Worst

I see so much potential for Cyrano's, but they're falling short. The service is supremely slow, and the entrees are mediocre. The desserts, in all fairness, are really good, but I...

Have been to Cyrano's maybe 10 times over the years, my nephew used to work there for a while, plus it is one of the few places that stays open late on weekends and they have a fireplace which I Iove sitting by. They've always been known for their desserts which are excellent overall. However, the other night I elected to have 2 scoops of ice cream - chocolate and cinnamin - chocolate was nearly tasteless. But the BLT sandwich was superb as was the very authentic French Onion Soup. Their menu seems to have changed since I was last there over 2 years ago. More traditional fare now. Maybe the older menu is why there are crabby reviews on this site below. Also, a lot of the wait staff are Webster U students which maybe explains some of the waitstaff complaints, but don't be so fussy these are college kids. Were you perfect at that age? Maybe people should share their complaints with waitstaff in real time so they can get better. I will keep going back to Cyrano's however. more

Do not waste your time! 1/25/2009

I was very excited to go to Cyrano's last night since I had heard that it was a place I had to visit. After wasting my money there, I can't imagine why ANYONE would waste their time with that restaurant. Our waitress was inattentive and bordering on rude. The food (roast beef sandwich and fries) was mediocre and pricey considering the tiny portions. The orange crepes were gross, but the bread pudding was very good. I generally don't eat a lot, but I left hungry and had to make something else to eat once I got home. I will definitely not return. Pros: Bread pudding Cons: Parking, service, price, portions more

A little pricey but neat place - 'eclectic' 5/23/2007

I Keep Hoping 4/2/2006

I've eaten at Cyrano's many times. Every time I return I hope that they might have gotten just a bit more enthusiastic about their clientele. The place has such potential. In fact I met my husband at Cyranos so what could be more special than returning to Cyranos to eat our wedding dinner? We even told the help at Cyranos the significance of our dinning there that evening. You would have thought they would have at least gotten a bit joyful or attentive considering the significance of the day for us...but nope...as always...the only thing that really is exceptional was the Bread Pudding. It is so sad that Cyrano's just can't crank it up a notch. Are the employees not happy or something? Pros: Good Parking, Bread Pudding, Location Cons: service, main courses, prices more

So-so, yet pricey food; Nice dessert 11/18/2005

You know there's a problem when your dessert portion is as big as your main entree. I had the steak and it was barely the size of a hamburger patty. My wife had the pork tenderloin, and we shared the pan-seared tuna appetizer. Now, she's the type who usually gets full after only a few bites, yet both of us were sitting there hungry after these three dishes, when we should be satisfied and savoring the taste. Their signature dessert, flambees prepared tableside, was all hype and too expensive. The bread pudding was actually quite good. Overall, I was not pleased - tasty, but way-too-small portion dishes; friendly, yet somewhat slow service; and the noise level is ridiculous. I will not come back for meals, and probably not even for desserts, it's just not worth it. Pros: Delicious food, Moderate price menu Cons: Not good value, Overblown desserts, Too noisy more

Not what I expected... 10/14/2005

I had a nice time here. The atmosphere is fun. There is no smoking, so I enjoyed that. The main focus of this place is on the desserts. Our meals were small, although not inexpensive and I think they were good quality. Our dessert was big (they all come out with this mass of whip cream on top), but I'd prefer something smaller that was better tasting. It was just a bunch of ice cream with whip cream (out of a can). Plus my wine had cork all in it, and it took us forever to get the waitress' attention to get a new one. She kept walking by without even a glance or close enough to get her attention. We finally asked the busboy for a new glass, which came back with a little corkand I just dealt with it. We may go back, maybe. more

Go for dessert 9/8/2005

While the small bites of food I had were tasty, this place should really be portrayed as a dessert place only. The only reason my family and I have ever gone to Cyrano's in its old location before it closed and now in its new location is for the humongous chocolate clepatras. These are total sensory indulgences of chocolate and ice cream. A St. Louis Must. Pros: Dessert Cons: small food portions more

Cyrano's a big disappointment 7/25/2005

I was excited to visit the new location of Cyrano's, but quickly disappointed. Our waiter was arrogant and rude, as were his trainee and another waiter who was assisting him. They stood around our table making rude comments that they thought were funny when we didn't need them, and when we needed service they were nowhere to be found. The soda was flat, the food was average and the portions small. The saving grace of the experience was our ever-present water server who graciously filled our glasses after every couple sips. He was friendly, courteous, and attentive. Overall, I was quite disappointed and miss the ambiance and class of the Big Bend location. more
