NOT as good as I'd hoped 11/17/2005

After a disappointing dinner, I decided to try Nola again, this time for lunch--I was disappointed again. On both occasions, the food was mediocre at best. The menu was pretentious, yet the meals were not well prepared. Why chefs sometimes feel the need to channel the spirits of 80's haute cuisine without bothering to master basic cooking technique is beyond me. Well prepared, simple, rustic food would have been so much more satisfying and appropriate. In addition, service was, at the same time, both ingratiating and absent. I wanted to enjoy this place, but I won't be back. How sad. Pros: Appealing ambiance Cons: Second rate cuisine, Overpriced more

Not What We Expected! 8/20/2005

We stopped there recently after reading in United's ""Three Perfect Days in Seattle"". It was very disappointing. The food was pricey, service mediocare, and most important food below average. I ordered pork loan, which was recommended by the waiter and it was dry, portions small and not very good. My wife ordered the steak salad, and it was over seasoned with pepper and almost unedible. The best item was the bread pudding!! I would recommend staying away from this place. Pros: Outdoor Dining Cons: Pricey more

mixed... 6/6/2005

Nola's is a step-up for dining on Bainbridge, but falls way short of being a ""real find."" We found the service to be pleasant, but not very professional. The menu sounds good, but the large portions did not compensate for utterly tasteless crostini with white beans or scallops atop mashed potatoes. Things were haphazard overall; we can eat much better at home! Pros: in center of town Cons: food, service more

Only a ferry ride away... 8/25/2004

i've been here twice: the first time, i sat outside and the second time, i sat inside. both are charming ways to enjoy a meal at this delightful restaurant. they have a terrific brunch menu. their weekday lunch menu is also good. the decor matches their service, i.e., it's warm and inviting. if you do sit inside, ask for a table in the back where there's a partial view of the marina and whimsical paintings on the wall. Pros: great american fare, warm service, lovely decor more
