Catty corner to the Charles HOtel, Charlie's Kitchen is a sports bar for bawwdy locals and a nenu for hunger yokels. The food is good, cheap and filling. The barbecued chicken is the cokc of the walk. London Broil of the steak tips will neverf disappoint. If the five downstaris screens are not enogh, you can storll upstaris and take in the fifteen or so sports braodcasts likley to be on the ari at any time of day or night. You can't place a bet here but that' sprobably the only difference in thea ir between this sports-crazed watering hole. Charlie's is one of the longest lasting shows in Harvard Sqauare and very little there has changed. And that's fine. more

Great Burgers, Great Beers, Great Dive 3/19/2006

Charlie's Kitchen is where you end up on a Friday night after your late movie gets out and you're not ready to go home but you kind of want a beer somewhere laid back. No pretensions here, just cool vinyl diner booths and a $2.75 cheeseburger place. Who cares if the fries came out of the freezer, the burgers taste good and there are of the zillion beers on tap. The jukebox upstairs is a mix of kitch and classic rock, so you can load up on AC/DC and John Cougar Mellencamp. Good times. You won't come out reeking of smoke anymore, just kitchen grease. more

Completely underrated... 2/12/2006

If you want a great burger with great service and an unstuffy atmosphere. This is the place to go. Don't get me wrong, you can get more than a burger here. But the burgers are what draws peopl ein. They are fabulous. And they have a special place in my heart, since I was on Atkins and I got some GREAT low carb food and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. This is a local fave (for thos ei n the know), so do yourself a favor and get their early (around 9) on the weekends. Unless you like standing, of course. more
