hair and rub your head, plus all the shampoo and conditioners make your hair smell GREAT! Any time I have a special event to go to, I always go to the Purple Cow to get my hair styled. They always do an excellent job. I highly recommend this salon to everyone, and do any time someone asks me where they should go! Pros: Great cuts, color, service, attention Cons: NONE. more

The Purple Cow is AMAZING 10/16/2009

I use this salon very regularly (when I have the money that is) and every time I feel like every person in the place, especially Jennifer (the wonderful Owner) are good friends. They offer you something to drink most of the time, and they pay very close attention to how you would like your hair. If they do have a negativity towards what you are leaning towards they will tell you straight up what could be a better choice rather then possibly making a mistake. Of course they know it is your decision, but as hairstylists they also like to give good tips. They are very very good at hair cutting and the coloring process is wonderful. I will always keep The Purple Cow my salon. They are 100% worth going to. They will make you feel at home and make you feel great about your hair! Great Salon 7/17/2009

I just vistied this Salon yesterday for the 1st time and all i can say is WOW! This Salon is so nice. It has a very unique look. The girls are very personable. Shanna was my stylist and she was great. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and she did a perfect job. Jennifer the owners of the Salon was there and she also took time to talk to me, and get to know me. I will be back for sure and I will also recommend everyone I know to Purple Cow. more

PURPLE COW/PURPLE HAIR 6/10/2009

Moved from Atlanta & referred to Purple Cow because they use Goldwell products. I read the reviews & wanted an appt w/Jennifer. She couldn?t see me for a few days & Kim Barrata readily offered her services & could do my hair the next day (Mistake?she is too available). I have my formula ?how can you mess that up? (Mistake?believing that). Immediately, I saw Kim was scattered (Mistake?red flags). As Kim was doing my chunks Jennifer told her she had never seen it done that way (clipped on top of my head with no foils). I had made that comment. (Mistake?not addressing that). When done, my hair looked very dark, but I attributed it to lighting and being wet. Kim didn?t know what to charge me (huh?) & Jennifer said $126. (Mistake?not addressing that). The next morning, I had purple/burgundy hair). I called Jennifer & she said she?d be glad to look at my hair. I also asked her to break down what I was charged. X amount color, X amount chunks, & X amount cut. I DID NOT GET A CUT. She apologized. The next day she looked at my hair, told me it was not my formula & Kim had put the wrong color on. She kindly agreed to fix it (her salon, her hairdresser?s mistake) but my concerns?how do you color a darker color with a lighter color & damage so I opted to let it fade. I then asked for my $26 back. I wrestled with this color for the next 4 weeks and Jennifer again said she would redo it. Fear stopped me. However, I made an appt w/Jennifer in 4 weeks to get this color thing right. Jennifer was not feeling good that day & said she didn?t know if she could stand long enough to do my hair but didn?t want to cancel because of what I had been through (Mistake?should have rescheduled). She & her staff told me about some unusual events that occurred with Kim and that she no longer worked there and that the review about Kim for Purple Cow was placed there by Kim?s daughter (can?t imagine a good review from anyone else). Seems Kim told me some tales about her work experience (Mistake?check out potential hires). To my 6 hour appt: Jennifer said she would always remember my formula because of the ordeal. She mixed my color & I asked if it was correct. Unsure, she began to look for my card Kim had filled out - gone w/Kim. I called home, got the formula & what Jennifer had mixed was again not the correct formula. She said it was a little lighter than my formula but it was strawberry blond and she used it on her mother-I said fine as long as it was lighter not darker (been there). Since Jennifer did not feel good (Mistake) I said someone else could do my color (we got this down now?right). Lindsay did my color. Lindsay is great, personable, hip so this is nothing against her. About 2/3 done, I asked if she was doing chunks-no- highlights. I don?t want highlights. She said she was not told that by Jennifer. She suggested we finish and then look. I hated it and wasn?t about to leave again and hate my hair for the next 6 weeks. The color was nothing close to what I wanted & you could not see any strawberry because of all the highlights. Jennifer comes over, says she is feeling better and will do my hair (1st time). Do you think I even remember what my hair color is supposed to look like? 6 hours later, I left & was offered no conditioning treatment after my hair had again been tortured. Today my hair feels like hay & I don?t know if it will ever be the same as it was before I moved to Rincon. Everyone at The Cow is nice, as in the reviews, but how many times do you mess up with 1 person? You decide ? that?s what these reviews are for. Best Salon!! 5/6/2009

I just moved to the area and had been to several salons with no avail! Most of the salons had poor customer service and really just made me feel like I was more of an inconvience than anything. I have found a place at The Purple Cow! Shanna was my stylist and she really seemed interested in making me happy and making me look good! This is a definite A+ in my book!! Best salon expereince. 5/2/2009

I was in the Purple Cow Salon a few days ago, my stylist was Lindsay. I loved going in and finding a great atmosphere. The cut and color expereince was amazing. You can go to a salon, but this is an expereince. Thanks for the great jod Lindz!!! Pros: Listens to you. more

I absolutely LOVE the Purple Cow! The place is nice and clean and the people there are so nice. I got my hair done there last month by one of the workers Kim Barratta, ans she was soooooo sweet. I don't know about other salons and what they practice, but this place is different than most businesses. When I went to The Purple Cow, Jennifer, the Owner, was so great. She was nice, genuinely nice. That is so hard to find these days. I know a hair person should have skills, and she certainly does, but you have to be able to really listen to what people want. I go in there and pour my heart out and she listens. I have been going there for years now. My haircuts and the color is fantastic and always have been. What keeps me coming back is Jennifer. She came to my kids graduations, she sent all of us cards for various events in our lives and even visited me in the Hospital and did my hair. (No one asked her to. She just did it) That is amazing in my book. I know that if you didn't like your hair for whatever reason she would fix it. It's not just my family she treats this way. There are plenty of my friends she treats the same way. She has a few other hair people in her salon and the way they react to one another is funny. They really like each other. Jennifer and Johnna go to all the hair shows and it shows in their work. I've seen other reviews for other salons and I can't imagine going to a place that treated me terribly, but also remember that No One is perfect. Some will like this Salon and some wont, but I suggest giving this place a try. more

Great service!!! 7/31/2008

I had an amazing experience here! My hair person was Jennifer, the Owner. She was so sweet and really great with my hair. The first few times I've been there she offered me a drink. The last time she offered me a drink she realized they were out of cokes. She sent someone to get me a drink ( behind my back). That is amazing to me. My hair has never looked so great. But really, I just like the way she treats me. I recently got a new color and was unsure I'd like it. I did, but 2 days later Jennifer called me to make sure I really did like it. The girls that work there are very nice. The salon is a little understaffed, but I don't care. Jennifer spent so much time with me and helping me pick out the right colors. She took time with my hair cut and I just felt so pampered. I was a little irritated with the girl that has her station next to hers, Jonna. I asked her if she could cut my kids hair and she said she didn't do children's hair. You do hair don't you? So I do think that Jennifer should make sure her employees do everything that they offer. Other than that this place is so fantastic! This is The only place to get your haircut if you are into your hair. Pros: Service, skilled, and they do little girl parties!!!!!! Fun ! The Purple Cow is amazing. I had Anna as my stylist and this is by far the best cut and color I have ever had. I use to go to Savannah to get my haircut and was just not completely happy with my results. When I got done, Anna had done an amazing job. The other stylists were also very friendly and the decor was cute and fun. I will definitely let all my friends know about this fabulous salon! more

Fantastic! 4/3/2008

I love this place. Autumn is my hair dresser and she does a fantastic job. I was referred to the salon by a friend of mine. She bragged about it for so long I had to try it. I love my hair, the salon and my hair dresser. The only complaint I have is that my friend bragged on getting a head and shoulder massage and I've never gotten one. Autumn has never offered me one. That kind of irritates me. I see the other customers get it, but I never get one. Maybe she just forgets but anyway she does great hair. Also, the girl with the blue hair is forever on the phone. It seems to be attached to her ear. She is on it everytime I come. I am offered a drink everytime I come to the salon and I think that is a nice change of pace. If you are thinking about going, I highly reccommend Autumn or the Owner. Fantastic place! Pros: Great place and love my hair. more

Red Carpet Service! 3/25/2008

I was in a big hurry and really just needed my hair styled.I didn't have time to go to Savannah.( I usually go to B Street in Savannah.) I showed them the last cut I received from another Salon. She opted to fix it or let me grow it out. We compromised and it is really working. It still needs work, but it is better than before. She sent me a thank you card and a gift certificate.
