Huh 1/3/2007

Bootyland really went downhill for us after they moved to the new location. The consignment selection went downhill fast and the staffing went from friendly to blah. I guess it's an OK shop if you're interested in new stuff at boutique prices, but parents looking for decent used clothes might as well just keep on going. more

Bootyland is Babe-arific! 10/19/2006

Now, I know what you're thinking and it's not that. Bootyland is THE place to shop for those fabulously hip kids in your life. Whether it's vintage dresses from the '50's, '60's and '70's or it's a "vintage recycled" black slip dress, you'll find all you need for your mini-fashionistas! Bootyland supports our local designers (many of them mothers of young children themselves) by selling their wares. You'll find messenger bag-style diaper bags decked in funky flowers or spooky skulls. Baby slings in all colors and patterns for "wearing your baby" close to you. You'll find previously loved clothing in the back of the store that is reasonably priced and fashion-friendly as well. Bootyland is owned by Ellie Cassidy who has created a true community around her store. On any given day, you'll find Ellie's children playing happily with the children of customers, or the children of friends who stop by just to chat. She also employs young mothers who bring their babies to work with them. It's typical to see a young mother with her infant in a sling as she sorts clothing and rings up customer's purchases. Whether you're a first time mother, or a seasoned parent of multiple kidlets you'll love shopping here. Visit Bootyland for your baby shower, birthday and new baby gifts as well!! more

FEAR THE BABY SHOWER NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!! 5/17/2006

When I think of Bootyland, I remember back when I was pregnant and going to play-dates and parent meet-ups at the store. I remember belly-dancing classes. I remember meeting the owners and other parents who worked there and just being amazed at how wonderful these people were. At Bootyland, you never feel like a "customer" per se, but more like a friend. From the begining. Have i forgotten to say how incredibly cool all the stuff they sell there is??? Hand made skirts, toys, shirts, suits, cloaks, bags, costumes (a common statement here is "Can I get that in an adult size?")...... punk rockin' kids tees, sneakers, booties, scarfs......stylin' diaper bags, locally made maternity wear (that i often see non-pregnant ladies buying just because they are such cool clothes).....hand made and beautifully painted kiddie tables, chairs, stools, and toy chests....did i mention kilts? Yeah, i said KILTS. And baby slings, and diapers and diaper covers, and radical parenting zines, and buttons, and shoes. And there's a few jars next to the register full of studs and spikes, just in case you need that extra touch on your diaper bag :) This store is a very ethical about where it gets its products, and if you have anything specific you want (organic cotton? vegan shoes? fair trade? good labor practices?), and I want all of those things, then this is the store for you! more

Leisure Suits for Toddlers! 8/20/2005

Friendly staff. Vintage children's clothes. Cool handmade/locally made clothes. Quality new toys. Cloth diapers. A nice likable store. The quality of consigned clothes isn't consistent, but they always have something fabulous. And it seems that they've eliminated the tie-dye factor, a definite plus. Cool shirts for kids "got breastmilk", etc. Ask for the Madison Market member discount if you qualify. more

a great kid's store 8/16/2005

Bootyland is awesome! They have unique used things and great new things too. They carry clothes hand made by local artists, and other hard to find items. Bootyland is a great place to take old clothes and toys as well, for credit towards future purchases. Some of the vintage things are a little more expensive, but there are definitely bargains to be had. more

my favorite baby clothing store 8/2/2005

for some reason everyone around me keeps having babies. i hope it's not contagious. but conveniently, i've been able to buy all of the baby presents in one place: at bootyland. i picked up a little oney for my brand new nephew that's all black and simply says "question authority" in white courier type across the front. my sister says she'll make him wear it when he meets my dad. i also picked up a oney for my quirky coworker who just had his 6th? 7th? kid. another plain black tiny thing - with text across the front that says "just hand over the tit and no one gets hurt". him and his wife both loved it. among other things it's got kids' sized ramones shirts, che guevarra, rockstar, ac/dc etc. they're affordable too... most of the stuff is under 20. more

Assortments of wooden toys made by HABA as well as local artisans are affordable and beautiful.
