My family (2 adults, 2 small children) became clients of Dr. King at Castle Dental on 8501 S Sam Houston Parkway. We all really liked her manner - she did a great job.\r
\r
However, she was the ONLY decent part of the office (and now she's no longer there). In the last 7 months, we have scheduled a combined: 4 initial visits, 6 cleanings, a cavity filled, and a root canal and crown. Our wait time has never been less than one hour, even when I scheduled the first appointment of the day (I tried early morning, lunchtime, early afternoon, and late afternoon appointments). My husband once waited THREE HOURS after his scheduled appointment to be called.\r
\r
Scheduling was a nightmare. 5 of our appointments were rescheduled at the last minute because Dr. King had been moved temporarily to another office. In several cases, the staff told me that they knew weeks in advance that she would not be in the office, but their practice was not to notify people to reschedule until 1 or, at most, 2 days before the appointment. This is very difficult for those of us who had to reschedule work or take vacation to meet the original appointment.\r
\r
I tried to schedule the cavity filling for my 7-year-old, and was told that Dr. King was the only dentist who would work on a child of her age. Due to corporate reshuffling, Dr. King was only available from 9-12 am on three days a week at this location, a time when a child is in school. I spoke to the manager and my daughter was eventually allowed to see another dentist who had appointments available after school.\r
\r
I called last week to confirm my children's dual appointments for February 13 and was told that they were at 3:30 and 4, just as I remembered. Today, the office called to confirm and I was told something different. Now, my 8-year-old was expected to be there at 3 to see the dentist and at 3:30 for a cleaning, and the youngest would have an exam at 4 and a cleaning at 4:20. This is absolutely contrary to what I was previously told and to what I scheduled - a 3 pm appointment conflicts with school and I would not have made that.\r
\r
I was also told that, by the way, my children would be seeing a new dentist because Dr. King was transferred some time ago.\r
\r
In our 13 appointments, I would have expected difficulties maybe once or twice. We've had either long delays or rescheduled appointments Every.Single.Time.\r
\r
We will no longer be patients of any Castle Dental.
