Editorial review from Citysearch 8/10/2012

Dr. Bailey now works at Leesville Rd. Animal Hospital. Thankfully, I was able to track him down to his new office as my dog recently needed surgery and I would have been a wreck w/ nerves if someone else had to perform the operation. My 2 dogs and cat have been under his care for more than 5 years. Dr. Bailey is hands down THE BEST vet I've ever had. He really knows my animals - their likes, mannerisms, - he treats them as if they were his own pets - he is kind and gentle. He also takes time to get to know the humans in my family. Most importantly he is extremely knowledgeable. He increased the life span of my aging cat, he correctly diagnosed a potentially fatal illness in one of my dogs and literally brought him back to life and vibrancy, and he has performed flawless surgeries on my black lab. I am so thankful to have Dr. Bailey as our vet - I would highly recommend him to others. more

Wonderful Vet 5/11/2012

We had to put our 20 year old cat to sleep and they were wonderful. I could not stay and they were extremely compassionate and kind. They sent a lovely card. We kennel our dog when we travel, and they take care of our other cat-- who is not an easy personality! I cannot imagine going anywhere else. more

Wish we had seen some of this compassion!!! 4/23/2011

My daughter just had to have her cat euthanized due to kidney failure and a mass in her stomach. She was 21 years old and had been taken to this practice for about 20 of those years. All was well until the end came and we experienced the least amount of compassion that I have ever experienced. Not one person in the entire practice ever said I'm sorry for your loss, sent a card, nothing......Very disappointing. more

No compassion 4/23/2011

My daughter took her cat to this hospital for twenty years. Paid them thousands of dollars. No real problems until it became necessary to euthanize her due to kidney failure and a large mass in her abdomen. I have never experienced the lack of compassion shown by all of the employees in this office. No, I'm sorry for your loss, no card, nothing........Even when she was picked up after cremation. Just another day in the office for them. No feelings at all. Shameful!!!! more

Most Compassionate 1/31/2011

The staff of Cary Vet, especially Sheila, Becky and Dr. Bailey was compassionate with both of my cats. Five years ago I lost a Persian/Maine Coon cat to congestive heart failure - although he was 13 years old it was still difficult. Dr. Bailey was loving and compassionate towards the situation and felt as bad giving the news as I had receiving it. He worked with my Maine Coon (which died due to renal failure and lymphoma) for 2-1/2 years with some serious health issues. He was always available when there was an emergency and he took the time to explain all the details, including go over the lab results piece by piece. We worked together trying to put a plan together for his diet, medication, etc. There was only one other vet that I trusted like this and he is in CT. It was even more difficult for Dr. Bailey to call me with Zack's lab results in November 2010 -- he actually sounded like he was choking on the words that he had to deliver. I knew there was something seriously (deadly) wrong with Zack and it was just a confirmation he delivered to me. Zack went to sleep with the angels November 2, 2010. His staff was kind and beyond helpful during the loss. Although I still miss Zack and was so upset that he was only 5 years old with these kind of life-threatening illnesses I cannot hold Dr. Bailey or any of his staff responsible for our loss. They are not only compassionate their office is sparkling clean and they take all precautions with all of their gravely ill animals. Thank you, thank you for the relationship I had with them for over 8 years! Hopefully, someday soon, my heart will be ready for another little furball in my life. Right now -- just wonderful memories of Zack and the people that touched our lives in so many ways. more

I will never go anywhere else. 12/22/2009

I have seen Dr. McCann for over 20 years and have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Bailey in the past 5-10 years. They are both unbelievably kind and compassionate people. They have helped my dogs through life threatening illnesses, surgeries and helped me through the loss of my dog to cancer. Even when we knew there was nothing that would cure my dog Dr. Bailey would call me if I needed anything or had questions about my dog. It meant a lot to me. When the topic of vets and pets comes up I always tell people how wonderful everyone at Cary Vet Hospital is to me and my dogs. Thank you to Dr. Bailey, Dr. McCann and all of the staff Pros: They treat my dogs as their own. Cons: They can't see me as a patient. more

CARY VETERINARY HOSPITAL IS A GREAT PLACE 8/15/2009

We have taken our pets to CVH for over 22 years. CVH provides kind, compassionate and outstanding medical care at a very affordable price. Clean, peaceful waiting rooms and very short wait times. Pros: COMPETENT, CARING MEDICAL CARE more

Exceptional Animal Care! 7/26/2009

I having moved from Winston-Salem (where I was never able to find a vet clinic that I liked as much as my original clinic when I lived in Graham), had decided to make the commute from Raleigh to Graham for any and all medical treatments needed for my Pug, Oliver. However, due to an accute skin reaction that got pretty aggresive overnight, I was forced to find a vet that could see him ASAP, as when it comes to my dog (who is like my son-nothing is spared, even if it seems minor like a skin issues). This practice was able to work me in right away and we were seen by Dr, Bailey. He had the best bedside manner and offered me several options for Oliver's treatment, as I could tell that he tried to do whatever he could to help those who may be financially strapped, to still be able to get necessary care for thier pets. Luckily, I am not in that situation, but durring my years as a graduate student I remember what that was like and how easily some places will take advantage by scarring people into buying and paying for some extra treatment that may not be essential.\r \r I went ahead and took every precaution and within two days my Pug Oliver's skin sore was almost completley healed. The change was dramatic, and having been through this once before and having results that were not near as good as the results I saw after treatment from Dr. Bailey, I was sold, and now my Oliver will be a patient of this clinic for as long as we are in this area!! Pros: Dr. Bailey is wonderful! Cons: I cannot give anything negative about this fine practice! more

Lifetime of Loyalty 7/12/2009

Dr. McCann is the best kept secret in North Carolina. He has been in practice for over 20 years and has taken are of all of my pets (1 Lab, 1 chihauhua, 1 bird, 1 cat) He is honest, loyal, treats his clients and their animals with the utmost respect. The staff is wonderful and loving. The facility is sparkling clean and the prices are affordable. Dr. McCann goes to great lengths to give his clients and their pets the best care possible. He is always available and always glad to see you. I have recently moved and wish I could take CVH with me. He will always be MY Vet and place I can call home for me and my animals. Thank you Dr. McCann and CVH!!! Pros: clean, affordable, loyal Cons: NONE! more

Wonderful Dr. McCann! 2/20/2009

Dr. McCann has taken care of my animals for 27 years. He has spayed, neutered, operated on, cleaned the teeth of, given shots to, bathed, and loved all of my animals. He is the most caring, kind veterinarian in NC. He also happens to be one of the most experienced surgeons in the practice. He has spent his life building this family practice. I should know, he is my father. Pros: Clean facilities, caring staff, and excellent clients! Cons: There are none. Whoever said they had a bad experience is crazy and has the wrong vet. No way a puppy costs $2K in vet bills. I should know, I have a french bulldog. more

Great Clinic! 11/4/2008

I can't say enough great things about the staff and doctors at Cary Veterinary Hospital. Dr. McCann took wonderful care of our 18 year old Lhasa for the last 15 years of her life. When we decided earlier this year (2008) to find another dog he spent time talking with us to help us decide which breed would be best for us. We went with one of his recommendations (a great little French Bulldog named Bandit) and can't begin to thank him enough for pointing us in that direction. Staff members are all great as well and go the extra mile to make you and your pet feel welcome. Pros: Excellent Doctors and Staff, Clean Facility more

Best Kept Secret in Wake County ! 10/7/2008

I love this practice ! I have been going there for over 10 years with my four cats and and Golden Retriever dog. After seeing three other veterinarians who were unable to diagnose my dogs cancer, Dr McCann was able to calm a very worried and stressed ""Mom"" who was losing faith in finding out what was wrong with her dog. He knew what to look for as he took the time to listen to my concerns. With a few reasonable tests he was able to give me a diagnosis and offer surgery and treatment that was reasonable and thankfully effective. The office staff is very friendly and does everything they can to work with my time and schedule when we need to see them. Their fees compared to other Veterinarians I have used in the past are much more reasonable. I don't feel pressured to do every test in the book for them to know how to treat my pets. \r What I like most about Dr McCann and his practice is his professional concern and kindness not only to his patients but to the owners of his patients. It is worth the trip as I now drive past four veterinary hospitals to go to Cary Veterinary Hospital. Pros: Kind, Considerate, Good Value Cons: Have found none more

Good care for your animals 7/22/2008

We take our dogs Bella (Bernese Mountain Dog) and Skye (Border Collie) to Cary Vet Hospital and have been very satisfied. It's extremely clean and our dogs are always happy to see the techs! Last year, we lost our 15 year schnauzer to cancer and Dr. Bailey was fantastic throughout that difficult process. Dr. Bailey did a great job on Skye's spaying. We've been very satisfied and board our dogs here whenever we have to leave town. Pros: Caring staff, convenient location, very clean more

Caring staff 3/2/2008

What prompted me to write my comment is the disbelief upon reading the comments of the person who was so dissatisfied. Whatever the problem that person encountered, it is unfortunate.\r \r Over ten years ago, my husband fed a skinny, hungry cat that turned out to be pregnant. I had never before had pets and had no interest; however, when the litter of four was born, I became so attached to them, we kept them all and have taken them for their annual checkup and whatever other problems they may have had and our experience has been fantastic in every way. All five were spayed at once without any problems. One of them has hip problems which has been operated on and in every way we are satisfied. more

Great experiences 1/26/2008

I have been taking my two huskies there since moving to the area four years ago. Dr. Bailey is so good with both my dogs...and my boy can be quite a handful. My dogs are my world (my children) and I spoil them. I would not accept anything less than the best for them and I have had nothing less than postive experiences everytime we go.\r Highly recommended! Pros: great staff, fabulous care more

Horrible Experience 1/14/2008

I see that this facility has gotten excellent ratings in the past, but I simply have a hard time believing that ANYONE could have had a positive experience here. My troubles started with the first appointment where I was overcharged, and ended after a battle with the same untreated and misdiagnosed infection, staff and doctors who NEVER bothered to remember mine or my dog's name, information and documentation that was NEVER given to me, a botched spaying which left my dog with a jagged and infected scar, and to top it all off, a vet who blamed all of the problems I was having with this facility on me! Is he crazy?! I left with unanswered questions constantly! And then I was blamed for not asking the right questions. Maybe this place is good for older pets, and experienced pet owners, but I DO NOT recommend it for a first time owner. After spending nearly $2,000 on initial puppy appointments here, I will MORE than gladly be taking my sweet dog somewhere she will actually be cared for!! Cons: Too many to list. more

Great vets, great staff! 5/16/2007

I love this practice!\r \r We have five (yes, 5) pets - 2 dogs and 3 cats. Unfortunately, 2 of our pets are problem children. One cat had problems with a UTI and a pulled muscle in her back. They treated her aggressively so she was not in pain. \r \r One of our dogs had petellar luxation. I must admit I'm a sap about my animals. We talked about our options, what they would mean for her long-term and when I thought of some of the options, I started to cry. We had opted for surgery (through my crying mess). Even with that, a week after the initial diagnosis appointment, Dr. Bailey called me just to see if I was okay. He also spent tons of time talking about the options, his experience with doing the operation, he gladly gave me references and took the time to listen and respond when needed. Dr. Bailey operated on her and did a wonderful job - she was even putting pressure on it the day after surgery. I appreciated not only the way they handled my dog during the surgery but their kind words, their attentiveness and their concern during the whole surgery process. It's been more than 3 years since her surgery and she is stronger than ever!\r \r The office staff also are incredible with animals. You can tell they really care about animals and treat them like they would their own. They understand that pets are part of the family and they treat them with kindness. Pros: great docs, great staff, ample parking more

Very friendly & affordable 11/15/2006

I took my cat to the Cary Vet Hospital and the vet was very nice and helpful for my situation. They are one of the most affordable vets in town and I am very pleased with their service. The vet was also very knowledgable which is great since my cat is very important to me! Pros: Everything Cons: N/A more

Caring staff 7/10/2006

I don't understand the less than excellent rating this clinic has received. I've been taking my animals there for more than ten years, and I've always been pleased with the level of care they have received and with the concern the vets have shown for the welfare of the animals. \r Dr. McCann is a terrific vet. I hope that the overall rating will be increased to reflect a more accurate appraisal. Pros: Staff is friendly and supportive. The primary vets are excellent. The prices are in line with other vet offices in the area. more
