Do not talk to their staff member ""Cindy"". She rude, snippy and has an attitude that she doesnt have time for you unless you are selling them all your new house furniture. Their advertisement for selling them used furniture is misleading. I have a glass top dinner table with 4 chairs, 2 recliners, 1 dresser and 1 file cabinet and 2 book shelves to sell. And they say its still not 3 large items. They want me to rent a truck and bring everything to them and then they will decide how much to pay me. Are you kidding me??? Its not like they are a charity organization. I'd rather donate everything to goodwill or salvation army. At least they come and pick it up for free. I shopped there a few times but I don't think I will ever again after this experience. more

I had a great experience selling a living room suit and a dining table and chairs to them. John Kelly came to my house and offered me a fair price. He turned down a chair that was stained, but I understood they only buy stuff decent enough to resale. Anybody with any common sense knows, they have to be able to make some money when they resale it! It was well worth not having to deal with sketchy people from the classifieds coming in my house. I think of it as a service. They give you a decent price for decent furniture and get it out fast. more

When I was cleaning out our family home, I had them come out and look at several pieces. They turned their noses up at all of them. I called Red Collection in greensboro, which specializes in Fine Consignments, and they were glad to take - and sell - everything. It was a stark contrast to FCE who acted like they couldn't be bothered. If you have furniture to sell or you're looking to buy, it's worth it to drive the extra miles to go to Red Collection.\r \r And for the woman who said bad reviewers were just crazy people, I've sold a large amount of items in the last few years. I can tell the difference between good customer service and bad. more

On their TV commercial and website, they claim they will come to your house and look at your furniture. I talked to one of the owners, John Kelly. In my case, he said they could not do so. No reason given. Instead, he wanted me to bring in photos of the furniture. I informed him that I did not want to do that. I did not have much money at that moment to get photos printed and was not about to waste ink printing them from my computer. I recommended that I upload the pictures via e-mail attachments. For whatever reason, he sounded reluctant to do so, but agreed to let me send in the pics.\r \r Many of the items I had (living room, bedroom, dining room, and den furniture) were in great condition as they were not very old at all. Twin bed frames with a nightstand were antiques (circa 1950s) and in great condition. He called me back and for all of this, he offered only $200 for this. I was insulted by this offer. I turned him down and no transaction was made.\r \r I previously had doubts about this company as I had been to their store a couple of times before. No one is ever around if you need help, the items in the store were far more outdated and some unappealing than what I had to offer, and the environment just did not seem friendly to me. I will never go back again and will recommend to family and friends to not even bother with the arrogance of the owner and the lack of staff availability. Very unfriendly business to deal with. more

Dont listen to bad reviews about this place. Probably from people who went nuts on the store and did not get their way. This store and the employees do a great job!! The quality is excellent. It is very clean (bathrooms too). I go to this store once or twice a month. I furnished my whole house from them when I moved back to North Carolina. I sold them a dining suit. They came and got it and paid me and loaded it without incident. They were on time and the person who came out and paid me helped me get my dog in. This business is THE BEST!! I love used/ thrift stores. This is the nicest used store I have ever seen and I have been around a good long while and I have lived in 16 cities. What they do at this business looks like a lot of work to me. They buy everything that they sell from the public (some people are fair and some are crazy) and they buy and sell a lot from what I can tell. . The bad reviews about this place sound like people who did not win with temper trantrums. They have a party every year in August or September just to thank their customers and Ialways try to go because it is very nice. They do more then they have to and no other business does what all they do to make things good for their customers. I love this store! Go in and walk through this place once a month and you will see for yourself. Internet just gives crazy people a place to mouth off! more

The furniture is the generally very, very low quality and the service is the worst I've ever found in a furniture store of any kind. I do not recommend shopping here. To be fair I should note that I have not ever tried selling furniture to them - my experience is only as that of a prospective furniture buyer. more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! I recently went in to buy some merchandise and the level of miscommunication and fumbling of prices and delivery was the absolute worst I have EVER encountered. It took several phone calls with very little effort to rectify the situation or offer any kind of satisfactory solution. I had to even remind them that they had not even apologized for the way they handled everything. Then the delivery person who never showed up on the agreed upon time, told me it was my fault and in the end said his gut told him that I should take care of it myself. This place has NO concept of service or putting the customer first or trying to win back a customer after it and their employee have botched up a transaction. There are plenty of more consignment shops in town that I would highly encourage all to spend their dollars at those places. more

I have used this store to sell furnishings and to purchase furnishings. I felt that we received a decent price when re-doing our downstairs. They came out and gave us a price immediately, came out and picked up the furnishings, very pleased with the way they took care in removing the items from our home. Purchased a China hutch. Again, the people at the loading dock took care in loading it up in our vehicle. You have to check in their shop frequently because the merchandise is always changing and you do not want to miss that piece you have been looking for. Pros: Always something unique more

I was very pleased with the service I received from this store. I felt like the owner gave me a very fair price on the furniture I wanted to sell. It was also helpful that he was prompt after I made the app't. I have been shopping at Consignment Furniture Emporium for the past couple of years. I frequently stop in just to see what they have in the store. I feel it's much like TJ Maxx in the fact that the merchanise changes frequently, giving me an opporunity to have better selections. I recently found the prettiest glass coffee table that would have cost me tons more in a furniture store. Why pay those big retail store prices? When any of my friends are looking for furniture, it's the first place that I tell them to check. I've been on both the selling and buying ends with this company and I will continue to do so. more
