Sweet, Surprising Experience 8/5/2008

When I went to City Nails it was a great experience! I was atttracted to the affordable rates initially but was slightly put off by the location. When I went inside, however, I was greeted by the well designed and nicely decorated salon room. The manager had opened the salon early to accomodate myself and another client. I was able to relax and read while listening to the news on a flat screen TV. A large party of pre-wedding women were being tended to as I departed and I could see that the personel were working hard from the get-go. My friends and I plan to go to City Nails this week because of the great experience I had while I was there. Pros: Customer service, interior atmosphere, price. Cons: Exterior location. more

Long time customer 6/9/2008

I have been going to City Nails since moving to Portland in 2000 and have also tried other places. The original owners Brian and Amy were extremely nice. The next owner was very rude and did not know the meaning of good customer service. The current owner, Kim, is very friendly and personable. Throughout the change in ownership, I still have one specific employee do my nails since I have never had any problems and he is fast yet accurate. I recently moved and tried another salon close to my new place but seeing the horrible job they did, vow to make the extra drive to the tried and true City Nails. Pros: ambience, service, speed Cons: parking more

I Went Away IPhysically njured from this Experience! The WORST Ever!!!! 5/13/2008

I stopped in this salon on a Sunday, as I had had to work on Saturday & my regualr salon of choice is not open on Sundays. From the moment I walked in I should have known. They display a sign ""Walk Ins Welcome"" but, believe me--I was not welcomed in any way The owner barely acknowledge me & actually seemed upset I had walked into her salon. I sat myself down until she summoned to a chair for a backfill. The nail table was not covered (most places have a towel on the table) & I was concerned when various tools were used that, obviously, had not been cleaned prior to using them on me. The nail table was dusted a couple of times with a brush with the ""shavings"" flying all over the immediate area. Cons: Dirty, unfriendly & damaging!!! more

Been going here for years... 3/19/2008

I have tried almost every nail salon in the Beaverton area, and finally found City Nails. The location and atmosphere leave a little something to be desired, but the staff is friendly and the prices are right. As far as the previous review saying they had ""poor quality of service,"" I've had manicures done here also, and don't have any negatives to say about it. All manicures have a tendency to chip, it's just something you should be aware of when we get a manicure! more

Poor quality 1/30/2007

I visited City Nails after researching the place at Portland.Citysearch and felt pretty confident about having a manicure after work before going to dinner on a Friday evening. I thought the experience was great during the service, my french manicure was done by a super nice lady. I was a little confused why they charged me $2 more than the price posted for a French Manicure, but decided to overlook it since the employees were so nice. However, by the next morning, a mere 12 hours later, the manicure was chipped in several places. By the end of the day on Saturday, the manicure looked like a train wreck. I can't believe I paid $20 (including tip) for a manicure that didn't last more than 24 hours. I don't do anything out of the ordinary with my hands that would account for such damage to the manicure, so I'm forced to say that the quality of my service was completely horrible. I will never return for another service if they can't produce a quality product. Pros: Evening appointments Cons: Extremely poor quality of work more

I love my nails!! 10/10/2005

I just got a set of acrylic nails. I was a walk in and they were able to get me in right away. My nails are absolutely gorgous! I haven't had acrylic nails before and I was a little worried because I've seen some that looked kind of talonlike look. These nails look natural, the polish is flawless. For an extra $3 she put decorative flowers on my index fingers that feel so elegant. They have a good selection of different designs. I've had fiberglass nails in the past and when I left the salon I always felt like I had to file my nails more because I'm neurotic and havet to have my nails perfectly rounded. These I wouldn't dream of changing. The atmosphere is what you expect from a standard nail salon, but the quality is impressive. I'm 100% pleased! Thank you Kim. Pros: Inexpensive, good quality, beautiful designs more

beware! 8/19/2005

I went for a pedicure here years ago...but since they are under new mangement and do not sanitize their pediucre tubs....I actually saw one of the employees just spray alcohol....like that does anything....Spend the extra money and go somewhere that is professional!! Pros: cheap Cons: dirty and unsanitary more
