Children's Boutique

Rude owner is right! Wow, that's one way to alienate your customers, Linda. Some of the sales staff were really nice, which is sad because the owner, Linda, is super rude, her tone being insulting, and if you let your child have their own opinion about a purchase, look out. She clearly chose the wrong vocation. Its to bad because the location is great and the potential of the store is fantastic. We won't be back. more

Do not shop here! They are rude, pushy and totally out of touch. I bought a $65.00 sweater and used a $69.00 credit that I had to pay for it (a credit because they refused to refund my money after the owner ordered clothes for my son in the wrong size and the wrong style!) When I asked to receive the remaining $4 in cash back, she refused to do so and gave me an very unpleasant attitude. Instead, she insisted that I had to have a store credit because they have policies that just can't be changed. She then suggested that I buy a book with it. Are you kidding me? The old addage that the customer is always right does not apply at the Children's Boutique. Heaven forbid they do right by their customers. One thing is certain, that was my last time there and my recommendation is that your money is better spent elsewhere. more

My first negative review ever, but this place really deserves it! They will be saccharine sweet when trying to sell you an overpriced or unneeded item, but they had atrocious (not exaggerating here) customer service when I tried to make a return. The owner was very condescending and rude, but did make the return after shaming me. Although the saleswoman assured me I could get a refund if needed, I was informed that because I paid cash instead of credit, I would be issued a store credit - which was really just the receipt. I somehow managed to hold on to the flimsy piece of paper, returned to buy my son new shoes, and was told it was null and void because store credits are only good for 6 months (and it had been 9). No apologies or exceptions, just lost money. In fact, the staff was downright bitchy. Learn from me and avoid this place - find a better place to shop local! more

Never in my life have I ever met a more evil woman as the owner.Her name is Linda.She seems to rule over her staff like the wicked witch ....it's too bad because they do sell nice things although very very very over priced!Her daughter in law is just like her,and her effeminate son is just as bad.I will never place a foot in there again..try ""born yesterday"" 3 blocks away you will love it and the people are very nice be for warned... more

I was in there recently to buy a toy for my nephew and beside being ""jumped on"" the second I walked in by rude and pushy staff members I found certain items with stickers from the store Five Below on the toys! The sticker was for 2 dollars from five below and they were charging 6! It could have been written off as a mistake if it was only one, but it was multiple items! WATCH OUT WHEN SHOPPING THERE! They are thieves! more

Seriously.... have you ever noticed that there is rarely more then 2 of 3 people in this store at the same time? The reason they 'hover' and 'follow you around' is because NO ONE SHOPS THERE ANYMORE!!! They are by far the ruddest store in Phila. And it's a shame, because they have a few great things going for them. 1) They have a great shoe department 2) they just started a story time, which the kids love... (Im sure they thought it would help bring in business)... but no one sticks around afterward... they run for the door! 3) Custom made items... if you are looking at getting a very expensive, frivolous gift for someone and overpay for it - THIS is the place! But the owner is horrible, the service is poor and the people are rude. There is a cute story a few blocks down that has similar things - and they are by far MUCH nicer. You will NOT have a good shopping experience at the Childrens Boutique. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt - and been in there several times over the last few years... but the experience is always disappointing. One of the mothers in our group made a good point - if the owner would retire, and they replaced the staff with experienced sales people (polite, helpful, able to 'read' the shopper) - Im sure more people would choose to shop there. ALSO - they have a credit policy that your credit slip expires after 6 months!!! I had a credit slip from august.... 2 days past 6 months - and they wouldnt except it... for a $200 christening gown that we were trying to purchase for my goddaughter!! more

horrible place to shop, employees dont stop following you around. Even if I am working with a nice employee that greets me, an annoying girl comes up cuts the girl helping me off and tries to sell me stuff that i already said I dont want. This girl was probably the most annoying person I have ever met. She kept forcing stuff I did not want down my throat, and then her boss came and was even worse but less annoying, more rude. I have never had a more annoying shopping experience. the girls in the front were nice, the girl that cut them off and kept yelling ""CUTENESS"" was horrible, if you go there and u see a really skinny girl with her mouth dropped open the whole time you will know who I mean. I've gone to the Children's Boutique several times, each time hoping it will be a better experience. It has not been. I've always come in with an aim to buy something ... but the salespeople have never respected my wish to ""just browse"". When I've explained that I am browsing and I will get them if I need assistance they hover over me making it quite uncomfortable to look around the store. After a minute or two they've intervened and tried to show me everything in the store. Each time I've left empty handed because it has been an uncomfortable experience. I've learned my lesson and have stopped going to the store. Pros: Cute items Cons: Rude/pushy salespeople more

I have been shopping at the Children's Boutiques for over 4 years and have never had a negative experience. I feel sorry for the 3 poor reviews that have been written, since I personally know many people who love the store, especially the ""red head"" in the shoe department. My daughter races to the back of the store to get her feet measured and pick out new shoes from the nice ""red head."" Everyone who I have met at the children's boutique has always treated me with respect. Maybe you should try shopping there again with a better attitude. A friend and I were first time shoppers at The Children's Boutique. Upon entering, we were bulldozed by an over zealous salesperson who was determined to show us everything in the store and proceeded to hover over and follow us to the point of distraction, even after we told her that we wanted to browse. When we made our decision to purchase and brought the item to the checkout counter, there were three women working behind the counter all with an attitude. We were made to feel by the woman who handled our transaction that we did not spend enough money when she showed her annoyance with the comment ""Are we gift wrapping this, putting it in a bag OR WHAT?"" We will NEVER shop in this store again. more

This place has offended me on so many levels and occasions. First of all, the red headed woman in the shoes dept. tried to sell me a pair of shoes for my son that were WIDES. I noticed it since my son has very narrow feet and she acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. She said they fit him and acted really haughty about it even though he was swimming in them. THEN she sold me a pair of shoes for my daughter that was in the wrong box and when I questioned her on the size she said they ran really big. When I looked in the shoe, they were the right size. WHY WOULD SHE LIE LIKE THAT? It was truly strange. Pros: convenient if you live in center city Cons: too many to name more

Worst shopping experience in recent memory. I bought a pair of sandals for my daughter and then returned them when a strap broke the next day. They took the shoes back and promised to send me a new pair, which never happened. Then they promised to refund me, which also never happened. I dealt with two females there who were consistently rude, even offensive, and consistently untruthful. 2 months later I am still trying to get refunded. I highly recommend staying away, even though it is difficult to find a place to buy childrens' shoes. more
