I’d put this in the category of San Francisco happenings with good entertainment and a view. On Telegraph Hill on Thursday nights Carol Peters and her husband Art turn their condo into a jazz salon where there’s dinner around their dining room table, after cocktails on the patio with this incredible bay and downtown view. All the while there’s a superb piano player Jeff Orchard on a baby grand playing some sweet old jazz tunes. After dinner our hostess sang a set. The music was great and I only wish Carol sang more. It was like being in Peggy Lee’s living room ! Earlier she was great getting conversation started around the table of complete strangers, a mix of about a dozen out-of-towners and locals, straights and gays, old and not so old. We talked about everything. Before Carol sang Art gave a brief charming talk about Telegraph Hill with visuals. The food is homemade rustic Italian--- my night was stuffed shells, chicken marsala, spinach salad, bread, wine, tiramisu. The night’s over by around 10 and they’ll call you a cab. I came by myself and loved the entire experience.
