Don't expect anything fancy from this little place on Whittier Boulevard in the heart of East L.A. I've been to Pink's in Hollywood, and this place is the complete opposite. You won't find Kosher Dogs or any other kind of avant-garde hot dog on the menu. According to my father, the menu hasn't changed since he was a kid, and that is the charm of this place- well, besides the great hot dogs. The menu also includes burgers, chili cheese fries, and RC cola. However, the signature food is the hot dogs, which have the mandatory 'snap' when you bite them- this is what characterizes a good hot dog from a bad one. Due to its location on the Eastside, this place doesn't get the hype that Pink's or other fast food places on the Westside do. Still, it's hard not to appreciate the quality and the simplicity of this 'hole-in-the-wall' that is an Eastside landmark. As a matter of fact, I think I'll go get three hot dogs right now with extra ketchup.
