First Experience 4/24/2010

We recently visited your new location on NW Hwy off 635 in Mesquite. We search the web looking for a good mexican restaurant when we remebered your new location that we pass enroute to our church weekly. We looked it up in the web and saw the good reviews that your reastaurant has received. Regarding today's visit , we were very disapointed with the quality of the food we ordered as well as the service. I was amazed that our waiteress said less than five (5) words through out our visit. We asked for more hot sauce (which we were willing to pay extra) and an order of tortillas that were brought to us towards the end of our meal. The overall price was cheap as it matched the food and service in this visit. I would have rather paid more and would have rather had good service and good hot food. I am reminded what my grandmother use to say: You get what you paid for. I'm sure that we caught you guys on the wrong night however I can't afford to make mistakes when eating out since we do this as a relaxation event as a family. My view today as for a return visit to your restaurant is: Thanks but no thanks. Pros: Good Enviroment Cons: Dissapointed on Food Quality and Service more

A great neighborhood restaurant 1/25/2007

A few of us were visiting Dallas, and a local took us here. This place is excellent! Keys to a delicious Mexican restaurant: 1- Lots of Mexican diners; 2- Fresh tortillas; 3- Regional dishes. Cuquita's has all three. I had the posole, and it was delicious. Every other dish I tried was great, too. I can't compare it against any other Mexican place in Dallas, but I probably never will. Everytime I go back, I'll just head to Cuquita's. Pros: great food Cons: nah more

I heart Cuquitas! Excellent traditional Mexican food. 11/5/2006

OH how I love this restaurant. If you are wanting authentic ""just like my abuela made it"" mexican food, then this is your place. The 2 hot sauces are out of this world and just spicy enough to make it interesting. You simply won't find another restaurant in town that has salsa like Cuquitas, so enjoy it. Soon after you arrive they'll bring you complimentary tortillas to eat with your salsa. They are fresh as fresh can be!! My menu fav is the Chilaquiles con Chorizo. It's a yummy combination of pan fried tortillas strips, cheese, peppers, tomatoes, egg and finally chorizo (mex sausage). Forget your diet and try them. The rice has a homemade flavor and the beans are simple but satisfying. My next menu fav is the Chicken Mole Enchiladas, which are technically not on the menu. Just order them and they'll bring 'em no questions asked. The mole is delicious, sweet and savory. Ask for extra mole on the side! I would also recommend the nachos, queso flameado and the flautas. This place is open LATE, so late it's almost EARLY! Try to get a table inside the main ""house"" for the sake of ambiance and don't worry about not being able to speak Spanish. The waitresses know enough English to take your order and give you great service too. Pros: Yummy salsa, great mole, chilaquiles for breakfast Cons: Usually very busy, they serve margarine instead of butter. more

Cheap and Cheerful 11/29/2002

If your wanting the same old tex-mex, don't go to Cuquita's. This is an older well established Mexican family restaurant, where locals and cops on lunch break can almost always be found. Traditional dishes at increadibly affordable prices. Friendly service and occasional mariachi bands typify the atmosphere - breakfast, lunch and dinner, closed Mondays, open early to late otherwise. more
