I love this place. I've only been there twice but I've already found my favorite dish and drink; Jerk pork platter with a mojito. Soooo good. The prices are a little high, but I'd...

I don't know why people like this place. The food was average to mediocre. The waitress was rude and unattentive. This is a trendy place for people who want to look good, but don...

Ya Ya Ya! 9/4/2002

Went here for a friend's birthday, and what a pleasant suprise! They serve Caribbean and Spanish cuisine, and it's damn good (had the jerk pork platter, and it was great). It's a small and intimate place, great for a date (although neighborhood is a little dicey). They have valet, or you can park along the street, and it's easy to find (right on the corner of Virgil and Melrose). Entrees run mostly $12-$18, and the portions are generous. I'll definitely be back! Pros: FOOD!, atmosphere Cons: neighborhood, beer & wine only more

mmm...good 9/3/2002

One of the hidden gems of the Los Angeles dining scene. Tucked away in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles, Cha Cha Cha serves up delicious Spanish/Carribean fare. We sampled a wide range of the food and drinks. We found the sangria to be a bit watery but tasty. Everything we ate was delicious. A great date place. Pros: Ambience, Food Cons: Sketchy Neighborhood more

Serve up the sangria 8/27/2002

Make sure you get a seat on the enclosed patio--with the funky, colorful decorations, ceiling fans and candles, you'll think you were anywhere but the middle of L.A. The sangria is great, but the drink menu is limited to beer and a few house specialty drinks. But after you down a couple of glasses of sangria, you won't care. The food is fine, but the ambience and sangria are the standouts. more

Fi-fi-fine 8/22/2002

This place offers a somewhat extensive menu of mexi-cari (bbean) staples, all decently presented and certainly serviceable. The Mambo Gumbo was a bit watery, not so much gumbo as a passable soup-and-rice dish. The enclosed patio is fairly intimate and airy. more

Jerk Chicken and Brunch! 8/21/2002

Their Jerk Chicken dish is so good. You don't feel the spice @ first but oh the sweet and hot spices start to kick in. Nothing uncomfortable, just enough spice to keep you going back. My favorite dish is the Jerk Chicken Pizza. Now I know it's almost the same, but they add red onion and mozzarella cheese to it. The dairy in the cheese with the Jerk spices and red onion is an unbelievable combination. Also they have an awesome brunch! For brunch I recommend the spinach omelet with jerk chicken. The portions are huge and worth the money. I love the atmosphere is colorful and eclectic. I love the patio. It's a bit pricey anywhere from $10-19 for a lunch entree. But it is worth it. Waitstaff is friendly, and quick. Pros: Good for Large Goups, Jerk Chicken Pizza, Service Cons: Limited Parking more

Quaint place for large groups 8/16/2002

My first visit was with a group of 20. And with only a week's notice, I was able to reserve a table on the enclosed patio. Everything was set when we arrived and service was attentive. Be forewarned, booze is limited to beer and wine. Pitchers of sangrias are recommended. For dinner, if the special -- jumbo shrimp grilled in/with Jamacian beer -- is offered, do try it. more

Great sangria and a fun atmosphere 8/16/2002

Sit out on the patio on a nice night and enjoy a glass (or 6) of sangria. The food is nothing exceptional, but presented well. I had the shrimp cerveza -- a modest-sized portion of pretty ordinary shrimp, with rice, beans, salad and fried plantains. Service is quite attentive and friendly. Everybody seems to be having a fine time. more

A must! 8/7/2002

I had the Appetizer Platter, the Jerk Chicken and shared a pitcher of Sangria. I can't think of a better combination of food in an atmosphere that's fun and friendly. The secret sauce on the Jerk Chicken is a bit addictive... the minute I left the restaurant completely stuffed, i wanted to have more. I'm going back for the jerk chicken omelette this weekend. The tamales were also very good. more

Fun, lively, relaxed 7/30/2002

We went for a birthday party with 23 guests, and the staff was very, very helpful and patient with such a large group. The layout of this smaller restaurant has an open feel to it, but the very dim lights make it hard to see anything... probably better for a romantic yet relaxed dinner. The food was very good - definitely get the tamale appetizer, paella (any of them), and jerk chicken. Pros: Great service, Relaxed, not stuffy, Yummy Cons: Slow valet, Limited parking, Too dim? more

Good Service, Funky Ambience, OK Food 6/27/2002

The service was great. The interior was funky enough to be good. However, the food was not as good as others claim to be(tried jerk chiken, salmon, and waiter recommended appetizer). It would be OK meal for around $10. Definitely not worth $20 per meal. more
