Very happy customer 4/1/2014

We take our Toyota minivan to Bret's Independent for all service and they are fantastic. Very responsive, always easy and quick to get service. Very honest and clear about explaining if the car needs work. Friendly and upfront about costs. Used to take to the dealer but Bret's better priced. more

The people behind the counter at Bret's Independent were very professional, and I was very happy dealing with them. I first went in to just have my older car checked because I was going to give it to my son. We were going to drive it to Austin, Texas and I wanted to make sure all the hoses and things looked good. They noted I probably needed rear brakes, which I had them do. It was funny because when we went to have the transmission fluid changed one day, the heater wouldn't turn off while we were driving over there! They were able to fix that, too, before we drove through Arizona and all that. Their timing was great. Their service was very good, timely, and reasonable. more

Awesome--the only people I allow to work on my cars 12/2/2013

Bret's the only mechanic who has worked on my last car that I had for 10 years. He did all the routine work and always went above and beyond the call. If you needed a ride home, he made sure you got home (if you didn't want to rent). He's pleasant, friendly, and overall, one of the most trustworthy people I've met. more

Bret's Independent has been my mechanic for about three and a half years. The location of the shop is perfect for me. It's walking distance from where I live. He specializes in Asian-made vehicles, but he still does a great job servicing my Chevy Trailblazer. His recommendations are accurate, and the quality of his work speaks for itself. My SUV has 150,000 miles on it at this point. Bret is a fair and honest businessman, and he is very good at communicating. I know how long Bret has been in the business for. His shop has grown tremendously over the years because his work really stands on its own. I am always very happy with my experiences at Bret's Independent. I would highly recommend his services to anyone in the area looking to get work done. If you were to go to one of the big name dealerships down the street, you would pay a lot more. It would be foolish not to at least let him provide an estimate for you! more

STAY AWAY! 10/12/2013

This place is scam central, Brett is a fat lazy guy that smells and sits on his $@!#% all day telling his uneducated and untrained technicians what to do, and is usually its wrong and makes the problems worse. He marks up parts 300%!! This guy would steal a nickel from his own grandmother. I'm assuming all these "Positive" reviews were done by him or his "employees". Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere when in need of car services!! Never going to this thieves den again, he isn't part of the BBB for good reason. RIP OFF REVIEW IS A BETTER SITE TO SEE REAL REVIEWS OF GARBAGE PLACES LIKE THIS. more

Quality work from a very welcoming shop 10/11/2013

I have been going to Bret's Independent for twenty years now on and off. I mostly use them for regular maintenance. When I need specialty work done, they'll do it for me if they can. If they can't do it, they let me know and refer me to a place that can. From my experience, I know that they provide quality work for the prices they offer. I've never had to go back and fix work that they've done. They're very prompt in their service. If I am in a hurry, they will fit me into their schedule. Bret and his two sons are the ones who do all of the work. They also have their dogs at the shop, so it feels like a very welcoming place to be at. Overall, it's been an enjoyable experience. If you need a mechanic, I would definitely recommend going to Bret's Independent. more

They are great. 3/12/2013

We've been customers there for years now. We've had several things done to both of our Acuras. They did the routine maintenance on our MDX, and replacing the head gasket on our Legend. They delivered that within the price range and on time. The work was excellent and the car runs great. more

I would recommend them to anybody. 2/5/2013

This time around, I simply needed an oil change. My schedule is a little awkward because of work, so sometimes I just drop off my vehicle and pick it up the next day. They are professional, timely, reasonable, and give great advice. All in all, I've never had any problem with them and if any issue arises, they are there to make it right. more

Bret's Independent fixed the breaks and some issues with the engine on my car. In the past, other places had only patched the problem, but at Bret's, they fixed the problem at its root. more

An honest mechanic... that's a gold mine 11/1/2012

I have been doing business with Bret for a few years now. I like that he doesn't charge an arm and a leg for his labor and he's honest about the time he puts in. Everything he does is transparent. Beyond the usual repairs, I have asked Bret to do things that are custom and he has done these in a professional and timely manner. Custom work involves more communication and he has enjoyed it and stayed on top of things. more

Bret does very good work. 10/1/2012

We've had numerous problems from timing belts to brakes to a clutch on an old Mazda RX-7 fixed by Bret. He is able to handle a multitude of different vehicles. I am pleased with his performance. Bret seems very honest and upfront. If he has an issue he will let the customer know, he seems to do that well. more

They're awesome. Bret's Independent is always really prompt about getting my work done on time. They are professional, and they finish in a timely manner. I have never had any issues with their work. I love that they give free inspections, and they have really earned my trust over time. They also helped me buy a car. I took one in for a free inspection, and they steered me away from a car that could have been a disaster. They really saved me. more

Bret's Independent did a transmission replacement on my car. It went really well. He was very meticulous. He checked and rechecked to make sure that everything was working properly. He really goes out of his way to not only do a good job, but make the customer happy. He strives to give the best service at the best rate possible. more

I always trust Bret's Independent. If Bret says I need or don't need something, he'll tell me and won't take advantage of me. He's always very accommodating and was very nice about letting me get my car in fast when it got towed. When I was buying a car for my daughter, I asked him to check out it out and didn't charge me for it. Their work is very good. They have two cute dogs in their shop too. more

I have been using Bret's Independent for 15 years. They have worked on three different car's of mine. It has always been a very positive experience. There have been times when they have bent over backwards for us. The only reason for the one lower rating is just because no body is perfect and sometimes things have gotten in the way. more
