I'm willing to believe I went on an off day so will re-visit Big Sugar again, but this much-ballyhooed shop was a let down. It felt like 75% of the floor space was dedicated to non-edibles: Cards, tees, aprons, teacups, plates, etc. Cute stuff, but isn't this a bakeshop? I didn't smell anything warm baking when I walked in, and though the employees were friendly, the owner(s) seemed focused only on intensely straightening displays and herding (rather loud) children around the store. I walked away with the impression that this is a vanity shop for a couple of bored wives who want to bring their kids to work rather than a true baker's fullfilment of a passionate dream. Scones were too soft, brownies were more fudgy than cake-y (cake-y's my preference), but the famed doughnut muffin was exceptionally good.
Pros: Doughnut muffin, easy street parking
Cons: Ambience, no tables at which to sit, no nice bakery smell (this is important)
