Unique, Tasty Dishes and a Pleasant Atmosphere 7/30/2011

I've always enjoyed Citrus Grill. They have a range of different items, each equally delicious. I especially like the choice of sizes in many items (petite and hearty). This way I can get a lot of one thing, or share many different things with friends. Breakfast is especially good, as well as their wraps (southwest and asian) and sandwiches. Always been a solid restaurant with great food. more

Favorite stand by 5/30/2010

I love this place. I've eaten at Citris Grill about fifty times over the last few years. The food is generally tasty and the menu is creative. Their pizza dough is the best I've ever had, and the their salads are fantastic. They serve good beer and good appetizers, and you never have to pay a ton for a big meal. During the last few years I've had only one negative experience there and countless positive ones. If my wife and I want a risk-free night out, where we know the food will be worth the money, we go to Citris Grill. Pros: Great food, atmosphere, reasonable price Cons: It's hard to be so good so often more

Upscale food at reasonable price 8/9/2009

The food here is spectacular. It is great for a casual lunch or low-key dinner if you want flavor and presentation. The citris salad is so yummy and the pizzas are great too! However, the location on 33rd was sorely lacking in service. Our hostess acted bothered by her job; I would have appreciated a friendly acknowledgment and welcome to the establishment but she lethargically led us to our table and left before explaining the specials or telling us who the server was. Our server seemed annoyed with my questions about the specials and dishes and he wasn't prompt in our drinks, food or check. I truly love the food but I don't know if we'll be back because I didn't feel valued as a customer. Maybe you'll have better luck-- in any ways I say try it cause the menu is so great! Pros: Delicious food Cons: Service more

Absolutely the Best! 3/17/2009

This is always my favorite place to go. I love the grilled cheese of the day. Brie and Mango is the best! I like to get the petite citris salad and soup, portions are perfect. The greens are always really fresh- i do wish it was organic though. They do have great martini specials too but they should change up the desserts or run a special sometime. maybe cappuccino cake???\r \r Pros: Fresh food, great prices, good service Cons: noisy, boring dessert options more

This place cares about making good food...at reasonable prices. 1/14/2009

The Draper Citrus Grill is delicious. And it's very reasonably priced. \r \r The food isn't your average ham and swiss sandwich place. Here, they have a grilled cheese sandwich of the day, and it's usually something like ""Brie and Mango"" or ""Goat Cheese and Honey"". Their food is different and it tastes like it was thought up from a chef with talent.\r \r Their pizzas are yummy. One has BBQ sauce, chicken, corn, cilantro and cheese. It's very tasty. They have ""Sweet Potato and Corn Chowder"" and it's delicious. My favorite is their Tuna salad. \r \r And they offer an amazing breakfast on Sunday. ""Bananas Foster French Toast"" to name one thing. And it's as good as it sounds. The rest of the menu is original and excellent. Go try them. \r \r You will have a fresh, tasty meal for a great price. Pros: Food is fresh, original and extremely delicious. Cons: Breakfast is only served on Sundays...but that's good so we won't get spoiled. more

Heading Downhill Fast.... 12/22/2008

I used to be a huge fan of the Citris Grill on 33rd South. The food was great and the service was always friendly, if not perfectly polished. However, over the past year, everything has gone downhill. We've been seated by sullen teenagers who barely say hello, their HVAC is never set to a comfortable level, and they seem to run out of common mixers for cocktails. My biggest concern, and the reason we don't go to Citris anymore, is that the place is filthy. Walls are splattered, floors look dirty and the restroom is so dirty that I'm surprised health inspectors haven't cited them. It used to be such a great neighborhood restaurant. It needs the attention of a good manager to train employees and to ensure appropriate cleanliness and maintenance. Pros: The food is usually good. The daily specials are unique. Cons: Dirty walls, floors and restrooms. Sullen service. more

quality and price 11/24/2008

Sunday at the 123000 south location, party of three went for a lunch after a movie at century theater. Had two number 3 salads (meat with greens) mine had a fair amount of meat pieces while my wifes had three small pieces (meat was tasteless and tough we were not asked how we wanted the meat cook). Desert: Followed up with a carrot cake and bread pudding. Bread pudding was very large and of good flavor. The carrot cake was nothing to brag about it was smaller than a pack of smokes in foot print and was of poor flavor. Service was poor and had hoped for better at the time of day we were there. this is not the first time at this location before service was a problem and food preperation was questionable. \r \r Monday at the 3300 south location party of two went for Meatloaf sandwichs. We were first in the door at 1100 AM seated ourselves ordered the sandwiches, Was disappointed meatloaf was not as good and seemed microwaved when arrived at the table. Service was good and enjoyable help make up for the other items. While waiting for our order i looked around the seating area and notice that the floor appeared not to have been clean up from the day before, some food parts and straw wrapping were under some tables. OVERALL RATING OF THIS PLACE HAS GONE DOWN SINCE FIRST OPENING. APPEARANCE, SERVICE AND FOOD PREPERATION ALL HAVE DECRESSED. Was a good meal for your dollar but that has changed.\r Cons: service, food preperaton, more

if melissa farrell still works there ... 9/26/2008

""Service Stinks"" We voted with our feet and left! 7/29/2008

We stopped going because the service was so bad and frankly, rude. Gave it another try this past week. Unfortunately, not much has changed. It was slow; we walked in the ?hostess? was wiping down the menus, did not acknowledge or welcome us, said ?2? and then begrudgly seated us. We thanked her and she responded, as she walked away ?no problem? Air conditioning must have been out as it was hot. Sat there, no waiter, sat there, no waiter, got up, went to Porcupine and had a wonderful dinner on there deck. By the way, they actually power wash their deck. CG may want to think about cleaning their patio. WE R DONE going here. We will never go back and everyone we know will hear about this. The owner should try to role model a service environment! Go figure. Pros: Breakfast Cons: Unhappy people work there more

FINALLY!! Something Unique in Salt Lake!! 7/14/2008

WOW! How refreshing to see a chef/restaurant that is UNAFRAID to take chances. The food was unlike anything I've had in Salt Lake City. Flavors and ingredients that may or may not sound ""right"" together are mixed and matched seamlessly into something fantastic. I'm always complaining that there are not enough ""local"" non-chain restaurants in the valley, but Citris is a welcome diversion from the cookie-cutter places.\r The kid who greeted us had an attitude that was something far less than enthusiasm, but it didn't quite reach the level of rudeness, so I guess I won't hold that against Citris.\r Our server was perfect. The beers, waters and sodas were offered before the old ones ran out. The menu was varied and very reasonably priced. \r We started with the chicken Wings and they were among the best I've tasted in Utah, or anywhere else for that matter. Pros: Interesting, Unique menu. Cons: The greeter was not very cool. more

terrible catering service, but great food 6/20/2008

Flaky, the customer services was flaky. \r \r The contact person for catering does not seem that invested. Took a long time to get invoiced before the event. The food was late. The staff person was not prepared to transport food quickly. I had to take food from delivery vehicle to event myself and set it up. I had paid for delivery & set-up.\r \r The food was fantastic! So delicious despite the fact it had been transported across town. The prices were super reasonable. The variety of options to chose from is great.\r \r \r \r \r Pros: food Cons: customer service more

Good Food, Poor Service. 3/23/2008

Consistently inconsistent on the service. Food is good but hire a frontend manger that gets the service side of the experience. Wait too long for a table when they have them, don?t get water/coffee without repeated requests that the attitudes are lame. You would think they were not working for tips. Too bad, because the food is always good. We have been going there for 2 years but go less often because of the poor service. more

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. 3/19/2008

I was the third of four people there the day mentioned below (terrible service, great food, etc.) I agree with my two friends that the service was really awful and there was not a reason for us to have been treated as such. I can also say on behalf of the owners, that they rectified the situation. The manager there was terrible and demeaning, but when i made a formal complaint, the owners were apologetic and offered a gift card and for us to come visit their other location. we didnt introduce ourselves when we came in until after we ate and were treated with respect- and our coffee was filled in reasonable time. it was a very different scene and we would gladly go back... to the draper location, anyway. \r \r hope that info helps someone.\r c Pros: the food and the owners Cons: management at the canyon ridge locatio- hopefully will be dealt with soon. more

Are people losing their minds? 2/28/2008

I, too, was at the Citris Grill last Sunday and was sitting at the table next to the folks who were treated poorly. I thought their waitress was really rude to them, though mine was really nice and am very surprised to see that someone took the waiter?s side here. They were even talking about how much they liked the place when they came in and I sort of watched them become more and more upset as they were treated worse and worse. I almost said something, too, but stayed out of it since it wasn?t my waitress? but now I see I should have stepped up. They did get mad after a while, but I totally don?t blame them, I would have probably gotten pretty mad too if my waiter was like their waitress. I?m not even sure I believe a customer wrote that other review. Just my two cents. Also, there were 4 people, 2 girl and 2 guys there, not just girls, so maybe the other comment was about someone else...? Pros: i agree that the food is good Cons: though my service was fine, i saw other waitresses being pretty rude. more

Great Food Great service Great atmoshpere BAD NEIGHBORS 2/25/2008

i too ate at citrus on 33rd on sunday2/24/08.\r i too was offended not from the service but the vulgarity of the table next to me they were BAD NEIGHBORS!\r i was seated next to what possibly couldv've been the most vulgar obnoxious table. they obviously are angry at the world and nothing could please them. \r the restaurant was on a wait (busy) and my food and service was good.\r i too agree however with greenissexy please get your food to go if you can't act as a civilized human in public..\r oh and the boxer short look is sooo passe! so grow up and take command of the english language without the profanity, or stay home and order dominoes. yes you did ruin my dining experience at citrus on 33rd.\r i will be back to citrus on 33rd but i will walk out if i see those females there again ! Pros: reasonably priced fresh foods more

Great food, HORRIBLE Service 2/24/2008

I just had the WORST customer service I have ever had. So bad in fact, i decided to create a citysearch account, JUST to write about it. \r \r If it had been just our server, i could understand. Sometimes that happens. You have a bad day at work, and you take it out on customers. While that is not the ideal situation, it's still understandable. However, it seemed the ENTIRE staff was bad. We almost walked over to the kitchen to get our own coffee, because we asked several of the wait staff to bring us some, and it never came. The ""Manager"" is the person who actually brought our food out. As she SLAMMED our food on the table, I came to the realization that this, this was the worst customer service i have ever received. \r \r At one point we asked to speak to the manager, to complain about the service. She was just yet one more person who was COMPLETELY rude to us. She actually told us that the waiters were complaining at how we were treating them. (Like asking for coffee!?) We only started becoming slightly assertive after the staff was horrible to us.\r \r Their food is AMAZING, I highly recommend it, however ordering take out might be a good idea if you want to try it. Pros: Delicious food. Cons: Worst service in my life. more

great food, WORST SERVICE EVER 2/24/2008

I've eaten there a few times and while the food totally rocks, I am appalled by the service we recieved. Not only was the waitress, Barbara, rude beyond belief- when all I did was ask if I could create my own scramble instead of one right off the menu- to which she cocked her hip , practically rolled her eyes, and said ""I guess,"" but we also waited 25 minutes with empty coffee cups after asking 3 different servers for coffee. Even the manager was rude- she slammed our plates not quite in front of us on the table and walked off without asking if we needed anything else. When we complained at the end of the meal, one nice host told us he was sorry and that server had had complaints before, but the manager came over to us with attitude and told us she didnt like how we asked for our coffee (""could we get some coffee around here?!) when we explained that was because we had already asked 3 others with no response she said it was probably because WE WERE RUDE! Are you kidding me? We may have asked for coffee in a snotty way by the 3rd or 4th person, but we were certainly not rude to begin with and there is no way that merited how we were treated. I SUGGEST YOU GET YOUR FOOD TO GO FROM THE CITRIS GRILL. Pros: food really is quite good Cons: rudest staff/ worst service ever anywhere more

Food that I expected to be good, but was terrible 2/3/2008

I don't know what's wrong with the Citrus Grill - normally I can at least eat most of the less-than-great foods that I've been served in my life. But this was an exception. The food was just unedible. The spinach dip was the funniest to me. It was BRIGHT yellow and I would guess the recipe was mayonnaise and a dash of flavor. Oh, and of course bright yellow food coloring? BAD. I just can't go there again. Ever. Surprisingly disappointing. Pros: Nice location, nice name and sign Cons: Everything else. Especially food. more

Never Disappointed!!! 1/18/2008

My husband and I are frequent customers at the Citrus Grill on 3300 South. We have NEVER been disappointed. Our food has always been fantastic. I always order the Southwest Wrap (AMAZING!) and my husband is a little more adventurous and likes to try new things. He is always happy. The portions are a good size, an they offer hearty or petite so you can order the size you'd prefer. Seating was always propt (within 10 minutes on a Friday night) and our service has always been superior. Some nights they have live music as well. Their drink list is pretty creative. I personally like the Pomegranate Martini. Great place! Pros: Great food, great service, prompt seating, drink selection Cons: Parking more

Devastatingly Average...if you're lucky. 1/15/2008

My wife and I live very near to the Citris Grill on 33rd. We've probably dined there well over 15 times and every time I swear I'm never going back. A good example is their featured Grill Cheese Sandwich I had last time, which was smoked gouda and tomatoes... sounds good, doesn't it?\r Well, it basically amounted to a couple pieces of toast with a thin slice of UNMELTED cheese over cold tomatoes. Could have/should have done better myself at home.\r That's an average experience for us. \r Sunday Breakfast is somewhat less bleak, but not by much...\r It's too bad.. it seems like a nice place with a good menu, but the execution is horrid. Pros: convenient east bench location Cons: poorly prepared food that could be good if only..... more
