Dr. Beers is nice, but most of his staff is incompetent and/or rude. The receptionist usually acts like you are inconveniencing her by being there. Exam prices are low, but made up for charging you for medications you don't need - including ones they don't even tell you they are including. The woman I saw before Dr. Beers came in lied to me about my dogs having fleas (I got a second opinion and the vet couldn't find any) and then forced me into buying preventative medicine instead of treatment. I received nothing from them for actually treating the fleas she claimed my dog had. When I tried to return the preventative medicine (because I use an all-natural repellant instead), I was told they couldn't because it was ""prescription medication."" This makes absolutely no sense since my dogs were never given a prescription and you can buy the exact same stuff (at a fraction of the cost) online without a prescription. It's a scam and I will never go back. more

Honestly, this place is one of the best I have been to, I actually found the staff and Doctor Beers more friendly than previous vets I have been to. I find them to be professional, knowledgeable and VERY kind and sensitive. I agree that you have to be proactive about asking questions. I have a cat with some health problems, I have never waited more than 10 minutes in the lobby, I have always seen Dr.Beers at every visit, and I have always had all my questions answered. The first time I came to Dr.Beers, we actually sat and talked for a while about my cats past problems, ways to solve current issues, and foods that Dr.Beers recommends. Unfortunately I do see the place busy sometimes, and I would guess that perhaps he could not show this attention every time..but I personally have never had this problem. I have been to other vets that have charged me upwards of 4 times what I get charged at CPC. So I think for the money, this place is amazing I would recommend it to anyone with cats, (I don't have any other animals so I could not speak to that.) more

Best Vet in town 10/27/2011

Dr. Beers is the friendliest most knowledgeable vet in town. We have taken both of our pitt bulls there and they have helped our pups with everything from needed surgeries to basic check ups. The staff is friendly and they try their level best to give affordable options. more

Saved my dogs life 3/23/2011

Dr Beer and the staff at Care Pet Clinic are AWESOME !!!!!!! My 9 yr old beagle collie was extremely sick and needed emergency surgery and he was able to do it for half of what the other vet was quoting....This hospital saved my dog's life....they are the friendliest people and the hospital is extremely clean as are the kennels..I was able to call and check on her and even spent a couple of hours with her in her kennel....I have felt very loved throughout the whole process....I highly recommend this clinic to anyone with an animal.... more

The prices are great and Dr. Beer himself seems knowledgeable and professional---if you're lucky enough to see HIM. But........... more

The Best! 9/1/2010

My dog and I moved to New Jersey three years ago. We fly back just to see Dr. Beer because no other vet is as good as him. It's worth every penny. more

Great Veterinarian 7/27/2010

Dr. Beer and his staff were wonderful! My dog is huge, aggressive & fairly unmanageable. I had gotten quotes of $1000 and more to have his surgery. And that wouldn't have taken care of my fear of the dog's acting up and being untreatable. Dr. Beer took time to talk to me, gave me a do-able quote, and was perfectly ok with treating my wildman. Thank God for him and his patient staff! I know how bad the dog is, but now the dog's arthritis is better, he thinks he's a pup again, and I have a vet that I know will help me!? Pros: great value and very understanding more

Lovely Staff, Care Pet Clinic is Great 7/16/2010

I took my dog in to be treated for a prolapsed rectum. When we arrived we were the only ones in the waiting room. We were seen promptly. The staff was friendly and polite. Pros: clean facility, professional staff Cons: not open weekends or evenings for us working folks more

Dr. Beer is wonderful so is the staff 5/27/2010

Dr. Beer always spends allot of time with us, we take all three animals to him. You have to ask questions, give symptoms and he will go over all of the options for your pet. We have a cat who has had problems with UTI's for years and he helped us solve her problem. Our dog has allergies and he has really helped us with the care of his skin through food and shampoo. Very expensive allergy testing was done but was inconclusive, dog is much better with the food and shampoo. We love him but one of our cats literally hates him, but she hates everybody except us. Pros: friendly staff - kind and knowledgeable Dr. Cons: air freshener is a bit overwhelming more

Great affordable care, long wait 5/24/2010

I've been taking my cats to this vet for two years now, and I've always had good experiences. Maybe it depends on the day or how you yourself act toward them, but I've never felt that the staff didn't care about me or my pets. I get the same nurse (is that the right term?) every time and she always remembers me and the details about my cats even if it's been months since the last visit. Truthfully I've only seen Dr. Beer twice, but both times have been for more serious reasons than a simple immunization visit. The last time I saw him he was very helpful. I can see why some people had an issue with getting advice or follow-up instructions. One of my cats also has/had Giardia and he told me he would prescribe him some medicine. At this point he seemed about to leave the room, but that's when you have to be forward and actually ask him questions. A lot of professionals are so used to what they do it may not occur to them that you need extra information - they are only human, after all. I'll leave Mom2Two06 a comment telling her what he told me to do. The only drawback I find with this vet is the long wait, I've waited up to an hour before getting into one of the rooms. Overall I find this to be a good vet, especially at their prices, and haven't had any major concerns with them. I would definitely recommend this vet. Pros: Friendly Staff, affordable, great care Cons: Long wait more

Who is this mysterious Dr.Beer? 2/12/2010

Although CPC is extremely afforable and some of the staff are absolutely wonderful, it is not some place that I will return for my dog's annual vet visit. The receptionist is not well-versed in hospitality and borders on rude and abrupt. I have been in with my puppy 3 times and have yet to see the vet who's name is on the front door. I asked the receptionist if I could please meet him before he did my dog's spay and she told me that he was just too busy. I came to this clinic specifically because Dr.Beer came so highly recommended and frankly am pissed off that he hasn't once administered to my dog. I've seen two other vets and both were abrupt and uninterested in the care of my dog. This is not a place I would feel comfortable talking my dog for any medical concern other than basic immunizations. Pros: affordable Cons: lack of concern, felt rushed, no follow-up directions more

Nice, efficient.. could have taken more time 1/30/2010

Took my pups to CPC last week and received basically the visit I expected (as in: you get what you pay for). Yes, staff will be friendlier and vets will give you more time if you pay for it. Turns out both of my babies have Giardia and I was given a pill for them to take. However, I wasn't given any additional information what-so-ever, which is disappointing. Internet research tells me that Giardia is very difficult to get rid of, was likely passed on to my cats and can be passed on to my kids. Dr. Beer didn't offer any additional advice on decontaminating the yard, house, the GiardiaVax or any other precautions to take. He didn't even really seem all that interested in seeing the cats. For basic care, I think CPC is great. The entire appointment was only $145, which included a second round of DHLPP and their Rabies. For more in depth care, it may be more worth your time to see another vet. I have a return appointment, so we'll see how that goes. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Too quick, hostile cats in the waiting room more

Surprised after reviews 1/25/2010

After reading the reviews, I expected to be pleased by taking my newly adopted pet here. I originally planned on taking my new cat to OSU because I am a grad student there and my mother had a great experience with her greyhounds at the clinic. But I adopted my cat from Pets Without Parents and in order to have them pay for meds that my cat needed due to a respiratory infection that started while he was there, I had to go to their vet. Pros: affordable Cons: waited, then felt rushed, didn't have much explanation more

Great People and Care 10/26/2009

I've had pets all my life, but I have never before had a vet as caring and competant as Care Pet Clinic. The staff is friendly and helpful and I know my pets are getting the best care available in Columbus. Pros: Very competant and caring staff more

Best Vet in Columbus 6/1/2009

I have been coming to Care Pet Clinic ever since I adopted my cat 2 years ago at the recommendation of Pets Without Parents. The doctors are always willing to spend time with you discussing your pet and are so friendly and knowledgable. It continues to amaze me how affordable their services are. They also have the friendliest office cats to serve as the welcoming committee. :-) Pros: Excellent care, friendly staff, inexpensive Cons: rough area of town more

Wonderful, Caring, Affordable, GREAT! 2/22/2009

This is a wonderful pet clinic! We have several clinics within a mile of our house, but we travel further to get to Care Pet Clinic. They are so friendly, the office is so clean, and they do not gouge you with prices. They are not only kind to me, but also very gentle and loving toward my dogs. Pros: Clean, friendly, reasonably priced Cons: Sometimes seems like they might be overbooked more

Wonderful people 1/21/2009

I love this vet! No where else have i gotten such good care and compassion out of a vet. Not only did they help me with my concerns after my puppy was spayed, but Dr. Beer called my house a few days later to make sure she was doing alright. The staff is kind and friendly, the animals there always seem happy. I love that they have in house cats. My puppy warmed up to the staff and dr. beer right away and usually it takes her a while. I wish I could give them more stars more

Wonderful Vet Clinic 12/2/2008

Care Pet Clinic is great, they have affordable service, they are knowledgeable, and they are very welcoming. I recommend them to everyone. more

The most AMAZING vet experience EVER! 10/27/2008

I love EVERYONE there... the vets, the staff... EVERYONE! First of all - the other reviews are correct - they are the least expensive in town, and truly amazing care and time is taken with each animal! Twice now, I have had a situation where my pet was in discomfort, and both times, they told me to just bring him in - even though they were booked, they would fit him in, so he wouldn't have to be uncomfortable for any longer than necessary. I don't get this kind of availability from my kids' doctors!!! Pros: Amazing Staff, Low Cost Cons: Poor Signage - Hard to locate more

BEST prices, EXCELLENT vets 6/17/2008

we were quoted almost $800 for dental work for our cat from Banfield, and for the same procedure we paid $150 with care pet. The vet was amazing and very knowledgeable. The clinic is hard to find, but the receptionist was very helpful with that. Pros: prices Cons: location more
