Totally Overrated! 10/12/2010

I had read so many positive reviews of this restaurant I was looking forward to my birthday dinner here. Unfortunately, I will never go back. The food was good, but not great, and for $200 a couple, I should be wowed. The worst part of the evening had to do with the waiter, however. Not only did my boyfriend have to ask twice for a lime for his apertif, he only received it after we flagged down a different server. Not a huge deal, but he also took my steak to ""box up"" and never returned with it! I hadn't even eaten half of it and when we realized he had never given it to us after we left (we were running late for my birthday party at nearby Republic) I called the restaurant, but no one answered the phone! I called the next day as well and once again didn't get an answer. I gave up and will go to Mahogany next time. Slightly less expensive, and the ambiance is far superior and so is the food! more

Great Make An Impression Restaurant 9/7/2008

If you want to make an impression with your date, or a business client, this is a great place to take them. The food is always very good and the service is wonderful. It is upscale and classy, but also seems to be very traditional not striving to do ""the newest quisine variation"" on the planet as some of the more trendy restaurants are always attempting to do. Pros: Great for making an impression Cons: Somewhat costly, but worth it. more

True fine dining in OKC 2/27/2008

A restaurant like this is all about the chef, and Kurt Fleischfresser is one of the world's best. His credentials are impeccable, and his passion is apparent throughout. If you are in Oklahoma, there is simply nothing to rival the Coach House as a fine dining experience. It is tiny, so there's a good chance you'll meet Kurt. He's passionate and down to earth, so expect to enjoy him. His wine selection is very interesting, with a very significant selection of Australian and South American wines which are cutting edge. Order a mint julep, Kurt makes it himself and it's beyond belief. Pros: Spectacular fine dining Cons: Pricey, the beef isn't great more

He's passionate and down to earth, so expect to enjoy him. His wine selection is very interesting, with a very significant selection of Australian and South American wines which are cutting edge. Order a mint julep, Kurt makes it himself and it's beyond belief. Kurt is brilliant, but I have a couple of quibbles. First and most important, I do not recommend ordering beef. He uses No Name Beef, the only organic, corn-fed ranch in Oklahoma, and their animals just aren't very good. Sad to see such talent wasted with this stuff [for the same reason, avoid Irma's Burgers!]. Second, when you go to this type of place, you want to try a lot of courses. Usually they are tiny, but Kurt's are the size of those at a chain restaurant. An entree is a full meal. Many people like this I'm sure, but personally I want to try everything without getting stuffed, having a huge doggie bag and spending a lot. Pros: Spectacular fine dining Cons: Pricey, the beef isn't great more

The Coach House is an outstanding restaurant. Without question one of the very best in this state and would have no problem serving their food in any city in the US. First stop from san francisco 9/15/2005

There was no host but, that didn't matter because the back waiter upon spotting us came to seat us. I'm a partial veggie and all I could enjoy were the seafood dishes and they weren't s.f. quality but, my girlfriend said everything was amazing. Our waiter didn't have the stuffy pretension that I'm used to in California restaurants. The wine list had alot of wines ranging from 25-80 dollars which was more asthetically pleasing than other places. In the end I think the homemade deserts were the winner my g/f got the choco. cake and me the creem brulee. They had a muscat by the glass that complemented my desert divinely and prises compared to the coasts were nothing $160 after tax and tip w/ a half bottle of pinot. It would have a name in s.f. among restaurants it's type and i'd expect to pay 200+ so due try. Pros: price, desert, server Cons: few desert wines more

Great food, high-priced 7/30/2004

No one expects the Coach House to be what you'd call a value, but the prices were higher than I had expected. For 3 people we spent $220, that was with one appetizer, two salads, three meals, and two desserts. The Chef combines interesting yet very delicious flavors in his dishes. I like his philosophy of using local produce and organic food, hopefully this trend will soon catch on in OK. All in all, delicious food, great service, beautiful resturant, but very pricey. Pros: tasty, inventive food, great service, beautiful place more
