I am a cheap, but I was tired of getting butchered at the quickie joints. My wife bought me a gift certificate for this place. I now realize what I had been missing. The haircut was awesome, but just as importantly, the guys and girls at Chopperz made me feel right I was the only person that mattered. They went out of their way to fit me into their schedule and took great care of me. My wife loves the new cut. This is the best place in Portland to get a cut. Pros: Service Service Service more

Chopperz has all the ingredients to make an amazing business. As a marketing guy, I can tell when someone has put a lot of thought into how to make something unique and memorable. All the details are here. I was greeted promptly. Everyone was extremely nice and seemed to genuinely want to have a converstation with me and not just try to sell me something. The atmosphere is truly targeted toward men and not just any men, but as the guy at the bar said ""A modern day guy's guy"". Just walking in and waiting by the bar gives you have a feeling that you are going to be taken care of at this place. My haircut was great, but the atmosphere and service is what blew me away. Pampering on a scale you have not likely seen. Haircuts are great and service is of the utmost. Being able to have a beer is a nice touch. Television at every station so you can watch what you want. I highly recommend this ""non-salon"" to any guy who likes to be treated well. Pros: Great service more

As a veteran of old man barber shops, Supercuts of all names, and ladies salons, this easily ranks as my top place for a haircut. Well-lit, cool music at a respectable volume, clean design, and a beer selection worthy of any great locally-owned bar-n-grill, these amenities are a great bonus for the main reason to go - a great haircut. I walked in, so I had to wait a while. The guy behind the counter recommended I grab some lunch at the nearby Chipotle (!) and bring it back to eat while watching the game and downing a beer or two before my cut. Once it was my turn, I continued watching the game on a flat-screen at my station while the nice lady trimmed away. I honestly can't remember a better Sunday in recent years. And yes, the haircut was totally worth the price. I can't give this place the amount of praise it deserves. more

I'm not really a salon kind of guy. I really like getting in and getting out of a place as quick as I can, but I was tired of getting butchered by yet another Great Clips, so I wandered into this place. It was fantastic. My stylist listened to what I was looking for, but gave me a few tips for make it easier for me to get up a go without the fuss. They had a movie on for me to watch and made me an energy drink coffee. It was $25 bucks, but well worth it for not having to worry about getting butchered. Great job Chopperz! Chopperz is one of the most natural enviroments for a man to be in hell I go in there and I feel humble and at ease. A man's way created by a man for men. I mean you want a cold one? Have one hell have afew wanna try some sake? It's all there sit back watch game get a close shave for your lady or for your date not only do they shave but they pamper your skin and educate you on the products they use so you can take care of your skin and get that nice close slick shave that makes you feel like the big stinky cheese your are. Havent been there? No worries go in its the last place you will ever want to go! Guy to guy terms Cold beer, cute chicks pampering you, head and neck massage, arcade with all the gamers delight and the most epic cuts you will find. I mean the list goes on and on guys rather then reading this you should quit puszy footing around and go where you belong. Pros: Elite. I went here on a Saturday based on my girlfriend recommendation. It was great. I had to wait about 45 minutes, becuz I didn't have an appointment, but it was ok, because there were about 6 other guys just hanging out watching college football (go ducks!) and shooting the breeze. My haircut was AWESOME and the price was a respectable $25. They gave me great service and didn't pressure me into anything. It's about time westside guys (or Portland for that matter) were given good service and quality. Thanks, I will definately return. Pros: Wifi, beer, haircut quality Cons: none worth mentioning more

My wife found this place using Citysearch. I was really pleased with the service and haircut... but more than that, it is just a fun place for guys to go. A beer was given to me as I walked in, Family Guy put on TV, and I was pampered in a very comfortable and non-sissy way. ha ha... non-sissy. It's fun. Try it. I have been disappointed with places in Portland. Places are either too girlie (for lack of a better term) or Great Clips-ish. The girls at Chopperz (and the one guy that worked there) were awesome, not just to look at (the girls that is), but they treated me like I was a VIP, even though I went in there after work looking like a bum with no cash. Guys, if you had a hellish day like I had, remember ONE word- Hiatus. This is what they called there straight razor shave and hair cut. It was an EXPERIENCE. Only complaint is that I had to wait around 10 minutes since I didn't have an appointment. Live and learn, I booked for another appointment 3 weeks out. You made a believer out of me. Chopperz is more glitz than service oriented. My husband, who contrary to popular belief, does enjoy being ""man pampered"", had much better results and a far more relaxing experience at Portland's real first men's salon. There is nothing immasculating about taking care of yourself-and your cuticles! If you want a full service experience, I suggest that you look downtown. more
