Disappointed 4/29/2012

Cucina is one of the most overrated overpriced so called ""Italian"" deli. I've eaten there three times and each experience was worst than the last! The last and final time I ate there I decided to try the meatloaf sandwhich. The meatloaf was undercooked the tomatos were not fresh and the cheese tasted old. When I asked if I could order something else instead the waitress rolled her eyes and seemed very inconvenienced. For the sake of good customer service and repeat business I would have thought they would have apologized and offer to refund my money. I ended up ordering a small salad just so I could leave. The coffee is horrible yet they claim on their website it's the 'best', only if you're comparing it to the water in Mexico! The owner is a complete snob when he's actually there and more interested in flirting with his waitresses than making sure his guests are enjoying their meals. The worst is all the nats that are visible flying all over the meats that are about to be served in a meal. It's obvious Cucina is nothing more than a generic stale version of Italian inedible food. I'll stay with Subway! more

healthy food and pretty consistant 12/9/2010

we like having this place right here in the neighborhood. it's good healthy food. It doesn't leave you feeling as if you've eaten restaurant food, rather it's like a freshly prepared meal that leaves you feeling like you've eaten well for lunch. more

Healthy Awesome Food & Atmosphere 2/17/2010

This is a great place to eat. Good Fresh Bread from Crumb Brothers is served here. The selections of entrees and salads are excellent, and all fresh homemade. In the summer time they make a great frozen lemonade. Coffee is OK. but wish it were better, though refills are free. It is a great place to hang by yourself, meet with friends, or to read the morning news papers or great local rags like the Catalyst Magazine, which can be found here, and the copies are free. Pros: Good Bread, Fresh Homemade Entrees, Cons: Coffee OK, wish it were better more

comfortable - cozy atmospher . . . delicious food . . . 2/14/2010

I love Cucina. It always feels like a special occasion whenever I walk through their door. Everyone is helpful and friendly! The owner is always pleasant and welcoming. I love getting the salad sampler (which comes with your 4 choices) . . . the pesto cranberry salad is my favorite. Great please to take friends and family. My daughter and her friends love when I take them there for a special girl's - only lunch! Pros: best salad sampler choices in town! Cons: non more

great fresh food, lovely atmosphere, nice staff 4/5/2008

I really like cucina. Food is for the most part always delightful. The iced tea is some of the best. The location. The perfect Patio. The only thing is the moody owner, who probably gives all the cute girls there a hard time or maybe he comes off as being too flirty. Nice loafers btw. He is eternally golfing ( or looks like it ) My biggest complaint is there is no tip line on the credit receipt slip. I have asked the owner about it before and his arrogant response was that , if i wanted to tip i could just tell him before hand. What a joke. Those girls deserve to be tipped, they have to deal with him and half the yuppies that come in there. GO AVENUES. HA Pros: great food, atmosphere, location, lovely staff Cons: funny manager, a little pricey. more

Spotty service, decent food 11/19/2006

I live about a block from Cucina. I find that about half the time their service is ok. They offer a lot of pretty yummy food, but I find it a bit pricey for a deli. Their lattes are not so good and their coffee is decent when it is fresh. The last two times I went in their coffee was lukewarm. The first time, when I brought it back they offered to microwave it for me (mmm microwaved coffee)... the second time I got cold coffee I told them and the guy at the counter said ""oh sorry"" and went back to what he was doing. If you have nowhere better to go and you want passable food in a nice italian cafe atmosphere go to cucina, if you want some real coffee go to Two Creeks down the street on 3rd and G. Pros: Ambiance Cons: bad coffee, spotty service more

Second location in Old Mill Business center is poor 10/22/2006

Cucina recently opened a second location in the Old Mill business center. The 5$ sandwhich frequently comes with 2, maybe 3 pieces of meet and for some reason the wheat bread has been stale 2 out of 3 times. Pros: Close to employess of Old Mill Cons: Poor product, expensive, poor service from management. more

great locale, really enjoy it 1/9/2006

This is a great place. I love the atmosphere, and the regulars. Being from the neighborhood helps of course, but I've always had a good meal here. It's a good sized menu for the type of place it is, and they're always coming up with good daily specials. more

Wonderful! 10/15/2002

I was introduced to Cucina by a friend and I'm so glad she did! The atmosphere is great and the food was wonderful. Try the meatloaf sandwich - yum. Pros: Great Food, Variety on Menu, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

I love Penny 8/28/2002

Penny Murphy, the chef at Cucina does such a refreshing job at Cucina. I love the fact that there is always something new to try and the staff is helpful with suggestions at lunch time. We bring staff from the office all the time and although the line is long, we have always had great experiences. Keep doing a great job Cucina, you are appreciated. Pros: patio, gazpacho more

NOt worth the hype 8/9/2002

We went at lunch- they are pretty busy and possibly can't pay attention to details as well during that time. Our group's food came out at different times. I had to ask twice about my order, which I got halfway through the other's meal. The salads are pricey so go for the smaller portions. The sandwiches are filling. The desserts are ordered in and are rather small. Pros: patio dining Cons: service, price more

Lunch or dinner in a snap 6/27/2002

The prepared meals here are outstanding -- no matter what you choose. It does get pricey, but this is quality food we're talking about. The folks here take pride in packing stuff up for the ride hom, too -- so no worries about it ending up on the floor of your car. And ask for a sample of whatever you're interested in. Pros: Superior quality Cons: A bit pricey more

Best Sandwiches ...& Brownies EVER 6/10/2002

Go for the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich or the Portabello Mushroom on foccacia.... the bread is made fresh daily (by Volker's) and the drizzles are first rate. I have a brother from San Francisco who makes it a point of stopping here first---yes folks, it is THAT good. Take a brownie home with you too. They won 't get fudgier nor chewier than these! The take out food for dinners are great too. Try the Thai beef and the elaborate rice dishes. And in the crisp fall air, go for a cup of Pumpkin Leek soup... you can't miss here. Cucina: best lunch spot in Utah. Pros: Great Avenues locale Cons: lunch crowd huge more
