In response to review from ""trulyconcerned"" 3/24/2010

This is in response to a review made recently from an employee who left our clinic. \r \r Animal Kingdom has always prided itself on being a very caring hospital, and treating every pet that comes in here as one of our own. Our doctors are extremely well educated and professional. Our support staff from reception, assistants, and technicians are here because of their love to help any and all pets. They are here for no other reason. In no way at all are any of our employees abusive towards animals. \r \r We perform numerous surgies daily, and operate in a sterile surgical environment. We would perform surgeries no other way. \r \r The previous reviewer has a genuine love for animals. Which is what this profession needs. Our staff, and specifically our Head Technician, treat every animal with respect and show them that they want to take care of them. Whether it's drawing blood, taking an x-ray, or giving a vaccine, our staff shows they love our client's companions. \r \r Anyone reading the previous review, I welcome to give our clinic a call and ask to speak to me. My name is Chaz Tousley and I am the Practice Manager at Animal Kingdom. You can reach me at 315-699-0375, or by e-mail at ctousley@akvhvet dot com and I will be glad to go over any and all questions anyone may have regarding our clinic. \r \r We have a terrific staff here at Animal Kingdom, a staff I will gladly talk about with anyone, a staff who is competent at what they do, and a staff that cares.\r \r Thank You\r \r Chaz Tousley\r Practice Manager\r Animal Kindgom Veterinary Hospital\r \r more

Vets Don't Scrub for Surgeries - ""Head Tech"" Abusive 3/6/2010

Dr. Prosser is wonderful. Dr. Zayas-Swanson is a good vet... very knowledgeable. The staff is decent, except for one... I say this from personal experience having just been hired and having just left less than 2 weeks later. Their ""head technician"" isn't really a technician - she's not licensed in NYS and is basically a glorified assistant with an attitude. She is nasty to co-workers (picking her ""favorite"" as the mood strikes her) and she is nasty and abusive to animals that don't ""cooperate."" She needs to be fired and no one there - not management or the owner - will do it. So, she stays on payroll and I can't explain it. Many, many really excellent employees (including myself) have left because of this person. And, until she is fired, many more will follow. It's sad, it's a shame, and it's disgraceful. There is also another aspect of the practice that I found not only unacceptable, but horrifying. The doctors do not scrub in for surgeries. The put on sterile gloves, but that's it. No scrubbing of the hands and arms, no gowns, no hats, and no masks. As a veterinary technology student, that scares me. There is such a risk of infection!!! And, I would NEVER have an animal operated on there. Not that I doubt the vets are capable... but, they (for whatever reasons) don't feel they need to scrub in for surgeries. And, that's not cool. There is a lot of good things about Animal Kingdom, and an equal amount of bad things... the ""bad"" things are fixable... scrub in for surgeries and fire your ""head technician."" If both of those things happened, I would gladly recommend Animal Kingdom, hands down. Until then, don't go there. Pros: Doctors are competant and most staff is great. Cons: No scrubbing for surgeries - head tech abusive more
