Critter corner should have been shut down a long time .They keep the animal enclosers in terriable conditions. They have puppys in aquariums, selling sick animals, while also breeding mice in substrate that doesnt look like its been changed in two months. Just recently about a month ago we bought a majave ball python. Mind you that i didnt even want another snake but this snake was so small it looked like it hasn't ate since it was born. I felt so sorry for it. So I went ahead and paid the hundred dollars for it. They told me nothing was wrong with it and that it was just small. They also told me that it was a pastel ball python and was a little over a year old . It was neither. I have enough exp. with ball pythons to know the diff. between a pastel and a mojave ball python. Also i could tell that this was just a baby. We took him home and did everything we could to get him to good health. but he was to far gone, and died 20 days later. Ball python hatchlings weigh around on average 80 grams. This little guy when we got him only wieghed 31 grams.\r We went in there todayto get some mice and there was a ball python that looked like he was dead. He was shedding but couldnt get the shed off cause he was to dry. He was just laying there with his mouth opened and he was all shriveled up. You could tell he was dehydrated and looked like he had the begining stage of mouth rot and who knows what else. They had him in there with another ball python so im sure that one will be sick now to. When I asked the girl if he was dead she said that they thought that a couple of weeks ago but hes fine.. The empolyees there have no knowledge about tha animals what so ever...they treat the animals like crap and expect them to live in it too... so please please help these animals and get this place closed down. DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY, SHOP ELSEWHERE and SPREAD THE WORD THANK YOU more

First off I would like to say critter corner is awesome!! Locally owned an operated by the same person for 20 plus years.. So they must be doing something Right or they would have been closed a long time ago, especially in a town like ours!! I don't think people realize how hard it is to have you're own bussiness an work there at the same time!! I did some research an read the reviews they have gotten .. An here s just a few I found out.. Dead fish in tanks yes could happen but also iv seen it a big stores like Walmart an meijers where they have or should have the staff to keep up on that!! When you can only afford so many employees at a time , they have a system an maybe can't get every dead fish at once if there s customers or what not to handle.. But they do take care of it an there animals! Also I found out when there shipped an they go in a tank not all make it. So there he just lost $ an did nothing wrong! A lot of mice , gerbiles, ect. In same place .. It doesn't hurt them and there s many reason why they are set up that way. People need to know what they are really talking about an if you don't really know about the animal s I mean really know like the owner then give it a rest.. As far as everything else iv read I'm sure there is two side to every story an have always heard an seen them make it right if something would occur!! So I m giving them a great review because I know from having you're own bussiness is not all easy an perfect an do know many people who do go there an will always, so Keep on keeping on critter corner.. more

I would not recommend this pet store one bit. I was excited to go to a store I had never went to. And was absolutely disgusted several dead fish in one tank eating one another. Over 50 mice in one ten gallon tank several tanks had dead rodents in the tanks bigger reptiles being held in tiny aquariums with other reptiles. Puppies looking like they came from a puppy mill and being kept in aquariums??? The dogs, they had two or three being kept in just a small small area such as two boxers with no room to move just lay they there it was heartbreaking and made me so upset. more

If I could give zero stars... 10/9/2012

This place is ridiculous. The animals are all sick and kept in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. The employees are sub par and sadistic- and I'm being generous! I remember going in there as a child to find a guinea pig. That was the last time I went there. Why? Because I have a fear of snakes. Yes it's a pet store. Yes, I knew there would be some. However, after my mother asked where the snakes were, telling them that we needed to avoid them for my sake, they proceeded to chase me (8 years old at the time) around the store with a snake, laughing, until I had a panic attack. Why these people have been able to stay in business these years is beyond me. I tell anyone who asks- don't go to Critter Corner! more

DON'T GO 6/8/2012

I used to love going into critter corner as a kid. But a year ago I went in there and in one visit found FOUR dead lizards in different cages. I told the manager about them and he said one of them he knew had been dead they just hadn't got around to taking it out and it died the week before. The others no one had any idea they were dead. This wasn't the first time I have found dead animals in there either. There was a dead tarantula, guinea pig, and a couple mice. All on different visits. Plus I think he charges WAY too much for his animals. Half of his pups are muts and he's trying to charge $800 for them! You can get a mut just as cute at the humane shelter. The cages to the pups are always unclean. Half of the time the puppies were covered in their own wastes. I stopped going there. I would not recommend anyone else to either. more

Albino Burmese Python 3/4/2012

On February 9 , 2012 We bought an Albino Burmese Python from Critter Corner. We got him home and realized he had mites. And he infected our Boa with mites, who he said we could put the two together. We noticed he's very aggressive. He was flopping around and acting crazy in the cage wouldn't eat, so , we took him to a reptile specialist and he said he has parasites inside his body, and a respitory infection. And he probably won't make it. This store made over $300 off of us by selling us a sick animal. If anyone knows how to have them investigated they need to have it done. If anyone knows who to contact to have their animals checked they need to have it done. Yes this man has been in business for over 22 years or whatever but because he has signs up saying no refunds. He knows exactly what he is doing. He's protecting himself by posting signs and not guaranteeing his animals. Something needs to be done. more

NIGHTMARE 1/17/2011

Actually...I worked at Critter Corner, i looooooved going in there as a kid. Working there was a different story. I quickly realized the place i begged my parents to take me to as a child, was a nightmare. The owner is a complete a**hole. The cages are NOT cleaned multiple times a day. They ARE cleaned everynite. There are loose animals in there all the time. One time, after a set of new puppies came in, I noticed the white german shepard was filthy, Iasked the owner, Pat, if i should give it a bath, he said "yea thats actually a pretty good idea" like he had never thought of this before?! The day I no longer wanted to work there was the day I saw the new puppies coming in...They arrived in a filthy van, with blacked out windows, with tiny cages stacked on top of each other lining the walls of the van. They were filthy and most did not look healthy. I also witnessed Pat telling customers to buy things they "needed" for their new pet, that they honestly did not NEED. He would more

good place to shop 7/15/2010

I have been a customer for over 5 years. This store has been in business for 22 years. So this tells me the owner must be doing something right. They have exotic animals. Dogs and kittens. They are taken well care of. There kennels are washed and sanitized several times a day. They have a local vet they see if needed. Talk about fish. Some of the best choices you will see any place. Fresh water and salt water. The owner sets up the salt tanks in front and does a wonderful job. Lizards you will not see any place else. And the help is trained to tell you all you need to know about the lighting and food you need to keep them healthy. Some times I have talked with new people that dont know as much but talk to the others and you will be fine. Especially the older lady that works there. Yes I have gone in there and you can sometimes have an oder. But you have to understand how many animals go to the bathroom at one time. All animals get cleaned . I watch them when I go in. The employees are more

critter corner kokomo 5/11/2010

I have went to critter corner only because it is the only pet store in kokomo besides pet supplies plus(which has next to no pets anymore) and petco... petco and critter corner are both way overpriced on most of their merchandise... customer service is alot better at petco than CC.... The owner at CC seems to not really care about taking care of the animals he is selling... every time i go in there it smells horrible(alot worse than any other petstore i have been in and ive been in plenty) and about 25% of the pets(non-fish) all have obvious visable problems(raw skin, bleeding, sick looking, puppies that have ribs and hip bones sticking out). Not saying the problems are the owners fault.... but i think he could be a little more selective as to what he sells his customers.... and maybe clean the pets containers more often? One last comment... why would you put puppies who pee and poop all over in aquariums where there is little air circulation and its obvious they arent being cleaned ve more

Wonderful 3/27/2010

I really enjoy going to this pet store it's the only thing around that you can even call a pet store! I have been shoipping at this pet store for around 20 years. This is the only place if you want something hard to find besides the internet. Also the owner is not one of those people who tries to sell you overprised stuff you don't need.! He will show you how to do it cheaper if thats what you want. My only real complaint is that they really need a bigger store. Theres just too much in such a little place sometimes its even hard to walk through the aisles. But overall a really great pet store! more

I like this store 1/2/2010

i like the store we are really close to the owner and the store is not dirty its just a small store overwelemed with animals. i have bought my parrot ricky from there and he is the best bird ever. i highly reccommend this store for any type of animal you want. more

Awful. 10/27/2009

Yes, I will agree that Critter Corner has the largest selection of animals in Kokomo. But they have no compassion for their customers. I recently purchased a chinchilla from Critter Corner. I invested over $300 in this animal and all the accessories. 4 days later it died. I called in on Saturday, but wasn't able to be called back by the owner until Monday. After I finally got a hold of him he said he would offer me 'half off' another chinchilla, that they don't guarantee their animals, and that he hasn't had a chinchilla pass away in 'years'. Not once did I hear a ""Im sorry"". He also had the nerve to pretty much say it was my fault. I followed guidelines to a T. I didn't let it get to cold, or hot, in my home, fed him the right food, and even got purified water so it didn't have to drink tap. Its just not right that more money has to come out of MY pocket because I was sold a sick animal. I don't believe im asking too much for the money that I paid for the pet back, not all of it, just the money for the chinchilla. Also, this wouldn't be the first time I have dealt with this from them. My Mother in Law purchased a kitten from them about 2 years back. After we got home we noticed it would not eat. We took it to the vet who said that she had ulcers in her mouth and was full of worms. We were given medicine to help and took her home, where she died that night of starvation. So, there you go folks. Welcome to Critter Corner. Pros: Good Selection Cons: Smells bad, Dogs in tiny cages, NO compassion more

Not acceptable 6/4/2009

Anyone with any experience caring for animals would know that those at this store are in poor health. Many of the animals are covered in mites and have numerous injuries. Not to mention the poor enclosures. Many animals are housed in cages that are far too small and are a far cry from the proper environment needed for the species. Pros: Wide selection Cons: Poor maintenence more

I love Critter Corner 3/15/2009

I think Critter Corner is by far the best pet store ever. They don't just have cats and dogs, but they have a large variety of animals. I go there all the time to just look around, and compared to other pet stores, their exotic animals are very well priced. more
