Great Salad, Great Service! 9/7/2008

I've just come back from having brunch at Camilo's. The service was friendly and attentive. The Santa Fe Chicken Salad was wonderful. Tasty and interesting. Great experience. I'll go back. Pros: Tasty food, friendly service more

Food is good but service is poor 8/22/2008

food is good, place is nice and clean, but he service is inconsistent and sometimes outright bad. They make alot of mistakes and never apologize. I just don't feel like they appreciate my business. They should pay more attention to training their employees. Luckily they arent the only game in town. Pros: Tasty food Cons: Bad service: rude and slow more

Cold food and rude management 1/25/2008

Entrees were actually pretty good, but the overall experience was poor. Linen specks floated all over our glass of wine so we had to ask for another one. For dessert, we ordered the Amelia?s Apple, which was suppose to be served warm, but when the dish arrived, the apple inside the pastry shell was half cooked and the filling was cold. We brought it our waitress? attention and she did apologize and offered us another dessert, to which we declined fearing another disappointment, but she said she would let the manager know and to see if the dessert could be taken off the bill. When the bill arrived, we were still charged the dessert and when asked why, the manager said because it was partially eaten and that the waitress had offered to warm up the dish (which she had not). The manager was defensive and had no interest in listening to our concerns or pleasing us as the customers even though she acknowledged that the dish was not up to par. Eventually, she said she would take the dessert off the bill, but by then, she had already left a disgusting impression to what could have been an okay dining experience. I would not recommend this sub-par establishment with their inadequately prepared dessert and discourteous management at all. Pros: Decent entrees Cons: Linen specks in wine, inadequately prepared dessert, and rude management more

perfect for lunch 1/8/2008

Great food and great service. Try the Calamari sandwich with the side of pesto, my favorite dish. Enjoy!! Pros: Food, service, Ambience Cons: Parking (watch out when parking on the street) more

classic and warm 12/18/2007

we have been going to camillos on and off for a year and we have had nothing but excellent service and consistantly good food. you always feel welcome, the staff seems seasoned and mellow. I think some of the waitstaff has been their for many years, very profesional. I always get the pasta putanesco or the chilequilles. Never disappointed. Its also so easy to park unlike a few other eagle rock hot spots. Pros: great waitstaff more

Great Food in a Cozy Setting 12/10/2007

Went for the first time and loved it! Great food, good service - everyone was so personable, making you feel so welcome. The setting is so cozy - perfect for a winter meal. Heard their brunch is fantastic - have to go back and try it! Pros: Ambience more

Horrible service! 11/6/2007

We live in the area and like to try out new places. On our first visit to Camilo's, we were impressed by the food but definately not impressed by the service. The hostess did not welcome us when we walked in, did not smile or make the slightest of effort to acknowledge that we were standing in front of her while she yapped away on the phone on what seemed to be a personal call. After a few minutes, one of the waiters walked by and asked if we'd been seated - duh, no! We were still standing there. He proceeded to sit us, a bus boy walked by and gave us some water and after about 20 minutes our waiter stopped by to take our drink order. 10 minutes passed and he took our lunch order, 45 minutes passed and we finally got our food, sort of. We ordered steak and eggs, and they forgot the eggs. We ended our meal, with no refills on our coffee or water because the waiter did not stop by again, and asked the busy boy for our check. Our waiter was too busy chit chatting in the back with the rest of the staff. The bus boy brought the check by, and we waited, and waited and waited 20 minutes for someone to come and pick up the payment. Since no one did, we went up to the ""hostess"", interrupted her still ongoing call, paid and walked out wondering what we'd done wrong. Oh, and we left a tip for the bus boy. Now, we'd understand any of this on a busy day, but they had only three other customers in the restaurant when we walked in and one was left when we walked out. So, needless to say, our 1 1/2 hour experience at Camilo's was not a good one. The second, third and fourth visits were no better. Pros: Good food Cons: Horrible service more

Best Holiday and special occasion reservations! 5/13/2007

Just came back from a lovely Mother's day Brunch. Was greeted at Camilo's by one of the owners, Amelia. Seated promptly. Our other family members were running late but even in the midst of the busy brunch crowd coming, we never felt rushed. The best dishes were the eggs nest tamale as well as the salmon over spinach and the waffles yum!\r can't wait to go back! Pros: parking in back more

Superb food in a tacky setting 2/12/2007

We met our family there, a large group of 9. I am in not in favor of large groups in restaurants (max 6 people is my pref) but inspite of that we had a splendid time. The service was perfect, attentive but not over bearing. Everyone loved their dinners. I had the monkfish special....awesome. There was a filet beef & noodle special dish that everyone loved. The tenderloin got raves too. This was the first restaurant I've know to make good mash potatoes. We got 6 desserts and shared them and I liked them all but the chocolate brownie seemed to be the favorite. The decor is a bit ""old lady tacky"", it is just too cute for my taste but I would definitely go back for the food....bravo to the chef! Pros: awesome food!!! Cons: looks like a tacky gift shop more

Absolutely Highly Recommended 1/28/2007

An Eagle Rock favorite for breakfast or lunch for family 11/3/2006

For breakfast I always crave their chilaquiles or huevos rancheros. They've got a great childrens menu--my 7-year-old loves the pancakes. Paper tablecovers and a box of crayons brought by the waiter always keep her busy.\r For lunch, you can't go wrong with any sandwich or salad. I love the Santa Fe salad.\r Dinner is more formal. I hardly ever go for dinner but the times I have, I've been delighted by the elegant dishes and candlelit atmosphere. (Looks like a good date place.)\r Highly recommended! more

Great brunch 10/30/2006

We eat here quite often for breakfast, and love it. Lots of options. The eggs benedict are tasty! Everything we've had is full of flavor. They have a lot of choices. Haven't been there for dinner in a couple of years, but enjoyed it then, and heard it still is enjoyable. Pros: Food service more

Finally Great Gourmet Food at a Reasonable Price 2/14/2006

My girlfriend and I eat here about twice a month due to the amazing food on the menu. Everything from the breakfast - lunch - dinner is amazing! This is also a great place to take guests from out of town. The service is fanastic! Highly Recommended. Pros: Original Dishes, Fairly Priced, Excellent Service more

Best In Years 8/17/2005

I can't remember when I have had food this good. The Banana Foster waffles are to die for ! This was a pleasant experience for me. It's been too long to remember when food in a restaurant was that good as well as reasonably priced. Perfection at Camilo's!! more

Highly Recommended 11/13/2004

A wonderful dining experience thanks to Camilo's great ambiance, service, and especially delicious and inventive dishes. A favorite: Camilo's Vegetable Napoleon. It's California cuisine at its best and very highly recommended. more
