worth every penny 12/27/2011

my husband and his big bosomed blonde bimbo enjoyed a quiet table for 2 in the corner a few months ago. I only wished I'd found the reservation a few hours sooner so I could've been there to order and have delivered the most expensive bottle of champagne they sell! from what i understand, dinner from start to finish was scrumptious! Desert was served at the hotel across the street - equally scrumptious I'm sure! more

BEST steak in Houston 6/9/2010

I dined here with my boyfriend and his father last night. It was incredible. I got the 6 oz filet, med. rare. It was perfect. The service was great as well, everyone catered to us. The creme brule was also fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful, There is a big window looking out at a beautiful landscape. It was very expensive, but for a celebration or if you just have some money to burn, this place is definitely worth it! Pros: good food, big portions, great service Cons: expensive more

Excellent 6/22/2009

I had dinner here Monday w/ a friend. We both have been to most of the steakhouses in Houston & are pretty critical. We were very please w/ the food here.\r \r Jumbo lump crab cake: 5/5 - one of the best\r Bone-in ribeye: 4.5/5\r Au gratin potatoes: 4/5 - cheese was a little too thick & difficult to cut into, but the dish was very good\r Service: 5/5 - very friendly service\r Ambience: 3.5/5 - nice courtyard & water feature next to dining area, but interiors feel like grandma's house Pros: food, service more

Big Valentine Disappointment 2/15/2009

Valentine's day was a big disappointment. First, when charging $75 per person, the choices should reflect the price. We had to choose from the list one appetizer per couple, and one dessert per couple. What if you did not like the appetizer selection for your companion, or the dessert you chose was not what your husband or wife liked? You could choose your own salad and entree, but when paying $75 each, one should not have to comprimise on selection for a special evening out. The food was ok, but definately not worth the price. The service was slow, and we had to continue to ask for plates for our couple appetizers, and even the salt and pepper. In short, what could have been an expensive, but worth it Valentine dinner, just made us agree never to do that again.....Just not the same Brenners!!!! Pros: Convenient location Cons: Not worth the price more

Best Crab Cakes 3/19/2008

Great restaurant, if you love crab cakes you must try Brenners. I think the are the best in the world more

Great steak, great service, great food. 11/22/2006

But expensive, although ownership by Landry's seems to have stabilised the often extravagant pricing of the past. Landry's company has done Houston a great service in buying Brenners and retaining the individuality but improving levels of service and consistency.\r Brenners building is nearly hidden under overhead freeways, without the address in hand you might miss it. Do not miss it. The interior manages to convey the maleness of the macho steakhouse chains but appeals to women despite itself. Big plates of food expertly prepared, great steak, great potato and vegetable sides no dieting allowed here, great wine, excellant service. Make sure your employer or your host is paying and sit back and enjoy the feeling of exclusivity, superior service and atmosphere. \r I wrote a somewhat harsh review of another Houston steak restauant because their menu was old fashioned and predictable Brenners could be accused of the same but because they do it so well, with their own twist, Brenners is how you measure everyone else. You do not visit Brenners every week but you remember every visit. Pros: Great steaks, great food, great service Cons: Food and wine pricing is high more

Great Food, Big Portions 11/20/2006

My family loves going to Brenners. The food is aways excellent, and the service is wonderful. Their side items are quite large, so when you order them, be sure to plan on splitting with two or three people. Brenners is very quaint, but I wouldn't call it romantic b/c it does get quite noisy in there, but it is a very nice restaurant that you can go to to escape all the kids. Only adults usually dine here. We just love it. Pros: Big portions Cons: Small space more

Continues to be the best of the lot 7/1/2006

We dined there on steaks and lobster and loved every bite.\r \r We have been to Brenner's previously and I was concerned whether or not they could be consistently as good as the first time. The appetizer frightened me because it was such a strong cheese flavor no one at the table could eat it but after that it was all food dreams are made of. My lobster bisque as divine, The featured steak was marvelous and our waiter was top hat.\r \r Lobster is a chancy thing to order but our waiter said a few words to the chef and mine was so perfectly cooked and deliciously flavored I was mesmerized with each and every bite.\r \r Way to go Brenners.\r \r We will return and hope others will also. It is worth the price, which is rather steep, and the effort.\r \r Happy New Year to you all! \r \r Peggy Sholly\r Author\r Award Winning Cookbook Down Home Delicious Pros: Almost Everything Cons: Spinach Artichoke Dip had too strong cheese flavor more

Poor Service - will never go back 2/19/2006

Good food, bad service.Waiter hardly paid attention to us.next table had 3 different waiters so We felt overlooked.left dirty dishes on the table for long periods of time.had to ask for water.Slow on drinks-had to order another before we were half finished with the one we had. steak&creamed spinach-delicious! but Having bad service ruined entire meal.service was unreliable, unacceptable and incompetent-which made the food taste the same way.crowd was 50+, so not hip and trendy.have been to most every upscale steak restaurant in Hou. would definitley choose another instead. We had gone for a romantic dinner and it was anything but. Super loud in small room we were in. seated by a cold window, shoved into the corner by the billowing curtains that were in the way.We were going to share all this with a manager, but we weren't even asked how our meal was.would not recommend to anyone. more

The Best 8/29/2005

We have been there many times and were never disappointed, and their onion rings are the best we have found. more

Brenner is melt in your mouth steak 3/8/2005

From the appetizer to dessert, it is all melt in your mouth. The BEST steak that I have ever had. The have specail off the menu surprises at times. (fresh fish flow in from Hawaii was one of the surprises - not always available) Service has always been stunning. Romantic for the 2 of you or great for a small group. I do not recommend taking your kids. Reservation is highly recommended even for just 2 of you Pros: Service, High Quality Cons: Parking more

Sensational! 2/5/2004

Everything was perfect! The ambience is warm and rich, lots of wood and stone. The gardens are beautiful, displaying several water features. If you are eating inside, try to get a table by the window. Talk to the sommelier (Kim) for wine suggestions to match your courses. She did a fantastic job pairing wines for our crab cakes (best ever) and our dessert. The soups were good although French Onion was better than Lobster Bisque. For entrees, I had tenderloin (wet aged) topped with lump crabmeat; my date had the Rock Lobster tail. Both were cooked to perfection. As sides we ordered asparagus (tender) and German potatoes(great). Dessert was Crème Brulee Bread Pudding. Just amazing, my date said it was the best dessert ever. That was paired with a perfect dessert wine (thanks to Kim again). The service was impeccable, the manager stopped by to check on us three times. Pros: Service, Food, Ambience more
