Best

We have lived by Buddha's Belly for three years and had never been in--primarily because I was concerned that my husband, who has a pepper allergy, couldn't survive a place sure t...

Worst

Yikes. I ordered tuna tacos and fried rice, easy. The tacos were not at all appetizing and the tuna was very near going bad, yuck. Threw that out after 2 bites, not good enough fo...

Great Food!! 3/16/2004

I've eaten here several times and everything on the menu is a winner. The service was prompt and friendly. Don't forget to rub the Buddha on the way out! more

A Home Away From Home 10/14/2003

Ok, so it's NOT so far away from home. We live a block away and couldn't be happier about it. We dine here once a week and have done so since the week it opened. This is where we bring out of town friends, large groups and small. Never have any of our guests been disappointed with their meals. Prices are more than reasonable. The outside dining area is lovely, and suprisingly intimate considering the busy street. The wait staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. The owners are there evry night to ensure a quality dining experience. We love this place. more

Zensational! 7/17/2003

I had a few friends who were raving about BUDDHA BELLY and I had to try it myself. The food was GREAT. The service was IMPECCABLE and the ambiance was really cool...it's not what you'd expect from the outside. I also thought the outdoor seating was a real plus...I had a hot ELIXIR and I'll admit I felt relaxed and rejuvenated! I'm becoming a regular. Pros: food, service, elixirs more

Great Food and Feng Shui! 7/3/2003

This is my new favorite restaurant! I'm just as tired of Pan-Asian cuisine as the next L.A. diner. However, Buddha's Belly is different. Unlike at those other pretentious L.A. establishments, this Pan-Asian cuisine is flavorful and affordable. My favorite dishes are the miso-glazed eggplant, mushroom salad (!), tom yum ramen and black cod. Just order family style and try it all! It's a great place to meet up with friends. The music and feng shui provide a great vibe. Add friendly service and a sake mojito...and you'll want to go back again...and again... more

Great Asian Food, not fusion 4/9/2003

I thought this place was going to be another fusion cuisine, but was pleased to notice that it is moreso a restaurant that offers amazing, authentic food from a variety of Asian cuisines such as Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and others. I liked being able to order great Pad Thai noodles along with Japanese Miso Eggplant. Good crowd, attentive service and atmosphere make me want to eat there again... soon! more

Tasty! Tasty!... and reasonable 4/8/2003

It's rare that something like a vegetable egg roll could touch my heart, but Buddha's Belly's did! Wonderfully crispy and full of mushrooms and other goodies. They were the perfect starter to what was ahead. Hypnotic Miso Black Cod and a deep, flavorful Tom Yong Goong Thai soup rounded out this West Hollywood gem. Try the unfiltered Sake as well - hadn't tried it before. GREAT PRICES AS WELL! Didn't sit outside, but the patio looking inviting. Pros: Affordability, Great Food, Patio Cons: None in Santa Monica, Closed on Mondays more

Excellent Food & Service 3/27/2003

Excellent, creative Thai and New Wave Asian dining in a hip and trendy space on Beverly Blvd. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us chose which dishes for our first visit. He was refreshingly nice and without ""attitude."" Nothing is over $15 but the plates do add up. The soup house special was great, as was the Thai Beef. You can't go wrong here. Come early or expect a wait. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

Buddha;s Belly NOT bland! 2/24/2003

The food here is anything but bland! Our calamari dalad had an unbeatable dressing [they should bottle it] our potstickers were delec table, the green beabs x.o. outstanding, and the Singapore seafood noodles, not only beautiful to behold, but amazingly, the generous amounts of different seafoods each were perfectly cooked! Don't miss the coconut sorbet ina cocomut shell! There were many things I still want to try on the interesting menu. Service was knowledgable and courteous. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: too far from West Sid, Need real wine glasse more

great. 2/4/2003

Good Food. Good Service. Good Prices. How could you not like this place. Sure, I had a short wait (10 min.), but it was worth it. The new patio is cool too. Pros: Food, Service, Patio Cons: Wait more

Decent food, not worth a long wait 1/28/2003

We went on a Sat. night and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Not unusual, since they just opened. The food was alright -- nothing particularly special, but not crappy either. For a group of four, it ran us about $75. If you're in the area and want decent Pan-Asian food, and there isn't a wait, try it. more

Listen to the users on this one. 1/25/2003

I'm not sure what the Citysearch editorial team was on when they ate at Buddha's Belly, but I had nothing but a great experience. Unlike most restaurants in LA, the service was great. From the moment I walked in the door to the guy who delivered the food....and the food was anything but bland. I thought it was a great mix of Asian cuisines that were flavored perfectly. Buddha'a isn;t high end and it's not low end food. It's perfect for a moderately priced restaurant and you get a great value all around. Pros: Great Servic, Food quality more

Best Value and Selection! 1/2/2003

There's something for everyone at this newly opened eatery. Authentic dishes from every country in the East. Whatever your asian craving may be ... you will find it here! The black cod was delicate and flavorful! Service was friendly and fast! A lot of thought was put into the decor giving it a very cozy feeling. The crowd was ecclectic, from LA chic to families. Convenient to the Grove with lots of parking! Highly recommended! Pros: Great value, Great service, Great selection more
