After one of our Bank Meetings one of my college recommended a comfetable Italien Restaurant in Pembroke Pines. A restaurant where you can bring a big group of people and have a good time.\r Well, my parents visited in November South Florida and just like every year we celebrate his birthday here in the neighbourhood. We were 18 people and called for reservation and told the owner, Felix, that this is a birthday party and we d like to dine a la card. To my surprise, the sweet hostess greeted us with a glass of wine and showed us to the back room where I was even more surprised how wonderful they have set our table, A center piece, linnen and more. The waiter, I believe it was also the floor manager, arrived on the table and introduced himself. Very charming and classy person. My mother was very hungry and half of our guests were not here yet, so the waiter braught her not one, but two soup samples from the kitchen right away. How sweet was that. And that minestrone was packed with fresh vegetables, i ve never seen anything like this before. \r Soon the rest of our friends arrived and we started to order. The wineknowledgment of the waiter was very impressive and he was very funny even more attentive.\r We had a fantstic time, the 16 oz Veal chop Saltimboca was amazing, not to forget the homemade garlic rolls. The portions are gigantic, the food so good, we couldnt stop complimenting that kitchen. The owner came by with most of the staff and sang Happy Birthday to my Dad.\r A great night, great food and fantastice super friendly. i highly recommend the BIG TOMATO MARKET GRILL. Perfect for big partys, They sure can handle a croud.\r A "must-see place" and ask for the handsome floor manager with the accent. more

I went to the Big Tomato Market Grill for the first time back November at the recommendation of some friends. My friends told me how great the food was and how much fun the Wine Tasting night is on Thursdays so I went on Thursday.\r I had a great time. \r It was a great opportunity to try some new wines and the person hosting the wine tasting was very knowledgeable.\r In addition to the wine tasting I tried the Tortellini Alfredo with chicken and it was the best I have tasted. Not to mention the portion was so large that I took half of it for home for lunch the next day.\r I have been back to the Big Tomato several times and not only on Thursday. I have tried the meat lovers pizza and the lasagna just to name a few of the things. I have never been disappointed. \r I met the owner on one of my visits, he came around and introduced himself and asked how the food was which I thought was very impressive.\r The service at the Big Tomato is excellent as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Many times I have asked the person waiting my table to recommend a food to eat and I am amazed at the level of detail they know about the food they serve.\r Oh and I forgot to mention Karaoke night, that is on Thursday also. While I dont have the courage to go up and sing in front of a group of people it is fun to watch others, I have heard some pretty good singers.\r I highly recommend the Big Tomato Market Grill. more

So it has been a solid year since my family and I have visited the Big Tomato for Sunday brunch and it used to be something we tried to do at least once per month. Needless to say, I won't be going back.\r \r We arrived at noon on Sunday October 10 and from the start had a terrible experience. The hostess at the front began arguing with the other hostess about where to sit us. NOTE: Do not argue in from of customers -- Really...it's in poor taste.\r \r We noticed that the place was NOT as crowded as we remembered with plenty of open seats available. So we went to the brunch buffet to begin loading up on what we thought was great food. Unfortunately, my wife had 1 plate and so did my son. I had two plates but solely because I was hungry. The food was horrible and I doubt it was a fluke. Nothing tasted great and my favorite (eggs benedict) were crunchy. How are eggs benedict crunchy? And I tried two but neither was worth anything. \r \r The presentation of food was awful with utensils remaining dirty and food barely being replenished in the warming trays. \r \r When it came time to pay, the waitress took my credit card and was gone for more than 10 minutes. No sweat as she said that the "machine was acting up". I was floored when I was given a novelty pen to sign with. The kind that are 13 inches long and 1 inch around -- it also included a goofy toy on top. Needless to say, the pen barely wrote let alone my ability to grip it and since the waitress was nowhere to be found, I just dashed to the front to use a pen there. My initial intent was to leave a ZERO tip but I suppose it isn't the waitresses fault for EVERYTHING being bad. I left $3 for my $47 bill and wrote a note on the receipt explaining my lack of happiness with everything. \r \r It's a shame that either the economy is biting so bad that the management can't afford quality people or quality food, or that they simply do not care anymore as I really liked The Big Tomato for a nice Sunday brunch buffet. Unfortunately, this is probably my last time back. more

Way too expensive for mediocre food. Garlic rolls highlight of meal. My chicken balsamic was flavorless chicken in a pool of balsamic "glaze" (more plain vinegar). Not what it used to be. more

Good Food 9/19/2010

Food is good, location is great. I am a regular there and enjoy myself everytime. My only suggestion would be to offer more healthy alternatives for the health conscious customers like wheat rolls, and wheat pasta. Trust me, many of us will not mind paying extra for it if it will help improve our long term health.\r \r more

Great garlic rolls and salad. Some portions still large and some entrees. such as Eggplant Parmesean, a bit skimpy. Eggplant Parmesean was lousy. Some dishes with high quality ingredients and some without. At least the place is not dull. I will go back and try another entree. more

Fun Atmosphere 5/16/2010

I enjoyed going to this place. It was not boring. Some of the portion sizes were large; so many places are skimping due to the economy. The garlic rolls and salads were excellent. I was disappointed in the taste of my eggplant parmesean. The serving was also a bit skimpy. Pros: Best Garlic Rolls I've Had Cons: More Expensive Than Expected more

Great down-to-earth restaurant for the whole family 6/19/2008

One of our favorite places in the Miramar/Pembroke Pines area. Food is great, service is always friendly and efficient, and the prices are reasonable. Pros: Food, service, price Cons: In a strip mall...can't think of any other ""cons"" more
