Five Star Pet Care 5/9/2010

People come from all around to receive first-rate and affordable pet care from Dr. Havas. He provides a valuable service to the community during a tough economic time. He only accepts cash but is worth every penny. Pros: Excellent Care Cons: Needs a Bigger Waiting Room more

I love this place 4/6/2009

I've been taking my cats to this vet for a few years now. Once for a neuter, shots, de-claw. The other time for emergency care. I have always been pleased with the level of care my pets and I have received. The staff is always friendly. My only problem with this place is the fact that they are always so booked!! It's hard to get an appointment, but if you have an emergency they will squeeze you in. Highly recommended! Pros: Great prices and loving care Cons: long waits, and hard to get appointments more

No regard for the customers, let alone the animals!!! 1/19/2009

I went to the Long Lake Animal Hospital for my very first visit. I was told to be there between 9:00 am., and 10:00 am. I was one of the first people to arrive there. I waited in my vehicle with the car running because of the frigid temperatures. Other people started to show up and form a line at the front door. (apparently we all had an appointment for the exact same time). I was a minute or two before 9:00, so I got out with my cat to join the crowd. Needless to say, we stood there in the bitter cold at 9:00, 9:05, 9:10, 9:15, etc. NO ONE SHOWED UP TO OPEN UP THE FRONT DOOR!!!! I don't know about you, but I get to work before my scheduled time to get set up and in place. There were people in line with little dogs, big dogs, cats, all shivering from the cold!!! I looked at my cat in her carrier, (SHAKING FROM THE COLD) , and decided this place no matter how reasonable the costs are, is not the place for me or my pet. If this is how they treat people and animals, I want no part of this place. There is no consideration, and no professionalism. It looked like a low cost backroom puppy mill. Sure, I am going to another vet, which more than likely will cost me twice the amount that this place was going to charge, but at least I know my cat will get the best of care. With this place, I don't know that if after I dropped my cat off for spaying, that she would be alive the next day when I came to pick her up. I think this place is under the impression that since they have low prices, that people will put up with anything. WRONG!!!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHATSOEVER!!!! Pros: Cost Cons: Service, Service, Service. Unprofessional and unacceptable more

Low Costs Great Place 12/22/2008

My one year Russian Blue mix Charley was up to get neutured since he had started spraying. I had went to one other vet before coming here and that was the Detroit Humane society, I went there for Charley's ears to be cleaned and they had told me it would be only $60. Little did I know since noone informed me, that was only the walk in fee and I would be billed later for another 100.00. So I had to find another place. I went to Long Lake, they were kind and caring, and reassured me that Charley would be just fine ( I started crying cause they said I would have to leave, he's my baby). When I came back the only thing I didn't like was that the lady who brough him out, had his crate completely tilted up so Charley was smushed into the way back of it. Well After I went to pay the bill, and for his shots and neutering it was only $60! As opposed to The Detroit Humane society who wanted me to pay well over $200 for his shots. If your looking for an inexspensive place that will take care of your pet this is the place. Also be warned, it is usually crowded. more

Caring and compassionate and always make time to help a pet in need. 9/2/2008

The first time I went to this vet was in August of 2007 because my 15 year old large breed dog was barely able to stand and could not control his bowels. We thought it was time to put him down but our regular vet (one of those state of the art, roomy, expensive offices) couldn't get him in because it was a Friday and they were booked up. Long Lake was the only one who would see us on short notice as new customers.\r \r We did wait a long time (about an hour) for the vet to come in to the room but she took one look at our dog and said all he needed was pain meds and anti-inflammatories. Our regular vet saw him once a year and never mentioned pain meds for him. Long Lake gave us another year with our dog because of the knowledge and caring of the vet. When it was time to put him down (Aug 08) we took him back to Long Lake. We had to wait again but it was worth it. The vet and assistants gave my 16 year old dog and my family the caring and respect deserved in our time of grief.\r \r They are very busy and sometimes that causes a little less than perfect customer service - but they are one of the only offices left with vets who still remember why they became vets in the first place. By the end of the day, the office is a little dirty and smells like dog but they always make time for a pet in need and they always make sure that people can take care of their pets even when money is tight. To me, that means more than updated office decor or someone there to hold my hand when I walk in the door.\r \r I would recommend this vet to anyone and have chosen to take my other two dogs there from now on. Pros: Caring Vets, Helpful Staff, Low Prices, Availability Cons: Long Waits To See Vet more

good prices 7/25/2008

I visited the Long Lake Animal Hospital and I was very impressed. They showed much care and answered all the questions that I needed to ask. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially compared to the rest of the vets around town. I would highly recommend the Long Lake Hospital. more

Caring Comapssionate Staff 3/8/2008

I have been taking my animals to Long Lake for 5 years and coudlnt be happier! I cant believe some of the remarks being made about them. I recently bought a puppy from a pet store and was given "" 3 free office visits"" as long as I went to VCA. I did take him there for his first check up didnt receive any better care there than I would at Long Lake. I called Long Lake to get prices for his Vaccination and neuter to compare with the other Vet. Well, Long Lake was $100 cheaper and please keep in mind that I wouldnt have to pay an office visit at either location. All I would be repsonsible for is the Vaccination and Neuter!\r \r I had a cat that became very ill and there was nothing we could do. I met with Dr. Havas and he recommended putting him to sleep becuase of his suffering as well as the toll it was taking on me. I asked him how much it would be and he said, "" i'm not going to charge you, you have been through enough"". What other Vet would do that?\r \r Maybe they dont have the up-to-date facility but they do have the care and concern for our Animals and us! I work in the Medical Field and have learned no matter how nice your facility is or the great customer care you give some people just wont be happy. If your questions and concerns are not addressed according to your satisfaction then there's nobody to blame but yourself. \r \r So, if your looking for great care and cheap prices for your pet..Long Lake is the place. But if your looking for a High Tech, Retro Style Office, okay care with high prices so they can afford to pay the bills...Long lake is not for you! \r \r Deanna\r Pros: Knowledge of staff, Caring, Compassionate, Prices more

Great Prices!!!! They Truly Care about your pet!!!! 2/6/2008

I took my dog Charlie there for his heart worm TREATMENT in early January. I had gotten quotes from many local vets who were going to charge me $500-$700 for treatment with x-rays of his heart, and extra check ups, etc.... Long Lake Animal Hospital only charged me just over $200. They save you money by not giving you the fancy smancy treatments and they still gave him bloodwork and kept him there a few extra days just to make sure he was doing alright. Charlie is happy as ever and has not had hardly any coughing fits! I am waiting for his 6 week ""cage"" period and another check up before I start training him in agility.\r If you love your dog and need anything from a shot to a treatment, I highly recommend this office. Just don't call between 12 and 4 because that is when all the procedures are performed. I recommend getting there early because the seats are always taken but they are busy because they are so awesome!\r Thanks Long Lake!!!! Pros: Cheap treatments, Professional Care, they board animals there so if your treatment takes longer than expected, it is not an issue. Cons: They are soooo busy from their cheap prices and great service that the phones are almost always busy and there is limited seating more

Not for Everyone 5/23/2007

I have been taking my (2) dogs to Long Lake Animal Hospital for a total of (7) years. Long Lake Animal Hospital offers one thing that most of vets do not, fair and reasonable prices. As a result, they are swamped with pet owners, which would like to give thier pets quality healthcare at an affordable price. Because of the crowd, you sometimes have to wait longer than usual for your appointment, the building smells like animals (wonder why). However, I never thought it so disgusting, I could not sit with my dogs in the place. Somedays the staff is so overwhelmed you do feel lost in the shuffle. But Dr. Havas is a very good vet and he cares about the animals. \r \r If you are the type of person that wants the up to date decor, and the staff to treat you special everytime you come in, this place is not for you. Oh, by the way there have been many a time when Dr. Havas' staff has gone beyond the call of duty for myself and my dogs.\r \r As for the 60's decor, my dogs did not seem to mind that either. \r \r Good Luck finding a new vet. Pros: Good prices with a vet who cares Cons: Large volume of people constantly more

Your customer service is horrible. 2/14/2007

I brought my cat in for check up , dental cleaning, and full exam. I have never brought my cat to this vet before. I have to say after this visit I will never bring my cat here again. The place is a dump, it smells like wet dogs. The floor was dirty and the 1960 decor may come back in style some day. When I first walked in NO ONE WAS BEHIND THE MAIN DESK. I didn't know that you have to sign in because NO ONE WAS BEHIND THE MAIN DESK. The place was a complete mess. After dropping my cat off I was told to return after 4:00. When I returned at 4:00 NO ONE WAS BEHIND THE MAIN DESK, several people were waiting in line out the door. Several employees shuffling through a stack of papers, but no one even talking to customers. SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE UPSET BECAUSE NO ONE WAS BEHIND THE MAIN DESK. Nobody knew what to do, as employees slowly come strolling in after their ""lunch"" break. I was directed to walk down a narrow hall to pay my bill, NO FOLLOW UP CARE WAS RECOMMENDED, NOR SUGGESTED. I didn't know if my cat had an infection or not. My cat was never seen by the vet. THIS VET DOES NOT TAKE ANY CREDIT CARDS, I was unaware of this when I picked up my cat because NO ONE WAS BEHIND THE FRONT DESK. The lady who was taking my money was arrogant and rude. I expressed my dissatisfaction with customer service, she didn't want to hear it. She should quit her job because it is a disservice to the customers. I would fire her. The place is a mad house. Please feel free to contact me I would be happy to share how this place is I can be reached at justice_for_us @ yahoo dot com . I hope this place can get it together, they could do so much more business, but they are so disorganized they seem to chase their tails, NO PUN INTENDED. I have to say for service this vet gets a big fat "" NOT RECOMMENDED"" This vet will be to busy to address this complaint, so I brought my concern here. Good luck folks! Pros: location Cons: customer service more
