A good thinking place 3/6/2008

Unlike newer museums with all sorts of displays with bells, whistles, and flashing lights, The CMNH has a quieter atmosphere. I have noticed that my kids (ages 3, 5, and 7) actually take their time to read and think about what they are seeing instead of just running around to see whatever exhibit has the brightest lights or the loudest whistles. Keep up the great work, we love to visit! more

Great Museum 11/30/2005

This is a really nice museum whose fun starts at the entrance, with a gigantic stegasaurus to climb aboard and take a picture on. Inside, there are huge dinosaurs that stretch to the ceiling, all the bones in tact. It's impressive to see how big they were. They have fish fossils from the prehistoric days, which look nothing like the fish we have in modern times. They have stuffed saber toothed tigers, a huge whale, and other extinct animals preserved for viewing. A great museum that takes you on a journey into the past, and a gift shop with some really cool souvenirs. more

A wonderful museum! 11/24/2005

My family visited this museum and we all enjoyed it. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. They have a lot of different displays ranging from animals, yes real animals that have been stuffed, so prepare yourself, to fossils, including some very early humanoid and even a few dinosaurs. The really amazing part was seeing the display with a moon rock in it, yes something that really came from the moon! I'd definately give them a try! more

Classy and educational 11/16/2005

Walking into the Museum of Natural History and be taken back in time. You can see so many things there to enjoy and be educated along the way. Lucy is over 3.5 million years old (And you thought YOU were old!). They even have a 360 million year old fish. This 16-foot-long Dunkleosteus terrelli is even larger than some sharks and is a native Clevelander. This fish even had self-sharpening jaws! Find River Otters, Turkeys and Bobcats here as well as "Happy," the only mounted Haplocanthosaurus delfsi in the world. more

Great Opportunity 11/4/2005

I feel like it is so great to have the opportunity to see the bones of great creatures that lived so many years ago. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is such a fun place to visit. Something neat to do while you are there is stop and see a presentation. They are always really informative and last time I went they had real animals there, too, for the presentation. The animals that have been stuffed are also really neat because sometimes that is the only opportunity one would have to see a real one up close. more

Educational & Fun 9/2/2005

This is an educational and fun place your kids will love. It has a planetarium to learn about our solar system and have a real-life replica in the daytime, a dinosaur collection to see how mammoth the extinct creatures are, and artifiacts from previous times and cultures (a Native American canoe, for example). The fossils always impressed me when I was a kid. PROS: Great for young ones CONS: Small for teenagers more

You'll get lost enjoying all the history here 8/20/2005

Cleveland is blessed with many wonderful museums and this is one of the great ones. You can get lost in the history here and spend hours sucking it all in. Youlll find moon rocks, mastadons, mammoths, and outdoor Stegosaurus. They have a priceless collection of rare gems including diamonds, sapphires, rubies and more. They have all sorts of artifacts that happened millions of years ago. They even have burial mounds and more. It's worth the trip down to the museum. more

fantastic 7/28/2005

Out of all of the Museum's and historical places I've visited this is at the top of my list. Open seven days a week, decent hours and reasonable prices. There is so much to see and do, from the planetarium to the live animal program, tours, educational programs, lecture series and a visit to the gift shop are just a few of the things to do. They have permanent, outside and temporary exhibits........a great way to spend the day or afternoon. more
