My daughter has been with Calliope for almost 4 years, and we wouldn't consider going anywhere else. It's not far from Metric and Parmer, so if you live in Central to North Austin and the surrounding areas, it's an excellent choice. Our trainer teaches at all levels and has a love for and knowledge of horses, coupled with a desire to share it all with you! When my daughter started, she was 9 and neither one of us knew anything about horses or riding. ( I think I almost drove her crazy with all of my questions!) After checking with other places, Calliope was the only stable that provided private lessons for the new rider. All of the other places offered group lessons, and while that may sound like a great way to introduce your youngster to the world of riding, the one on one instruction and attention to detail allows your child to maximize the whole experience, and I think it's better for the horses too! You maximize your $$$ as well! We now have our own horse, and my daughter competes in Hunter/Jumper Divisions. She has thrived and we both have an admiration and respect for these beautiful animals! If you're not interested in committing to lessons right away or are looking for a fun camp I highly recommend it for the summer. The older girls help with the younger ones, and it's a great environment to get good and dirty in! Just learning the basics of these stately animals will leave quite an impression. If, on the other hand, you're an experienced rider, the expertise and knowledge offered is well suited for all levels.\r
