I had taken my grandfather's 1940's 4-string banjo in for repair. The only thing that I had asked is that I get the original tuning pegs back after they were replaced. Of course, when I got it back, one was missing and no one could find it. They also told me that they weren't sure how to tune it. Brian was nice, but rather "burnt-out" and ran a very loose operation. It may be a good place to buy a guitar, but you should NOT have anything repaired there if you value the item. It also took 3 weeks to add a bridge and 4 tuning plugs and new strings because their repair guy is rarely there and they said, "He may be in this Saturday". Then it was, "Nope, he never made it in". I was left frustrated, and judging by the types of statements they made to me throughout the process, they were used to frustrated customers. more

I happened upon this site and called Bristol Guitar. They were shocked to know they could be found on the internet. But I did end up going down there to have my guitar set-up (right after I called), and ended up buying an electronic tuner and a new guitar case. People go there and just hang out. Like Katie G. said, they don't scam ya and they are fast and courteous. I will be going back for all my musical needs. more

Bristol Guitar is a small guitar shop that has new and used guitars, and even has lessons if that is what you need. The guitars are reasonably priced and the staff is very knowledgeable. They have cases, tuners, books or whatever you might need to get started, and they don't try to talk you into buying something that you don't need or can't afford. more
