Best

Chinook's is an Anthony's Restaurant that is kid and adult friendly with great seafood and wine list. Our server was very accommodating...

Worst

Chinooks was at best, average. There are so many other seafood restaurants in Seattle that have much more to offer. The wait was horrendous (no reservations nowadays makes no sens...

They can't be this bad...can they? 12/10/2005

Service was quick and with a smile. The wines by the glass were OK and affordable. I ordered the Sockeye cooked on Alderwood plank. It was so overcooked it was tough to eat...I actually had to use a knife a couple of times. The plank was likely more tender. I eat a lot of Salmon. This was like (slightly) re-hydrated jerky. I'm not kidding. I am also suspicious that it was Sockeye. All the Sockeye I've had has been deep reddish with thin graining. This was peachy pink with thick graining. Not only was it overdone, but thin as a shoe sole...and cost 22 + tax. The broccoli was boiled a bit too long, but edible. The potato onion glop is just greasy and nasty. It can't be this bad all the time?!?! I will try it again to make sure. Why didn't I send it back? I'm a wuss. Pros: Service with a smile Cons: Bad food more

Our Favorite Place to Eat 11/24/2005

We live in Portland and visit several times a year. Even if we are passing through from Canada we will swing West just to eat at Chinooks. We've never been disappointed in anything we've gotten. Their planked salmon beats everyone else in the city. And their Key Lime pie is to die for, made fresh on the premise with very lightly sweetened fresh whipped cream. The atmosphere and the view is like eating at a sailors diner. Just love it. Pros: Fresh Seafood, Iced Tea, View Cons: The wait more

Two words... 11/7/2005

Bread pudding!!! But, if you are there for more than dessert there are many delicious options. I've been going to Chinooks for over 15 years and I love to show my friends what a great place it is. The seafood is great and the breakfast is wonderful as well...fresh baked scones for all. They rival the delicious foccacia that is served in the evenings. Pros: Bread pudding, relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable staff more

never disappointed 9/29/2005

I've eaten at Chinook's over a dozen times and have never been disappointed. I take a lot of out of town guests here because it is a great Seattle establishment, and a little too far from the tourist district to be overpriced. I recommend eating al fresco if the weather is warm. The inside can get pretty loud, so not a great romantic spot. Go look at the boats if there is a wait. Pros: value, parking, historic location Cons: noisy more

Very rude and nasty staff 9/13/2005

While being seated the hostest was unbelievably nasty and very rude. She was insulting and treated us so badly that we walked out of the resturant. We will never go back and will tell all of our friends and family how unbelievably bad we were treated. Pros: Parking free Cons: Rude Staff, Terrible treatment, Bad, Bad, Bad more

Freshest, Best Prepared Fish in Town! 4/2/2005

Don't fill up on bread! The salads are fresh and varied in offerings. Great oysters. The planked halibut or salmon are wonderful with a slightly smokey flavor. They always have a fresh side vegetable and some newly renovated potatoes. I never miss the seasonal, local fruit desserts in the summer. Sure it's loud at times but that's kind of the theme, cannery-style. If you're on a date snuggle up to your sweetie if it's loud. Sometimes there can be a wait for a table but you can always sit in the bar or at the oyster bar without fail. Being part of the Anthony's family, they've always stood behind their service and they're food if something goes wrong. We've eaten here a lot and if anything was out of place they've bent over backwards to make it right if possible or to make us happy. Pros: large menu, friendly staff, great chowder Cons: no reservations more

Keep it simple 10/9/2004

The bread was awesome! It was hard not to fill up on it before dinner. We ordered two different fish dished ...stick with the grilled it was better. The restaurant was a little loud even at 9 p.m., but we had a nice window seat so we could look out at the boats. Pros: location, good value, bread Cons: , no reservations more

Good place to eat 1/26/2004

First off, the foccocia bread that is part of every meal is the best. I highly recommend the seafood omelet. The service is always good and personally I enjoy the bustling atmosphere. I say give them a try. Pros: food, service Cons: no reservations more

Just Feels Good 4/17/2003

Visited Chinooks twice in two weeks and was not disappointed. Consistency, what a concept. Order off the menu and ask for the cajun prawns as an entree. Definitely finger lickin good! Ate at the bar and people watched, love the Seattle style. The servers were great fun. Yes, it's noisy, yes, there is lots of energy, yes, there is a wait... So what is so important you need to get in and out? You have fast food for that. Pros: moderate price, easy parking, consistently good Cons: small waiting area more

Seattle has more to offer! 3/12/2003

Chinooks was at best, average. There are so many other seafood restaurants in Seattle that have much more to offer. The wait was horrendous (no reservations nowadays makes no sense--by the time we were seated, they had run out of oysters! a double whammy!!), the food was so so (no one in my party liked the blue plate special- mushy lingcod with a weird creamy/cheesey sauce) our food arrived much later than people who were seated later (understandably we were a party of 6- but then food was brought out at different times: half had to wait 10 minutes longer), and our server was quite rude! (She specifically said, without eye contact as we asked for a refill on our soda- "Umm I dont know what you are saying..i just dont understand you"...a simple "Excuse me? would have been sufficient). Pros: good bread, kid friendly-crayons! Cons: service, wait, average food more

Mostly okay, but not worth it. 1/24/2003

Chinooks has many fairly good qualities. The food is usually good, but not a real stand out. The restaurant is noisy to the point of being unpleasant. It's usually crowded and the service is lousy. They couldn't cook a vegitable side dish to save their lives (Their norm is this potato and onion spluck. Totally overcooked.) The best thing they do is the foccocia bread. Although the last several time I went it was dried out. They used to be real good. They need to do alot better. Pros: good bread Cons: Loud, Crowded, Bad service more

Great catch 12/18/2002

Excellent all around restaurant. Sunday brunch is particularly good. No secret that this place is fabulous, so expect to wait a little. Ambience cannot be beat with a waterfront view virtually guaranteed. Seafood is fresh and you can almost see the fish being brought straight from the boats into the restaurant. more

Chinooks is Great! 10/18/2002

I love Chinooks--was there last night, food great, kid friendly, not as much a wait as usual (that's my one recommendation for them--please take reservations). more

Fab Seattle Spot!! 10/16/2002

I LOVED Chinook's. I can't imagine what's not to like! I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes, and more fish than you could count. To love fish, is to love Chinook's! Would recommend to everyone. One of Seattle's best eateries. My dad took me there when I was visiting and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was well worth it. It's on the top of my restaurant list. Wish we had one in Minneapolis. Pros: food presentation, Atmosphere, Delicious Cons: the wait more

great food 10/14/2002

Food is great, salmon dishes are wonderful. Window seat offered a great view of the boats. I eat there whenever business travel takes me to Seattle. Pros: great views, great food, good value more

Chinook's - A Has Been 10/12/2002

I made my first trip to Chinook's in about 2 years and I was EXTREAMLY disappointed...and it started right off the bat. First, I call to make reserveations for a party of 9. They tell me they don't take reservations for less than 15! So then, arriving without reservations, the first 5 of us show up. When we tell them that we have 4 more coming, they tell us that they can't seat us until the entire party has arrived! GIVE ME A BREAK! This is the same policy that is excersised at places like Denny's and Applebee's. And the food was not much better. I had the Lingcod & Chips. It was a vary small improvment over Skipper's and Ivar's. I don't recommend Chinook's to anyone. You can get the same experience at Ivar's for 1/4 the cost. Cons: Seating policy, Food preparation, Atmosphere more

Great Cobbler! 7/16/2002

If you've got room left for dessert, you won't go wrong ordering the blackberry cobbler. more
