Good Place for Burger & Beer 10/17/2011

My friends and I all live near Brown's and drive by there all the time. It always looked a little scary to me, but we stopped by after work last week and it was really good. Definitely won't win a decor competition, but my burger was tasty and the beer was cold. Service was good too. We will definitely be back soon. more

Doesn't Pass Inspection 3/31/2009

After having heard so much about this diner, my wife and I decided to try it. After getting past the less than desireable surroundings, we decided to order. While waiting for our food, we could see the kitchen staff through an open pass-thru. I observed one of the cooks scratch his armpit with his bare hand and then continue cooking without blinking an eye let alone washing his hands. Where is a Health Inspector when you need one. Needless to say, I will not return nor will I recommend this restaurant. Cons: Employees do not follow good food handling practices. more

Great place for a burger and fries! 6/24/2008

great great shoe-lace fries! The burger is greasy and delicious, as is the company. Browns is the finest of all the dives in nashville! If you are looking for an ice cold beer, burgers, fries and chili, browns is a MUST! Pros: Cheap! Fast! Tasty! Cons: go somewhere else if you are looking for a lite-bite to eat. more

best burger in town 6/17/2008

We always take our friends from overseas here, because it is a true southern dive, and the cheeseburgers are amazing. Pros: great food and service more

Umm, good. I want more. 5/15/2008

This was the best piece of meat I have ever put in my mouth. It was juicy, warm and tasted so good. The ketchup ran down my chin but that was my fault because I put so much on it. I washed it down with about four cold beers. I am a petite girl of 102lbs. and I was full. Pros: great food, better buzz Cons: I want more more

Not Really a Diner, But Great Just the Same 2/27/2008

I walked into Brown's after reading the excellent reviews of its burgers and I was not disappointed. The cheeseburger and fries tasted like a delicious upscale fast food, and were priced about the same. I ate a burger, fries, and had 2 cold beers for only $11.00 (not including tip). I highly recommend it. \r \r One change to this page.... Brown's is no longer a smoking establishment. Pros: What they serve is great. Cons: They have a very limited menu. more

Best Burger I ever Had 4/5/2007

So I returned to Brown's on a misty autumn afternoon, eagerly anticipating what would prove to be a mind-relocating culinary experience. Upon my arrival to the heart-warming facade, I was promptly seated by the Maitre'd, Bill. The tables, accented with crimson and taupe checks, reflect a simpler age, an age where burgers and frito pies aren't demonized for not being organic and containing simple carbs and transfats. If you're looking for health food, go to Whole Foods you wimp; if you want real American food, Brown's does it better than anyone. Wonderful burgers, addicting fries, and beer that could have only been chilled in the diminishing Arctic circle, are staples of this family-owned establishment. This is the most American restaurant this side of the Mississippi. If you don't think so, you are likely French... or a communist. Pros: Ambience, Flo, Owner Cons: I'm not there right now. more

Best burger I've had since moving here! 3/26/2007

I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. We had 2 drafts, a frito pie appetizer (nachos really), 2 cheeseburgers, and fries for.....$22!!! To say this place was great is a severe understatement, this place was awesome. In just one meal, I have recommended this place to everyone I have spoken to since. I will definitely be back. I mean how can you beat it?! Cheap, great eats and there was ONE friendly waitress running the whole place. I might even go tonight the more I write. Get there as fast as you can! Pros: cheap eats, great staff & service (of one!), best burgers I've had in years, perhaps ever Cons: not one thing more

This place was great! 3/11/2007

Best Burgers in Town 11/5/2006

If I want to go eat the best burgers in town, then I'll always head to Brown's. It's your basic hole in the wall spot, but those are always the places that produce the best eats in my opinion. So if you want a great burger with some fries, then head to Brown's Diner. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Burgers more

Good for all occasions 7/30/2005

Despite what the CitySearch reviewer says, Brown's is good for all events. Birthday parties, romantic night out, graduation dinners, etc. The people are so friendly that every meal feels like a world-class celebration. In all seriousness, a number of families do come for dinner early in the evening, and even as the live music gets going late in the evening, the atmosphere is far tamer than your typical live venue. I'd say more, but I'm on my way there, right now. And as a correction, since the fire, they take credit cards now too! more

Slummingly wonderful burger. 7/23/2004

There are just about a hand-full of places in Nashville to geat a great burger. Brown's diner is in the top two. Don't expect anything fancy. This place is a double wide trailer that hasent seen any renovations since Nixon was in office - but that is part of it's charm. It is simplistic, but both the burgers and the fries are always consistently wonderful and the price is always reasonable. Pros: Great burgers, Great fries, Relaxed atmosphere more

Dive Bar Burger 11/6/2002

Brown's Diner is one of Nashville's Best kept secrets. I've introduced their burger to many friends and have always gotten the same response ""this is the best burger I've ever had!"" If you're in the mood for a quick, delicious burger & a beer in a casual setting, Brown's should be your destination. Pros: Quick Service, Good Parking, Inexpensive Cons: Atmosphere more
