I was looking to get rid of our 2007 VW Eos. We live in Jersey City and walk or take public transportation everywhere. We were using the car less and less, so between parking, insurance, etc. it was hardly worth keeping. I took it to a couple of dealers who completely low-balled me. I don’t expect top dollar from a dealer, but 5 to 6 thousand dollars below retail? That seemed a little much. I didn’t want to post the car on ebay or Craigslist because who wants to deal with that aggravation? I thought I was out of options, then I found Joseph at Carnation through an Internet search. It was a bit of a schlep to get the car out to L.I. but I am very glad I did. Joseph did a thorough exam of the car and suggested that filing an insurance claim for the few scrapes on the car and then repairing them would help the value a lot. I left the car with Joseph that day. I’m not the kind of guy to turn over my car keys to someone I’ve know for 20 minutes, but something told me I could trust Joseph to take care of the situation. Again, very glad I did. I was honest with Joseph about why I wanted to get rid of the car. A lot of other people would take this as a sign that I was desperate to get rid of the car and offer me some lame amount for it (like the dealers did), but that is not what he did. \r
According to Joseph, there were a few options: He could sell the car at an auction, sell it dealer-to-dealer, or look for a retail buyer. He very clearly explained the pros and cons of each. I told Joseph that I would leave it up to him to pick the best way to go. Joseph spent a lot of time I don’t normally leave decisions like this up to other people but I had a sense I was in good hands. Within a few days, Joseph had come up with an idea how each of the three scenarios would play out in terms of money. I decided which way I wanted to go (dealer to dealer which would be quicker than a retail sail) and that was about all I had to do. Joseph handled paying off the bank, all the paperwork on his end (with a few signatures from me) and every other aspect of the transaction. In short, Joseph took one of my least favorite activities: buying/selling/leasing a car and made it pretty effortless. Thanks again Joseph!\r
