I recently had trouble with the brakes on my 2011 pathfinder. The drivers side front had a scraping sound coming from it, I was pretty sure it was from rust. Since it is a leased vehicle I took it to Fucillo nissan for diagnosis/repair. They told me I needed complete brake replacement on both front wheels for approaching $600.
I felt I knew better, so I took it to Burdick Nissan for a second opinion. Guess what? They told me the same thing and gave me a written quote, also for total brake replacement again for $600.
Now, I may not be a mechanic, but I know enough to know I was being had. I have been bringing my 300zx to Cantech for years and never felt like I was being ripped off, so I decided to bring the Pathfinder there for a 3rd (and final) opinion. I was all set to pay them the $600 for the brake replacement rather than one of the other 2 shops just based on the my past experiences. Rocco and his employees have never made me feel uneasy or suspicious regarding any diagnosis, and they have always provided excellent service in the past. I should add that the Pathfinder only has 25000 miles on it, so needing new brakes was unlikely.
Much to my surprise and delight they found the left front shield scraping and a little rust, they remedied the problem for $50. The right front brake was fine, I'm wondering if Burdick or Fucillo would have actually replaced the brakes or just taken 15 minutes to repair the problem and then charged me for a complete brake job?
Anyway I will (and do) recommend Cantech to anyone asking for the place for automotive repair. Kudos to you all at Cantech for being an honest repair facility. Sad to say, you may be the only one left.
Thanks again,
Ed Schladebeck
