The best secret Pilates in LA..... 5/15/2009

I have been doing Pilates for the last three years, and was always trying different studios until I found this studio. I ran into it, while on audition at this charming building. Pros: amazing instructors, very charming studio more

BACE = BEST IN LA 12/12/2008

BACE is the absolutely best place. I've been a 'gym buff' most of my life and decided to try pilates cuz I wasn't seeing any results by going to 24hr fitness. Within a couple of months, the change was significantly noticeable. Being a novice, carrie, alex, and mark are super patient and attentive. They automatically know if you're doing an exercise wrong and come over and adjust you so you do use the correct muscles. As for the studio, it's spacious and beautiful with just enough equipment. If you're a beginner, I would highly recommend you check out BACE. Their instructors are the best in LA and you'll find yourself believing in Pilates. Pros: gorgeous space, awesome instructors and good variety of classes more

Best pilates in southern California 10/12/2008

Ooooh dear lord <----that was essentially all I could say for the 2 days following my first class with Carrie Macy. She is hands down one of the best instructors I have ever taken pilates from (and I have been practicing for the past 8 years, spanning from Houston, Texas to Los Angeles, California). First of all, the studio itself is phenomenal; gleaming hardwood floors, gorgeously rustic columns decorating the space, massive floor-to-ceiling windows, pilates equipment galore! She worked my abs/legs/arms in a completely new way, essentially leaving me with that ""OWWWW! This hurts SO good"" kind of feeling."" I have already dropped a jean size just from taking her weekly group classes - she is an exceptional teacher that gives clear instruction (none of that ""sing-songy"" riffraff that makes me want to scream at them to shut up while my powerhouse is about to give out from doing The Hundred) and truly understands the human body. If you're bored with your current exercise routine or just looking to amplify your pilates regimen--run, don't walk, to Bace Pilates!! Pros: Parking, amazing instructors, fabulous interior decorating more

ACCOLADES For BACE: One of the best Pilates facilities in the U.S. (no lie!) 10/11/2008

BACE is *AB-solutely* one of the best Pilates studios in the greater Los Angeles area. No kidding. Some of the best instruction I've ever encountered at any of the numerous Pilates studios I've trained at, nationally, over the last six years of my practice. Pros: Everything! Cons: Parking can be a bit of an issue more

Bace-ically the best Pilates place! 10/11/2008

So I started doing Pilates to help with chronic back pains. After trying a a few trainers, someone finally referred me to Carrie Macy, one of the owners at Bace, and she was everything they had described and more. She is patient but determined to push your limits in a supportive way. Carrie doesn't waste time chatting: she's focused on what you are there to achieve and she is certainly not one of those intimidating trainers that pushes you by scaring you. She works at your pace, but somehow shows you that you are so much stronger than you ever thought! Not only do I no longer suffer from any back problems, I'm in the best shape I've ever been in (even after 2 babies!). I feel totally empowered. Pros: large space, great teachers, small class sizes Cons: no early morning classes more
