I had a great experience at Cristofori Jewelers. After a failed engagement, I needed to sell my engagement ring and wedding band (bought elsewhere). If you’re trying to sell your diamonds, let me tell you, it’s a very challenging experience. First you have to overcome the emotional attachment you have to the jewelry. Second, you have to shop your diamonds around to a variety of diamond buyers. Third, you have to resist the urge to throw up when you hear the prices that buyers are willing to pay for your diamonds. Once you get over the trauma of a broken engagement, it is even more shocking what your diamond jewelry is actually worth when you try to liquidate it. Expect to get a fourth to a third of what you paid for it at retail.\r \r Anyway, after getting insulting quotes from other jewelry buyers, I walked into Cristofori Jewelers expecting the same. However, things were different here. Mark Cristofori, the owner of both jewelry entities in the building, was very upfront with me about how the diamond industry works. He didn’t give me the usual spiel that I got from other jewelers –pointing out flaws in the stones, saying how prices are down, scolding me for not having the GIA certificate, etc. Mark asked me what I hoped to get for the jewelry, showed me how the industry prices diamonds, and helped me get my expectations realistic yet still satisfying. He bought my rings from me at the price I suggested. A few days later though, I had some issues with seller’s remorse, but Mark was flexible, understanding, and trusting. He worked with me until I felt I got a good deal. He offered to split any profits he made after he sold the jewelry to the elusive wholesale buyers, and came through on his promise. He’s a shrewd businessman, but he certainly puts his customers –both buyers and sellers– first.\r \r I would definitely recommend Cristofori Jewelers if you need to sell diamond jewelry. Mark is an honest, compassionate guy who goes out of his way to make customers satisfied. I haven’t purchased jewelry from him yet, but I would totally shop at Cristofori Jewelers in the future, as I saw such beautiful stones, settings, and designs when I was in there. And while I did shop online before going to their store, I have to say that I was very impressed with their engagement ring sales process. I had a general idea of what my fianc? wanted, but I wasn?t familiar with the terminology. They worked with me, my limited ability to describe what I wanted, and came up with the PERFECT engagement ring. I came in with a list of diamonds I found on different web sites including bluenile. Cristofori?s had stones that were virtually identical and they saved me close to $3000. The custom platinum and diamond mounting they built for me was $2500 cheaper than the designer styles I was originally leaning toward. I so happy with my purchase. Thank you Mark! I just bought an engagement ring from Doug B of Cristofori Jewelers. I went through the whole process of choosing a diamond and a setting, never questioning Doug's professionalism. He was honest, not pushy, and extremely informative. He stayed late on numerous occasions to meet my busy schedule. He described the pricing and exactly how the pricing structure breaks down. After I paid for my ring and proposed, I came across this site. After reading some of the reviews I started to worry a little. Doug told me also to not have her take her ring off when she has it cleaned, just as one of the negative review said... So, I started to worry a bit... We went to get it appraised, and the diamond was EXACTLY what Doug said it was, they even said it could be called a VVS2 instead of the VS1 it was graded. Mark helped me find the perfect engagement ring. He was very helpful, honest, clear, and didn't pressure me into anything. He educated me before trying to sell me right away and was very patient through the whole process and made me feel very comfortable. High quality and great prices! When i went to pick up my ring i got to test it with a diamond tester, I thought that was really cool. I couldn't be more happy with my selection and going to this Jeweler. Customer for life! Doug (and Mark the owner) were very helpful in my engagement ring search. I spent a lot of time online researching and spent a day at the diamond building in downtown crossing as shopping around as well. I figured I could save money and get a better deal by going online to Mondera or Blue Nile. That wasn't the case. Doug was able to beat the online price and I think the diamond itself is better than the one I had from the online store even with the nakedeye (GIA certs showed the two stones as nearly identical). I promptly took advantage of Mondera's 30 day return policy and purchased the ring from Doug. He had it ready on time in a custom setting even with a major snow storm, in time for Christmas as well. Highly reccomend these guys. They have a small shop (lower overhead), but had the diamond shipped in that I wanted for me to take a look at before purchasing. I didn't know a whole lot about diamonds when I started shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. So many variables to consider the grade, clarity, cut, platinum or gold ...nevermind the price. After shopping for a few weeks I made a trip to Newton to Cristofori Jewelers. The made me feel comfortable. They took the time to educate me on what I was buying. Over 20 years in business... selling nationally and never undersold. Honest, clear and laid back. Do not buy without going to these guys first.
